Title: Model aircraft restrictions.
Post by: tg on March 09, 2011, 02:33:55 PM
Found this on a AMA related website. Looks like even the US is coming down with restrictions on model plane flying. Should give some insights into how we can legalize or frame rules for flying here - http://www.modelaircraft.org/faa/recommendations.pdf and http://www.modelaircraft.org/aboutama/gov.aspx

AMA India is aware of the issues of Restrictions and security, related to our hobby.

Through our continuous association with the Director General of Civil Aviation office and the Aero Club of India ,we are keeping them informed of the positive aspects of the hobby and to support a positive approach towards the rule making process.

As of now there is no coverage in DGCA rules to cover the Aeromodels or the UAV's,however discussions on this topic is taking place at different forums in
the Dept of Def.,Min. of Civ.Aviation,Min of home Affairs and the secret org.

AMA India will continue to project the right picture and make all efforts to safegaurd the hobby.

Under the current scenario a large no. of modelers are neither members of a recognised and registered association which has their details or the location of places where they fly.(there is skepticism and mind block against trying to be a part of club/association )

In a recent advisory the Aero club has advised that all aeromodelers in the country should become members of a reg./recognised club or association ,so that the flyers are  recognised entities and they can be contacted and kept informed of the progress in the events concerning the hobby, and they can confirm to secuirty agencies that aeromodeling is regulated and a safe aerosport

Continuing on the subject of making aeromodeling a recognised safe aerosport,we propose the following:

1.form your own club/assn.
2.keep records of members and inform them of safe operating procedure,as available on the member application form on our website:www.amai.in
3.Get club affiliated to AMAi,which is by mutual agreement and free of charge.
4Share you info on members with AMAI.
5.AMAI will keep you informed and represent your voice to the different decision making bodies.

This will support the hobby in our country and ensure healthy progress in future.
