I just came across a notification about a ban on flying drones in Ahmedabad from 20th Sept. to 18th Nov.
I believe this might be due to the upcoming festival season.

The notification can be accessed from Ahmedabad City Police website.

I am just a beginner in this hobby and fully understand the security concerns.
But I do hope that instead of a blanket ban, there are certain earmarked places (which do not pose a security threat)
where genuine RC hobbyists are allowed to pursue their respective hobbies.

This is happening in Mumbai too. Police have become even more alert due  the Ganpati Festival and strict security measures are taken.
I dont think we will be able to fly untill we take permission(which is not going to be easy)

I guess the only other alternative maybe to go outside the respective jurisdiction where the ban is in place. However it may not be feasible for huge cities like Mumbai.

I think this topic is an issue of genuine concern. Like others before me have hinted, RC hobbyists need to come together and convey their point of view to someone in the Central Govt. A nationwide strategy should be formulated which keeps the interests of the hobbyists in mind and yet addresses the security threats that this new technology genuinely poses.

Unless that is done, this issue is bound to come up ever so often.
