hello all,
am a beginner n intereseted in building an autonomous quadcopter. The Control board that i have planned to buy is APM 2.5

http://store.diydrones.com/APM_2_5_Assembled_p/br-apmpwrkt.htm

The cost of which is 179.99 USD + 30 USD for shipping, will there be any customs problem ?  Huh?

And also other parts such as motor, ESC's, Lipo battery, charger, and other accessories through HOBBYKING

The total purchase cost in HOBBYKING will be around 8000-10000

Shud i need to buy in a single purchase, or shud i need to split into two or more purchase, so that i can bypass customs ? please help as this is my first purchase  Shocked

People in the forum has mentioned that it is not safe to buy Rx/Tx from other countries as most of them are illegal  Huh? Shocked

Thanks in Advance

if your HK order is lest than 1 kg then 99% chances are you will get it without any custom problems.

For APM i would advice you to find a friend who is comming back from US and can bring it here for you.

This you will be able to avoid custom + shipping problems

@rastsaurabh :well sir, i am just a beginner and this is my first copter, the thing is am doing ma final engineering, am doin this as my final year project so that later on i can use this for hobby flying  >Cheesy . I have hands on training on Arduino programming, i came across this APM board which really attracted me, so the plan is to built a quadcopter and use APM 2.5 for waypoint navigation.

I have bought Hobbyking X525 Frame and other things yet to be ordered

APM 2.5

dt700 motor

10x45 or 11x45 prop

20A Turnigy ESC's

4000mAH 20c Lipo and ofcourse charger  Grin

Confused about 6ch Fly sky rx/tx

http://www.rcbazaar.com/products/396-fs-ct6b-6ch-24ghz-transmitter-receiver.aspx

which has a potentiometer for channel 5 nd 6, but i need a switch type for mode selection(so thats why asked if i could import it  Huh? )

Alternately same Fly sky has 9ch

dont sir me man Smiley

try to get in touch with local flyers there ... they will be great help considering that its your first plane.

for HK order split it if its > 1 KG . Its safe.

For APM weight wont be too much but i think that they will declare original price and that might attract custom attention.

check this thread :

ram singh and lastRites have already ordered it and you can PM them to get there inputs about customs and shipping.

All the best!

i would still suggest .. go for a smaller one first then go for the big one... there are enormous complications in first attempt...... or rather get a readymade first to get your hands on
