Go to post office and write a written complaint and get a acknowledgement receipt... You won't get the product back, but internal departmental investigation happens, as they have to close it anyhow. It have a very very low impact but it happens. This is mostly done by sorter staff who are on contracts and keep doing same things. I am victim of few (domestic only), but after complaining things improve for some time.

Imagine if this hobby becomes more famous in India, then all the members will have a library of junk books at home  :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

When something like this happens, it's probably not one individual but a group conspiring together where each one receives a percentage.  One person can't get away with opening and then replacing tape.  Presumably they put cameras in the sorting places as a preventative measure since they know theft is likely to occur.

Let us know what kind of response you receive from the Post Office.

If you don't voice your complaints then nothing changes and then your kids and grandkids will face the same frustrations.

You have to follow Anand advice it really helps. It happens mostly at the Customs office or local post only. Once I did not receive a package in the beginning when I came to Shillong 3 years back, where the mandate was showing shipped to Destination.

I logged official complaint about the loss with a copy to all both online and by registered post with ack to all concerned to Grievance cell head east, Customs office Kolkata, Main Head Office Shillong. Since it was logged online also  it was registered with head office at New Delhi too.

Now it had to be acted upon since it was a Docketed Complaint. All I wanted was outcome of investigation. I pursued with correspondence for two years long after even HobbyKing refunded the complete amount on complaint with Hobby King.

Till date I have not got the outcome of Investigation, though I must have received close to 50 letters from various levels on the progress of investigation about that single parcel as to who is asking whom for what data or detail. They could not trace it at all.

However outcome was very good since then for past three years none of my Parcels close to 60 in numbers have been lost after that the local postman used to hold the parcel for me deliver it by hand after tracing where ever I am. He used to hold it for me even if I was out of station. The Old man was on the verge of his retirement. It got to be a bit of embarrassment for all concerned now especially for the old man since the 50 letter of progress on investigation which I received from various offices of post and customs the local post office also received one copy.

I felt bad for him so I left the case die without pursuing any further after two years. Knowing me I would have pursued it on file for three more years more causing utter embarrassment to all concerned outcome or no outcome. If you pursue it politely, patiently and with consistency it is not difficult to know where it got lost.

After submitting a written complaint, if you are not receiving any response from them, then you can go for RTI i guess.

@ leabres

india is running on a quote @ MIGHT IS RIGHT@  , i mean to say there is no respect for an individual common citizen , unlike in other developed countries where there is there is a equal respect for every individual .

but now the time is changing here too , lots of famous and power full people are in jail  (also you can see that we are also discussing something to solve  ) but still there  is a long way left.
i will not be sitting idle ,needs patience ,but i  will do something as SUNDARAM suggested.

i know that there will be no response and this is a loss like always , but lets see what can be done so that at least someone will not the feel the same way i am experiencing ,as MR LEABRES said it will happen to our progeny , i f some thing cannot be done .

As an individual I have the right to know. How & where this lapse happened, who is reponsible for it, what action you have taken on the concerned party responsible, how you as a service provider are going to ensure this lapse is not going to be repeated. For a service provider to even answer one question is not an easy job without accepting thier flaws which need plugging. As a service provider you are expected to be ready with answer to all. This should be the approach of all consumers. As per guidelines of RTI every organisation is supposed to maintain independent dept for reddressal of grievance and answers to above. All you have to do is exploit these channels. Respective web sites are supposed to display contacts of all these dept.

"According to Section 6 of Indian Post Office Act, the postal office is exempted from any liability for the loss, mis-delivery, delay or damage to any parcel booked with it, except if such loss has been caused due to wilful negligence on the part of an employee."

Quoted from the links i posted earlier, and after reading this im really not sure whats going to happen in this particular case, since Vineet did receive the parcel but the content was missing, so it would come under "loss caused due to wilful negligence on part of an employee." But then again this has to be proved !?

Well what were the contents of your shipment Vineet?
I have some sunnysky BL motors on the way from aliexpress, hope it gets through safely aside from the delayed delivery.

my parcel was also mutilated badly and torn at the corner but it had only ESC's so i think it was not of much interest to them. now i realize it was a narrow escape. i will be careful next time and choose alternative shipping method.

i have read those articles and i have made my mind that this is loss for me , but still man there is something to be done ,
As this was not a small item
there was a BIG TURNIGY 9XR radio with some props and servos in the box , i mean it is really a big thing that one cannot put it in pocket easily ,also nobody can take it out from the box without entirely opening it with some group involved as mr LEABRES said, as there was a box in the box .
I am suspicious about CHENNAI FOREIGN POST OFFICE as i know these post office guys in delhi  cannot do it, but lets see
Also if somebody knew about the radio ,he must come to this forum someday to sell it .

Bro our sympathies are with you. We all know how frustrating it can be. As many of have suffered the losses I suggest that in place of filing individual complaints we should sign a petition and submit it to Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. We can make it public by spreading it across through the mass media and involve more people. This will definitely lead to a strict action against the culprits as it will be impossible to ignore this petition.

Dont just leave it like that....it may give them another chance to do the same thing...

@Vishal:
you must have found out by now that same thing has happened with other members also.
It is not limited to HK or foreign parcels or to any particular region in India and they can steal everything
they can get their hands on...you can read it here:

http://www.consumercomplaints.in/complaints/indian-postal-services-c282685.html
http://www.consumercourt.in/other-department/98092-india-post-employees-stole-contents-speedpost-parcel.html
http://www.complaintsboard.com/complaints/speed-post-india-c41786.html
http://www.deccanherald.com/content/147012/goods-foreign-parcels-fall-prey.html

I posted a message in this topic a few days back about signing some kind of petition (not limited to RC India) against the 'chor' employees
but it seems people prefer lodging individual complaints and running place to place without getting any positive outcome.

It is very unfortunate. I get my HK/Towers/Ebay items shipped to my Office address which is in a SEZ. I bet the Postal guys would be concerned not to fiddle with Post addressed to a company. out of at least 200+ small-big package, I have lost only 3-4 very small packages which might have got lost anywhere from Docks to even my office.

If you find the Indian Postal Dept / Customs not honest in your area, you can always opt for FedEx/DHL at higher costs. If you still face the problem, better go for LHS in India.

i really agree with kumardesai you should file a complaint against them.
If possible you can also take help of police to investigate because it is a case of robbers in customs . This is not the first it is also happened with my cousin as he ordered a glider from hobbyking and all the parts were stoled.

the parcel i recieved was not in a bad condition, n not good also  :giggle:
it was not torn , but was loosely packed, i think that someone took out the contents and then taped it again.

earlier also i had ordered from hobbyking using EMS and that reached properly although i had to pay customs, this time i used air mail and all the contents vanished into air. i had ordered flymentor and field programming unit and wattmeter. after collecting 4 450 size and one 500 size and 3 nitros and still unable to fly i thought its high time i should get myself some stablization unit and then being the patriotic sort i searched all LHS, i found this in lotushobby and there end of august the price was 8500 but when i came home and called them i was told it is now 11500, just the flymentor. then i thought of hobbyking where all together the price was 146 dollars including the shipping.
all very very sad.

Not to offend anyone but on checking i noticed that ,
every parcel which is routing via  CHANNAI  post office is effected

as there are few post offices where our parcels route , and i am sure about my
local post office old guys that they cannot do anything that cheap ,again this is my personnel thought .

any guy here from near chennai post office may help us .

please do not accept any parcel which routes from chennai with out checking it properly ,we will surely get these Bas****s by tracking them down .

Title: Re: indian post stole my items - please advice
Post by: theleabres on October 12, 2013, 07:56:52 AM
If you believe your stolen radio is in Chennai, you can alert the RC guys there to look out for a new Turnigy 9ch that enters the scene.  You can also alert the RC shops there in case the theif tries to sell it at a shop.  If Hobbyking can provide you with the serial number, that will be most helpful to find it.

I believe anyone in India, who is interested in using that radio, reads this forum and hopefully will inform you if they spot your radio.

not every one is honest , even if they get it , they will never let it disclose  to any one.but still there is hope we can get from the forum community ,unfortunately i donot know any one trustworthy from chennai personally

Hello @ saintofinternet :- totally agree with you From 100 people 99 are corrupt.
Now to this topic:-
Actually guys the problem is in our indian post i was reading some complaints about indian post and i read that there are many in which persons sended their letter to their friends and it reached after one  year  :o :o.
There are many cases in which if your sending money to someone the post office corrupt guys only stoled from office.
I really salute to indian post office for their corrupt work . :salute:
Guys it is very serious it is happened with me also sometimes.
For sending a letter from mumbai to any place in maharastra there is fixed price of rs 78 .
but the officials took me 120 rs from me.
Means the 120-78=42 rs was eaten by corrupt guys. :'(
So be careful guys while posting letter also.
If posting any Important documents post it by some good courier company that will be good.
Where you can get a refund of that thing. :)

Hi Vishal. First of all contact HobbyKing and ask for the Serial No , Model No etc of the Product that they sent. Then register an FIR a your local Police Station. Then register a complaint with IndiaPost. Do it ONLINE here

http://ccc.cept.gov.in/PCData.aspx (http://ccc.cept.gov.in/PCData.aspx)

Contact Sundaram ji. His parcel was lost in transit once. And your parcel CONTENTS were lost. He eventually got the refund from HobbyKing. Can't say about your case. But there WILL be an internal investigation at IndiaPost. See what they reply. You may have to register a complaint at Central Board of Excise and Customs also. Anyway, since you imported a Radio & you DONT have an Import License for it, you may be fined. But thats ONLY AFTER they find your Radio.

Even if you dont get your Radio, you should register a complaint & pursue it so that it'll be a deterrent for the people who stole your parcel contents. All the Best

Since you are in UP (I belong to your near by state), it is so common there. FLipkart and even many courrier refuse to deliver there.

It is sad, but only option for you is to file a proper FIR and make the Postal and Customs as offending parties.

It is a very sad state of some our states. Its not that such things don't happen in other places, but few are more notorious than others. Agree with HK as they would not have got hold of Hindi magazines and this has sure been done in your local PO or even Delhi FPO.

Better TV channel do a sting. But much much bigger scams continue to happen in plagued country. Lost/Stolen parcel is but a minor issue infront of them

It is better you get HK/China items shipped to friends/Families in other cities like Bangalore/Hyderabad/Mumbai etc or better opt for FedEx/DHL instead.

In future if you face any issues like this, you can simply go to online consumer forums like http://www.akosha.com/ (http://www.akosha.com/) and can register your complaint over there to get it resolved.
