i was present for the event "Tailspin" in Bits pilani
On the first day when i reached the venue i flew my plane just for testing and trimming before the competition started.At the time of landing the c-clip of my motor got loose and fell somewhere
. After about 30 long minutes i found one spare in my kit
.Now a new problem developed!
the motor was not fitting exactly on my new mount
. It took me another hour to fix it in place at last
.I was capable of completing the challenge correctly and was called for the next round on the 2nd day! woohoo!

.
when i was sleeping at night
i was only thinking of the next round.
6:30 AM was the time in my watch when i reached the venue.To my surprise there was no one there except me my father and one of the organizers
. the reporting time given was 6:30 sharp but except me everyone came late
.Till the I practiced on the open field and also tried landing as precisely as I could.When 2 out of the selected 8 teams arrived i was confident enough to fly and complete the challenge.(for Round 2 there will be 3 bedsheets kept at different places on the ground. A camera recording a video will be securely attached to the aircraft and the team will have to fly over the three bedsheets such that an image of each is recorded in the video)When i was ready i realized that one of the connection of my XT60 to the ESC was lose and was coming out!
.I reacted immediately and took out my soldering iron and soldered the connector back to the ESC securely

.I was the first one to fly in the 2nd round.The organizers attached a cellphone on my plane securely and i threw it in the air.My scores were based on the fllowing -
Landing Points (LP):
Distance from centre of landing zone Points
Less than 1m 100
1m to 3m 80
3m to 5m 60
5m to 7m 40
Safe landing outside landing zone 10
Crash landing 0
Time Points (TP) = 240-T (T is the time taken to complete the task in seconds)
Video Points (VP) = N*25 (N is the number of bags covered in the video)
TOTAL = TP + VP + LP
So accordingly i got 297 points-
TP= 240-53 =187
VP= 2*25 =50
LP= 60(landed safely inside the circle at 3.36m from the center mark)
all other flyers had difficulty in landing inside the circle except me and another guy who crashed his plane inside after flying for 142 seconds therefore didn't get any landing points.
at the end of the event i was declared the winner!
I was verrrrrry happppppy!!!!!!
my father was with me and was feeling very proud!
the most interesting part is that i was the youngest among all in the competition and all others were engineering students!
I am feeling at the top of the world after this achievement.
I sincerely thank all fellow RCI members for helping me and specially medicineman1987 and R C for designing the wonderful plane- GLIDIATOR
now i can call it the winning plane of Quark 2011!
