hello, I was searching the forums and quite sure its okay to do this. I am planning to come back to India soon and was wondering if I can carry my rc planes in their original packaging and outside of my luggage so customs will be able to see it. I wont bring along the radio (tx and rx) and the battery with me because I believe they might cause a problem. Do you think customs will find any problem with this?

Hi all,

I just bought an EPP 3D model from UK and would be flying back to India next week.
I want to know if I can carry a box (60cm * 10cm * 2.5cm  -  300gms) with me as a check baggage. Will it be safe? - as i read quite a few reviews of the airlines guys mishandling the baggage.

Or could I just carry it with myself as a cabin baggage?

(Its just like depron sheet end of the day and hence I am afraid thinking about the handling)

Need help ...

Thanks in advance.

I think So you can carry it but They will charge you extra and Yes You can enquire with the Airlines Individal's that are we able to carry the items or not. Actually They wont ignore this because your not Bringing The Radio so it should not be a problem.Just ask the Airlines by which your coming??

Bhavesh,

Absolutely no problem . No extra charges. It will need to be within the weight limit that is allowed by your airline. As it is superlite it does not matter. You need to deposit in another counter after checkin. I have bought loads and not had any damage. Last visit to singapore I got 4 40 size planes in 2 boxes through singapore airlines. No damage.

Cheers

Don't wake a Tiger until you've factored the teeth

There are size restrictions on Cabin Baggage. You could Google to see what your Airline permits

I got 2 Phoenix ARFs from Singapore in Jan 2013. Put a double carton at the shop, lots of Fragile Stickers and checked it in.

No problem with Customs either (Mumbai) Just told them it was a wooden toy plane with no electronics  Grin (and gave a nice smile too)

Hi All.
Finally reached India with the model safe and sound.
I was flying with Emirates and they had a separate check in counter for fragile items.
(I did put a lot of fragile stickers )
Emirates took good care of the product till the end.  Also a separate counter / collection point for all fragile items.

Customs at bangalore airport seemed less interested in the big box. Walking through them was a cake walk :-). I in fact had my wallet , mobile phone and keys in my pocket while crossing one of those x ray scanning gates. The buzzer kept beeping - but security was least bothered.

Anyways people flying with a few big names is safe for our babies.
