 i am a bit of dreamer? but that is how it all ideas  began ?
i have a quad 450 cm,completed needed a cheap fpv with tx and rx ( low budget)
was checking the entire forum for a answer so posting anew one
a question ( if it is not  stupid ) to attach an old android phone( i usually change one in 6 month)
as FPV since it has most function required for fpv :  a cam 13mp , wifi or 3g connection for transmitter,  battery self contained, and another android mobile as receiver??? as far as limited wifi range is concerned in direct wifi using hypergain antenna ? ?

or else someone expert could develop codec for the same???

can anyone help??? this could an easy and cheap solution for making an affordable quad???

another great idea was using modified android phone as quad control board or receiver??

yes, i think 3G/LTE is going to be the next-gen in fpv. high latency and network congestion are still issues with 3G. also, digital video codecs still haven't been fully optimized for robustness and high reliability on 3G/LTE. safety is a huge factor with these systems. you don't want to lose your video stream arbitrarily especially if your system is not in line of sight. very dangerous situation indeed.

for now there are already some companies that are actively creating 3G/LTE fpv systems - Skydrone - http://www.skydrone.aero/.

but for now you can try Airboss - http://airboss.io/ - its converts your 3G/LTE phone into a FPV system.

The simplest FPV solution I can think of, using a smartphone would be to simply Skype. Not necessarily cheap or a bulletproof link though.

Skype would not be advisable. Your video stream should be up and running 100% of the time, and Skype just doesn't fare well in that aspect. You need a dedicated codec designed for robust 3G/LTE FPV purely for safety. Unless you buy a dedicated 3G/LTE system, stick to analog FPV, as it is more reliable and has been around for longer.

For example, people build bridges that can withstand several times the weight than they should on average require. So a bridge that will be rated for 1000 cars traveling across will be designed such that it can withstand 10,000 cars. This is a safety factor to account for extreme situations. Same things applies to FPV systems. It shouldn't 'work most of the time', rather it should be designed to work well in the worst situations.

FPV-related crashes can be very dangerous and can lead to the whole hobby being ruined due to loss of life or property. I'm not going overboard, I just don't people to make a mistake they will regret dearly.

Rightly said by quadbro, Using 3G/LTE/WiFi from regular phone the basic way certainly isn't reliable enough for FPV as the lag one will get can be quite high at times (Even with direct P2P Wi-Fi connection).

These can be used as a Video for reference while flying in sight.
Just don't use the Video feed to fly. Fly the conventional way and just enjoy the video feed from time to time 

This is definitely Doable and it is quite an innovative idea i should say, but the disadvantages outweigh the advantages.
 
It doesnt fit any factor in comparison with a normal FPV TX/RX system except a secure link. No one can see what you are seeing!

A normal TX/RX is cheaper than a mobile phone(even in LHS too!!) An android phone with a decent camera and all the above said features like 3G/WIFI will cost at least 5K and then you have to shell out at least 200rs for a good 3G connection.

In contrast, a well set FPV TX will give you at least 800m range which is more than enough unless you are aiming for long range record making.
weight is again a big factor, and FPV setup will not go beyond 50gms with a home made CP antenna.
Video lag, network issues, phone getting hanged, losing your phone along with your copter, are all negatives in this design.
And most places that you SHOULD fly FPV is barren lands and devoid of people where i really doubt you will find any good network connection.

with all that said, i still would try this when i find a cheaper gsm .....
