Anybody with experience in dealing with customs directly can you please guide me?

Can someone please suggest where I should go and whom I should speak with and how long it will take. In case if that guy is adamant in getting the NOC can someone suggest on how to get NOC for this.

If there is another easier way, please suggest.

First time Im seeing the notice. Did you declare full value while ordering?

Quadcopter should have passed through without any hurdles. Tx/rx needs WPC NOC as per rules but have never seen anyone getting it successfully.

I cant understand what would WPC have to do with a quadcopter kit if it doesn't contain any telecommunication/RC devices. I have a strong belief that undervaluing or no declaration at all is the primary reason for detention and notices. OR the mood of the customs officer OR the size of the package. Otherwise every one should have been treated the same way.

Which seller are you referring to, hobbyking? because they do declare it and as a buyer you have the option to undervalue or declare 100% of it. And any international seller would know that value has to be declared, they call it the CN 22 declaration form(for value less than Rs 23000 probably).

Many people have reported of receiving the same notices but very few have reported back with success. Best bet, talk to them and try to convince them(some people had success by doing that). If I was in your place would have asked them for the GR book where its states about NOC's and stuff. But I can understand its risky when items of high value are involved.

What would they do with the items , Im not sure, either they confiscate or give you an option to sent them back or release it with some duty if you contact them. Depends on how you proceed further. You can send them the documents you have at hand for the moment or call them at the phone number given in the notice.

Daksha if its sent to customs/held by customs, then nothing to worry about for now, next update will be the decider.

Most of the custom agents deal only if higher or nominal commissions are involved which means higher consignment values. Thats what people have reported back here when they contacted agents. Aliexpress sellers do undervalue the parcels so that you can benefit but it seems to have backfired in your case.

And they wont just go ahead and destroy it, check this post for some details
http://www.rcindia.org/rc-general-topics/customs-order-%28everyone-should-keep-%29/

Why dont you talk to them first before arriving on any conclusions. If you can talk to them in person it would be better.

When inverted, down is up, and up is expensive…

@desachristopher

You have to do it otherwise they won't release or wait for some time don't be in hurry. When shipment booked through registered Airmail,Airparcel or EMS no agent has rights to handle or clear it only indian postal has.

In future book through fedex, dhl, ups as rzrmayur replied you won't face any trouble but be ready to pay customs duty.

Hi!
I've just had a package from HobbyKing held by the customs office, the package contains a pair of replacement IBCrazy style Circularly Polorized 5.8 gHz antennas and a replacement motor and ESC set for a Multicopter and 1 micro servo. Do I really have to get WPC Type Approval for these?   Bang Head
I have lived in other countries, where I have been able to indulge in my hobby without having to put up with the restrictive practices and overblown beaurocracy that we have here, and it does make a big difference. If there are 2.4gHz and 5.8gHz frquency bands which do not require a licence to use, then let us use them, within the set limits, without un-nescessary interference from beaurocrats.

If your tracking details shows "Held By Customs"/"Sent to Customs" that means they are inspecting it and hasnt been detained yet for NOC's and what not. Next update will let you know whether you need approvals or not.

Restrictive practices are there for a reason & its not something typical to our country! If you go through international forums you will find that we are still better off.

FYI both the frequency bands are free, they dont ask you for a license for usage, all they ask you is type approval i.e if the equipment is qualified and working within prescribed limits so that everyone can use the FREE bands together in harmony. And how do plan to ascertain everyone uses it within set limits if there is no interference involved from regulators?

Yes there are some issues which need to be addressed, but that doesnt mean the whole practice is futile/unnecessary.

I was being asked about this noc and I never used to take them...
Just take 2-3 documents like Printout of fake invoice, fake proof of purchase printout (edit it using html), payment proof (edit value html)
Thats it.

Well even via fedex, dhl, ups .. you need to pay no customs or less customs if you alter custom value via seller.
these logistic companies have custom brokers & are rarely inspect

This is sad. People are actually encouraging others to commit forgery to get stuff done, that too on a public forum!

Even if we pay legit tax ...it is obviously go into corrupt **** politician pockets.
Really love those days when 1$ was 35 rupee & petrol was 10rs/litre.

Im not going to dignify that with a response. I wish you luck with your forgeries and tax theft you plan to keep on doing or keep suggesting to rest of us. My piece of advice, do not discuss such things on public forums and destroy the hobby for the rest of the Janata. You can always use the PM system here if you still intend to keep going!
