Title: Customs Rules for bringing used RC equipment to India
Post by: Sabareesh89 on November 15, 2016, 09:02:38 PM

Hello,

One of my friend is planning to get his RC plane & related equipments to India from Japan.
Can anyone help me out with the customs rules for getting used RC planes from other countries?

I read an article recently which said that, one has to declare @ customs if he is getting a drone/RC Planes.
Are there any restrictions or ban of some sorts for getting these RC equipments (2.4GHz transmitters + electric RC planes + LiPo batteries)

Please do share your inputs or previous experiences

Best Regards,
Sabareesh

Lipo Is a NO...  Just not for customs but..  You will risk all other passengers....
If it's one tx they won't notice...  I had one from us One year back...

With plane... Not sure how big?  What material?

If he disassembles everything and checks it in, there will be no problem. However, radio equipment is banned and could get caught at customs.

Also, LiPos need to be carried in carry on luggage in the cabin. Most airlines don't have a problem with this.

Thnx for Reply,

He plans to get maybe a couple of FPV electric gliders.
If declared @ customs for getting Tx, what's the procedure?
1) Pay 42% duty & get it released or
2) Impossible to get it to India

Any rule book reference available??

Carry LiPo batteries in carry-on bag with you but first put them in special container bags that are fire safe.
