Title: BEWARE- forum member RDX.
Post by: rishabhbarma on March 09, 2018, 12:41:16 AM
Riku Daniel Doley (forum member RDX), residing in Guwahati.  http://www.rcindia.org/profile/?u=14346

Had a deal with him, I helped him have a couple of his parcels amounting ~4000$+ cleared from Kolkata customs on the condition he would buy a couple of stuff off me, amounting to around 40k INR. He agreed and then I had the parcels cleared- this was around the first week of February, when all his parcels were cleared.

After that he tried to delay purchase giving excuses, said couldn't afford to buy all the stuff off me.
I offered him extra time, and asked him for a deadline by when he would clear the entire amount for the parts.

I even offered him, to just pay a sum of 25k, and not have to buy any parts off me.

Since then he has been avoiding my calls and messages on whatsapp.

Been over a month, no proper response. Called his work cell phone and another guy answered, said would ask Riku (RDX) to call back. This was a couple of days back, and since then no response.

Hey Rishabh!

Clearing items from customs are very expensive when a private clearing agent is hired.
If someone had asked me to do the same, I would not have believed over just a 'word'.

Now asking for the money is lame to any person other than you two because you do not have any agreement made(if so, then it's no problem).
There's no proof that something like that even existed; apart from all the chat script that you possess.

I'd say, if you're nearby, pay him a visit and make him understand the situation.

I don't think it can be resolved in the forum since it's way off the scope of it.
But would definitely make other members more cautious about happenings like this.

Peace :hatsoff:

I did not understand onething. Have you spent 40K to clear the stuff or he have to buy 40K worth stuff from you?
However I don't think its a good idea to expect a favour in return for favour you have done. It is rather materialistic and I would recommend being materialistic at first.

Have you spent anything while clearing stuff on his behalf? If done do you have any receipts indicating the same?
BTW if he is a forum member post his profile in here so that other members can be CAUTIOUS.

No, there has been no major expense on my behalf. I did although have to spend time, and myself visit the customs office at the airport, ready much of the documentation.

He agreed to buy 40k worth of stuff off me, once his stuff cleared- and since it wasn't a huge amount, I hadn't asked him to pay beforehand. Well, a bad decision.

He seemed like a decent guy, so..

@aravind , hate to say it but I think naming and shaming does work. And I still feel the matter can be amicably resolved.

@Bala, clearing through customs is a real mess. It's from my personal experience. There are people who charge a lot for this service. So, it's not exactly a favor.

Rishabh is right. It's time and mess that Rishabh had to bear. And readying documentation is another task.

Let's hope it get's resolved.

I asked if rishabh has spent some amount because of this statement. I interpreted this as fee for clearing stuff from customs.
Yeah customs is always messy. Personally I don't like to waste my time on such things as I feel that every minute counts.
Better rest than wasting time.  ;D ;D

I offered to help him when he asked, since his stuff was stuck for over a month, FedEx abandoned his parcel (he imported around 5 cars in one go) and although for personal use, customs treated it as a commercial import.
His broker agency couldn't clear it for him, so he requested me.

He's a fellow hobbyist and didn't want him to lose 4000$+ shipping, having it all seized.

Rishab mentioned 'deal', not a favor. Terms of the deal were agreed up on before hand, ie the 40k part. Screenshots are enough to establish that. It's irrelevant how much expense Rishab had to bear to release the items. If the other party reneged  once the items got cleared, it's a breach of agreement & trust.

With customs, it's the headache & constant stress than money that plays out. Remember we're dealing with borderline con-men wielding some misplaced power.

Yes. We can follow the law of the land and stop posting these discussions. The forum will get a really bad name when a high proportion of posts are how to avoid paying customs. Support your LHS

Yes, this post is clearly about customs and not about not receiving payment/being screwed over.

As I understand
1. You said you’d get his consignment cleared if he bought 40k worth of stuff from you
2. I presume you didn’t mean any illegal activity
3. You didn’t insist on a 40k sale before you got his goods cleared
4. You also said you’d accept 25k, instead of him buying 40k worth of stuff from you
5. So you expected (from the data above) to make 25k from a 40k sale.

Guess you just lost a gamble!

Me having it cleared for him was on the precondition that he would buy the stuff off me.
He later backed off after the stuff cleared, saying he didn't have sufficient funds to buy both trucks worth 40k, so I offered him to pay 25k and be done with the deal, which he said he would get back on and then been ignoring calls since.
A gamble yes if you mean trusting a guy to keep his word and make the purchase he'd promised to.

Helping nowadays is very risky thing.
People breaks the trust after their purpose is fulfilled and this Assamese guy RDX did the same.
A year has passed and you should stop expecting any miracle as he didn't visit the site since a year.
I can understand how much its painful when some refuses from their promises.
If cyber crime like any organization can help you then you should try that but then it may come on you also if procedure was something illegal.
You either forget it and move on or if you can do some legal action then try that too .
You have proofs of his chat scripts and this in enough to charge him a case of online fraud, mental harassment like things.
GoodLuck
