Yesterday my cousin asked me why a tail(rudder) was required and I had no answers. He asked why cant we fly with just elevators and ailerons. Now I understand the importance of this.

I think you cant roll them at all, you cant even bank them. And if there is thrust in a wrong angle/ wind, then I think It cant be kept in the path at all.

it all lies with the stability ,Vertical stablizer maintains longitudinal stability of the aircraft
thus making aircraft heading into one direction until & unless deflected using rudder!
this is only in the case of conventional planes ,coming to delta the winglet may acts as v-stab,
u may ask what about great B2B stealth with no V-stab ,one thing i can say what my instructor told me that design will be such that it doesnt need any sort of V-stab and other thing it has got lots n lots of computer to control stability! hope this helps
