Hi everyone! Cheesy

i was just guessing what should be the setup on these four types of planes-
1.High wing
2.Low wing
3.Pusher(like easystar and HK bixler) Grin
4.Flying/Delta wings

i actually need help  Help Me for the setup no. 3 to use on my bixler soon but asked it in general so it can help other people in future. Smiley

So the question is-
"What should be the configuration of flaps on a plane which has to be mixed on its ailerons while Landing and Take off?"  Huh?

sorry for any grammatical errors  Undecided

Thanks in advance for your answers Hats Off

IN THRUST WE TRUST.....!!

on this question it depends on what you want the outcome...!

firstly flaps normally are used to increase the wing area(get a camber below) and usually go down. it reduces the stalling speed, gives a nose up characteristic, and enables slow speed flying ...
what goes up are speed brakes( spoilers).

in case of a glider( it already has enough lift) in that case you need the flaps to go up and act as a break and get it to loose height very quickly. mostly used if u want a spot landing

in-case of a scale or a aerobatic plane( which basically have less lift in the wing design) they need the flaps to go down and increase the lift for short takeoff, slow landings and stalling speed flying.

so for your bixler being a glider it needs air brakes to have a spot landings..( again depends on the design and your experience)

All depends on how far behind your flaps/spoilers  are from CG.

Practice, and only Practice will make you perfect

on this question it depends on what you want the outcome...!

firstly flaps normally are used to increase the wing area(get a camber below) and usually go down. it reduces the stalling speed, gives a nose up characteristic, and enables slow speed flying ...

above information is only partly true, and some things are wrong

a few things about flaps.
(a) when the trailing edge of the wing on account of lowering flaps goes down, the effective angle of attack of the air flow to wings increases and lift naturally increases

(b) Nose up or down will depends on (a) Position of tail plane (b) wing wake and it interaction on the tailplane (c) Position of CG.. generally a low winger will nose down. and high swept will go nose up.

(c) NO , a normal flap will not increase wing area, only Fowler Flaps does (Some thing like a telescopic flap)

(d) remember lowering of flaps will always increase drag and reduce glide distance, so if you have a cut and there is a doubt in reaching the field, DO NOT lower flaps.

there are a lot of flaps , please read up, Kreuger Flap, Single slotted Fowler, Double slotted fowler, Blown Flap etc readup, Boundary Layer Control.

There are much more to flaps. sometimes later.

However i go with Vishvesh, gliders requires lift dumper to come down upward movement of flaps is because of that.
