Tanmay .. The answer is a yes and a no
Meaning if we have a cad design file it can be printed but    .   given the thickness you are talking about , its gonna be very fragile.

Nice stuff . It will help for sure when parts are not available in country or prices are high for parts  . How you printed these parts , means with the help of scanner or by measuring dimensions of Original Part ?

Re:

@aditya the model is designed a CAD software and then g-coded in a slicer ware and printed .
3d scanning is a way, but hobby scanners are quite primitive, results are not always good and professional scanners are way too expensive ( more over I don't have one Wink  )

Ok . Thanks for info . First of all measure all parts dimensions and angles then make it in CAD then coding and then print . Just for an example , making propeller is possible by this method?

Please throw light on cost and availability of 3D printers. Interested in one. Will it also entail learning cad?

Re:

Ashok Sir ,
3d printers come in a variety of forms and costs , its basically the maximum volume of print that decided the cost .
A DIY kit usually starts from Rs. 20000 and upwards .
Availability , There are many on eBay too .
Cad yes its an added advantage, otherwise too you have many of the required stuff readily available on the net can be downloaded and printed.

@docnayeem...I was considering getting a mount for my Boscam TR1 FPV camera printed using online 3D printing services. There are several such printing services available in India. The STL files are also available online. But the charges appear high. Can you give an idea as to how much it actually costs to print a part such as the ones you posted (consumable cost only)?

Does anyone know the cost of 3D-printing parts from online shops? I know they charge according to the material, density and time. I want to know how much the approximate cost of, say, a 450 sized quad-frame would be.

Hello,
Came across this old thread related to 3d printing. 3D printing is playing a vital role in robotics since a long time now and we are sure that it is being used quite frequently for custom RC projects, too, atleast for prototyping and replacement parts. Having done a few interesting 3D scanning & 3D printing projects for robotics, we would like to let the RC community know about our expertise and wide range of materials on www.fabforma.com for your custom parts. You may see a few print examples on our website and our list of printing materials, too. What kind of projects can you approach us for ?
a) If you already have a 3D model / CAD file of a part, we can print it in your choice of material and ship the product to you.
b) If you do not have a 3D model but would like to redesign an existing part, you may ship us your part for 3D scanning. We have a couple of industrial 3D scanners for high accuracy scanning.
c) If you would like to design & prototype a part from a concept, you may send us the detailed drawings / images with dimensions and we take over from there.
d) If you would like to go for small batch production of a part, we can do that, too, through vacuum casting in a wide range of engineering plastics.
Check out our range of services on www.fabforma.com and do get in touch with us anytime for your 3d printing / 3d scanning needs.

Regards,
Fabforma Team

Hi,
Pricing is not disclosed on the website for now and is given to customers during project enquiries. Nevertheless, for the high quality of materials we use, our pricing is really competitive.
