DGCA just issued an advisory.

Chennai Police is either over subscribed or finding itself without any major issue to handle in its Area of responsibility.

Why because Amma is convicted now they don't have anything else to do. Totally vella is it    

Why don't these purpose less commissioners find some real criminals to tackle.

Tamilnadu is the state with one of most literate but you will always find them doing the most idiotic. Like giving clear clean sweep mandate to opposition every election and the only two party available are the same two for the last four decades.

But i don't understand why such cases are happening more in chennai?

Here the Cops are very sensitive to crime ....that is one of the reasons the law and order is in good shape....Unfortunately our sport is Targeted ...Do you knw that kite flying is too banned here .

yea i realized the same , in Chennai the police is pretty sensitive for the same .. I'm in Noida , comes under the NCR and plan to fly FPV at some time after midnight to be safe .. hope nothing happens

I am not sure about sensitivity of chennai police to crime. But chennai and TN public sure is sensitive not much involved in activities of crime. So the cops must be finding themselfs jobless and trying to keep them self's busy by Drone Hunting.

If the Govt is so concerned about drones then why dont they simply ban it this is nothing but simply harassment ..... they must give clear instructions on what the rules are they are actually acting like totally dumb people without any proper rules... Last year a custom officer was arguing with me saying as per our rules only 27 Mhz frequency is allowed for remote control 2.4 Ghz is not allowed....

Can anyone here tell me were we can fly a quad & were we cannot... its a simple question... Living in this country itself is a pain.. with so many stupid rules...

This country is corrupted as hell. There are more important cases out there but it's not in their capacity to solve them so they harass the weak instead, to show they are doing something,  while blindly aping the USA UAV rules. Regulation means revenue to them.

For all the tall claims of make in India, the shameless clots now want to setup assembling plant for the 15 year old totally outdated RQ-11 Raven UAV of USA now in india.

Plain brainless, shameless, total shams who make up for our countries elite R&D team.

hahaha... that was really funny didn't knew about this... well here in India even if its old n out dated its still considered latest if they haven't used it here in India LOL  here students are working hard to make better design n technology in UAV but they are not entertained at all.. & neither the aviation industry is taken seriously here in India they all take it as a big JOKE

Even i agree with madaquif some ppl on the forum can make better thing like better quads than india's netra why not take ideas from them too rather than seeing the hobby as a hindrance.

Getting tired of the “paise khilao phir maje manao" mentality of our law enforcement. And they are happy to have a foreigner under custody to make rc look bad.
As the biggest indian rc community we should do something about this.

Our country is not corrupt but most people in our country are corrupt to there CORE in pursuit of money etc etc.

We really gotta do something like increase awareness through social media etc.
 I have seen so many of our government agencies having social groups on Facebook etc..

For all the above posters, It is not the Police which is stupid, its the stupid flyers who add fuel to fire.
This guy flew in marina beach when he was arrested and case was not yet booked since there was no camera aboard and the cops understand it is only for hobby purpose.
For all you people living in upper half of India, imagine flying over jantar mantar or Tajmahal or 10feet near to parliament building. How stupid is to fly in marina beach which is quite near to Secretariat and CMs office. Most administrative buildings and defense buildings are located just opposite to the place he flew. let alone flying over the beach which invites 1000s of people everyday. No wonder he is arrested. The guy being a foreign national added salt to the salad.
With all this said, yes, too much kolaveri towards flying !!!!!

For all this hoopla about drones, fact of the matter remains that these pea brained nitwits have only the capability to arrest a student/ novice hobbyist who is flying a toy drone just meters over his head or Novice Idiot Photographer who is trying to catch a picture with one of the glorified modern day toy for the sake of headline in media. While all the equally clueless media lapping it up and printing it like a soap opera for a daily drama of the common man.

I wonder what all systems and checks these Great Police Commissioners with their glorified accomplishments have put in place to catch The Real Drones with real capability and reach, made by that real criminal who is going to launch it from an isolated spot Kms away to reach the sensitive area with an criminal intent because of whom these retards are petrified to the core.

Only a Person who can think like a real criminal who knows all the tricks of the trade of a real criminal has the capability to catch the real criminal.

Instead of collaborating with the brains and knowledge available in the field and in developing the tech of the future for good purposes and understand its capability to develop safety measures and checks to prevent actions for that rare worst intent, merely just laying a blanket ban is only akin to behaving like an clueless ostrich with head in the sand.

Govts Change, Attitude Remains.

We need to have the below mentioned points very clear to have a better understanding about quads.

1. Were we can fly these quad/ with or without camera
2. Were we cannot fly these quad/ with or without camera
3. OR certain areas were we need to take a special permission to fly these quad/hexa/octa
4. There has to have a proper certification necessary for the people operating these machines to make sure they are well aware n know how to handle n operate these machines, for me this point is very important & I hope all will agree to it. Its just like having a driving licences means you know how to drive a car you are trained well trained in it.

Why I feel certification is necessary is because today many out there are just getting these machines not even having any knowledge or some one to guide & such unknowing incidents occur. A technical failure is understandable but in most of the cases what i have seen is these people are not familiar on basics of how to operate or most of them are experimenting with these machines in public.
