I just checked the IPS tracking - it says that it sent to DAP in Bangalore in the morning today. Just waiting now - for the next 12 ~ 14 days...  Tongue

My HK 450 has arrived in India on 12th Nov via EMS and is still "Pending Customs Inspection". I fear the worst. I don't even know where the consignment is - Kolkata, I presume. This is a bloody nightmare. You spend $53 on EMS and it is wasted on a corrupt, bureaucratic, palm greasing system. Frankly I don't give a damn about polite protocol anymore.

Hey, did you check IPS web tracking here- http://ipsweb.ptcmysore.gov.in/ipswebtracking/ Huh? It works for me, it just gives a little more clarity though. Do let us know.

Hello all,
I see that all of you are facing problems with your parcels. Even I have the same problem with some of my parcels. The problem is with the MUMBAI FPO. Kolkata FPO will not block any parcels under customs. Only Delhi and Mumbai FPOs are doing this at the moment. There has been a serious backlog in Mumbai FPO aswell. So it is quite possible that your parcels have not been processed even.

I was looking for Mumbai FPO's number so that I can track my parcels more efficiently. But I couldn't get it. If any of you have the number then please post it... I need it urgently.

... the current one says: Pending Customs Inspection

Update: IPS tracking says: "Return item from customs" and another 4 min later update shows: "Send item to domestic location". I know for sure that my stuff is on its way to my hands...  Clap

I have a different story to tell. This afternoon I had a chat with the Customs officials in Kolkata who have told me that my consignment has been detained due to the "Chinese Origin" of the contents. Apparently now there is a blanket ban on all "toys made in China" (Wow!!! Giggle)

I now have to write them a letter explaining that these spare parts are required for repairing a toy Helicopter that I bought in India through the open market (where "toys made in China" are banned  Huh? Head Scratching) and was damaged in a crash.  Bang Head

I have been asked to submit all supporting documents like : An Estimate from an 'Authorised Repair Centre' for such toys, In that estimate, all these parts have to be mentioned.  Bang Head Bang Head

This is what he said verbatim : "There must be some reason for which your parcel has been detained by us. I need these documents to provide a reason to release it. Once you send the documents, there should be no further problems and I should ( Head Scratching Huh?) be able to release it to the Indian Postal Authorities."

While I will do the needful, I am mentally kissing my HK450 and $158 Goodbye. Salute

Bad to hear. I know how much it hurts when such customs things happen. You should have waited. Wish U all the best. have positive hopes, it will all go well.  Thumbs Up

Another reason for all importers to import in small split packages, it has been discussed here so many times.

Hello guys.. here is an update to my situation. A few of my parcels left Mumbai on 16th Nov and the status is updated today, on 25. Other left Mumbai on 23.
Delhi customs is taking ages to even get the parcels cleared. The parcel which left on 16 has not even been processed.

I HAD A TALK WITH ONE OF THE OFFICERS IN DELHI... THEY TOLD ME THAT IF A PARCEL IS DETAINED, ALONG WITH THE CUSTOMS, THEY ARE CHARGING A HEAVY FINE, IF IT IS CHINA MADE.

NOW AFTER HONG KONG COMMING UNDER CHINA, ON ALL PARCELS, WHICH ARE LEAVING CHINA, IT IS COMPULSORY FOR THEM TO WRITE "MADE IN CHINA". AND UNFORTUNATELY IMPORT FROM CHINA IS CONSIDERED TO BE AN OFFENCE AND HENCE THE FINE/PENALTY...

If any of your parcels get stuck in the customs, please do not contact any official, until the status "INBOUND INTO CUSTOMS" or something like detained by customs shows up in the tracking... AS INSTRUCTED BY ONE OF THE INSPECTORS.

Update: Received my stuff yesterday with a Customs charge of Rs. 765/-. My advise for all if you are getting stuff from HK: Be patient (never be overtly curious if the status on tracking says 'Sent to Customs' and call the FPO); trust in the system - though you may be charged by customs - you'd still get it...

 Thumbs Up
