i did some frame to frame, his roll and yaw is definitely gyro controlled with quite high of gyro authority, see for yourself, i suspect even pitch is, though couldn't make out clearly.

My Vote
With Gyro authority, it aint dangerous, without it holding onto tail alone controlling pitch is dangerous, roll ? even dangerous

Here are the snap shots to show variation in angle to the rigging angle, but if you see the video carefully many times when he is doing the dance you can see the control movements as well as as when he is moving forward. i suspected this because of the way he entered hover, it wasn't clean, for the skill that he demonstrated subsequently. nevertheless, very very skillfully flown i must say
