Bokilap,
I your dad loved it he would still love it.
Best would be take him to the field and let him fly. Even if it means sacrificing a model.
But then think of the look in his eyes which I am sure you would cherish forever

Anwar,
If my wife ever notices a new plane, most of the times I pass them as,  "oh that one?? I just put new covering on that" but with my son growing up it is getting difficult as he is able to tell the differences

L'enfant Terrible du RCIndia

I guess I am lucky to have a supportive partner. She patiently endures my madness and the resultant mess. Finances are never questioned.

My Mother is an angel who has sacrificed her own privacy and her bedroom. She temporarily shares a room with my teenage daughter (my biggest fan and a keen Heli flyer!) so that I can work on the Griffon Hovercrafts in her bedroom.

I am blessed.

My story is a bit better with the family.
My daughter loves to be on the field........ to see the planes and to run around. She still isn't into the flying stuff ...... as yet.
My wife is very supportive during the week..... Lets me build during the wee hrs of the night. but sometimes she is a cranky on Sunday as she wants to do something else and I want to fly.
Mom and Dad are glad that I'm doing something that I've always wanted to do.
My cousin in Delhi has been my strongest support. Thanks Bhai.
I guess I have the advantage of having nearly setteled down in my profession and can now take the liberty to follow a chilhood dream.
Guess I'm lucky this way.

Yes, its very natural... parents usually stop you from doing something for your own good.. and once they realize that you are all set in your path of life they leave you to ride the road alone and take your own decisions.

It dont expect to do so, but right now i am just a student of architecture. And want to become a good architect rather than a project manager.
I manage to do whatever i wish, but sometimes we have to wait for ripe time. I wanted to make my personal RC plane since I ws in class 8th. But lack of resources and support made me satisfy myself making hand-gliders Cry.
I still rocked.
Now hope to ROCK my dream by the end of jan.    Thumbs Up
Anyway what do you do?

I fly with my now13 year old son. We have been in it together for 3 years. So that is one person in my corner.
He actually put me into this hobby- used to do aeromodelling in school NCC. He visited hobby centre at Kolkata with my mother and then I went to meet Rishi Kumar there and got a skybee and a 3.5 aurora diesel and it went on and on from there.

As far as the "Home Front" is concerned, She hates the mess, esspecially when I am building a model.
As far as expenses go, I am very honest about it. We keep track of whatever I spend on this hobby and I tell her to buy diamonds or jewellery worth at least that much.
Not that she really cribs. But I feel that if I am spending money on a hobby like aeromodelling, then she can spend the money on jewellery. expensive clothes don't fit in the same bracket .
Try this formula with your spouse and you will find her asking you when you are getting your next model.

Exactly, and these chaps spend 25k on a new mobile every 12-18 months and think it is fine. My mobile costs 2-2.5 k and is really basic. I would rather spend the money on a radio or engine.

Double the budget Shocked Bang Head   But I can see this working out beautifully Wink

My brother is the one who pulled me into this, and is probably more active in the hobby than I am !  That is a huge source of support to have someone else really close to be at the same wavelength.
