1. Classic shot of a Flying Bird Glider launch
2. A Follow Me Glider in flight
3. Saikat's masterpiece - a scratchbuilt chuck undergoes field repairs. I treasure this model.
4. The Polaris - a 50 cm span giant.

1. The Polaris in flight
2. The GT 5889 Heli
3. With my limited RC experience, I took the 5889 to quite a good height. Great stuff Amit / Hellyflyer! Thanks!
4. Once it had landed and the battery ran down, it was used as a fan to cool down the younglings on this exceptionally hot and humid evening. They loved it!

P.S. Wing Cmdr. Augustine had presented me this Squadron Cap (Tezpur Air Base) on a recent visit to Shillong and I wore it with a lot of pride.

1. Most of them didn't fly but they did look beautiful proved to be a crowd puller. We were given a total
of 2 hours for the entire show. Gliders, Speeches, RC Flying, Vote of Thanks, Prize distribution
ceremony et al. The models purchased by AVS could not be made airworthy due to many reasons.
Primarily due to the fact that, due to unforeseen circumstances, only a total of 10 hours were allotted
to the assembly and testing of the 7 Aircraft and 1 Heli model. It proved to be woefully inadequate.
2. A moment of humour before the Real Star takes centre stage.
3. A panoramic view.
4. The star of the show - Flt. Lt. Sravan Kumar. a Su 30 Pilot, yet a humble, down to earth individual with
whom I bonded instantly. He put his heart into the show and I was very comfortable playing second
fiddle to him. Thanks Buddy! Salute

Note the colour of Sravan's shirt and see what it is transformed into at the end of the show. You will realise the trying conditions in which he had to put in his best performance.

1. The Merlin takes flight
2. Beautiful flight behaviour
3. A section of the mesmerised audience. most of them had never seen a RC model in flight.
4. A very sporting Flt. Lt. gathers up his crashed Merlin and puts it behind him.

1. "Why are we wasting our time with Chuck / Catapult gliders?  Huh? We should be flying those!" Two rising
    stars.
2. The Blue Angels Scratchbuilt Trainer by Sravan takes to the air.
3. Fantastic flyer.
4. Sravan and his personal Slow stick.

1. The Slow Stick in flight
2. This shot capture the spirit. Mr. Rai, Director Physical Education - AVS, launches a Spitfire. I love this
picture and IMHO, it is the best shot in the entire series.
3. Getting the F 16 ready to fly. All thanks to Sravan who spent a long time experimenting with it.
4. Sravan teaches me how to launch her. I don't know who was more nervous.

1. The F - 16 flies
2. She proved to be underpowered. All of Sravan's expertise and efforts could not keep her airborne for
too long. Atleast she flew. Upgrading the motor now.
3. "Don't worry, one day you will fly like that."
4. Sravan's Slow Stick with LED lights. It was spectacular.

Coming to the end of the show.

1. Hriday, adjudged the Best RC modeller due to his knowledge of Tx/Rx workings and servos ( he is very
clued up on Robotics) gets a prize sponsored by Mr. Sai and this is announced over the PA system. It
contains a set of books on Aviation and an EPP Yak 54 ARF kit. Thanks a million Sir. That was a very
kind gesture on your part. I am sure that the authorities of AVS have contacted you by now and
thanked you for this. Mr. Sai had also sent across a big lot of paper gliders that are ideal for teaching
the very basics of flight to youngsters. For some reason (paucity of time, perhaps) they were not
handed out to the younglings. Maybe the authorities at AVS are storing them for better, more
productive use. Thanks Mr. Sai for your efforts and kindness.
2. Snehangshu, adjudged the Best Aeromodeller gets the same + a set of 5 different Balsa Gliders.
3. Oh my God! It is finally over. Time to go home.
4. 4th from left (in a white T Shirt) Sqdn. Leader Abhinandan, a beautiful Flying Officer ( I didn't quite
catch her name - she is an Air Controller), Flt. Lt. Sravan, a lady Wing Cmdr. whose name I can't
    recall.
Extremely gracious of this illustrious team to have graced this occasion. Grateful to each one of them.

P.s. Check out the colour of Sravan's shirt in the last photo. You will know what he had to undergo.

Thanks Rajath. You should have seen the one made by Saikat. Maestro. I have kept it locked away. Carbon fibre rod fuselage and CF embedded into the empennage and FG strings embedded into the wing leading edges. Keeps flying and circling like there is no tomorrow. Will post photos in details once I have his permission. I won't part with it even if someone gives me a 6 Ch RTF in exchange.

Here is a snap of the GT 8005 Heli in flight.

1. Onkar who took most of the photographs on 30th Sept.
2. Back to the hangar. Is there a tinge of sadness on those faces, or am I imagining it? Huh?
3. Mr. Chandresh Shah (Director of Activities AVS), Mrs. Singh (Deputy Head Mistress AVS), Mr. Rai (Director Physical Education AVS) without their help and support this entire venture would not have been possible.
4. The beautiful and intelligent Flying Officer, Sravan's protege and the star himself.

All is well that ends well.

Rubber powered models and duration powered free flight models, Ornithopters, walkalong models, tumblewing (As paper rockets in pic. I have seen).

And Clasification chart of aeromodeling decipline as per FAI like F1 (d, m, . . . ), F2 , . . F7, S

Sravan, you took a LOT of trouble to make this show a success. Especially since you also had to pack and leave for Shillong immediately. All that driving from Ghoruimari back and forth wasn't a matter of joke. Thanks a million times for being there. I couldn't have done this final day without you. God bless!

Practice, and only Practice will make you perfect

Vc you sent me a SMS saying "....salvage whatever you can" for the Shillong airshow organized by sqn ldr abhinandhan's father (person in your post) ( the reason for sending that SMS is best known to you) how about thanking us, sandy for requesting sravan, and me for mobilizing him by air, ? Or is it that the world has become so thankless.
Reminds me of a Marathi proverb "kamaapurtha maama"

VC, I just read the entire thread, and firstly, I really am speechless for the effort you put in arranging something like this. This is not an event, this is history. I am sure these tiny toddlers will remember this for the rest of their lives and for that you have just been added in my book of "Great teachers"
There are some parts that were disturbing to me..well, this is not the first time it has happened, nor it is the last. I seriously am not judging anyone by favor, but guys come on, whats the problem if someone even makes little money? the sole purpose was to have a good time and enjoy.
Everyone wants a paper bill in their hands, for instance, Indian government has been shouting, that their hospitals are free for the poor and needy, my punk (_|_) they are! they been charging even a beggar  :Rs:50 to open a file!  Giggle Giggle I witnessed this and reported this too..but that was long time ago.

The most important thing here was passing the message of "growing with a beautiful hobby that we call aeromodelling"

regards,
dD
