Don't wake a Tiger until you've factored the teeth

Duty slabs are different for different products. Higher on electronics

Further, if it is under-invoiced to save duty, chances are high that after ascertaining the actual price (they check the web site) a penalty is imposed

Hi Sanjay

Hobbyking did not keep any invoice in my parcel
Only a Custom declartion slip with the total cost of the products was stuck

So is lack of bill the main reason for this high duty??

hi
Good to know that there are such clubs in india too.
Had one doubt. Im relocating to India. Can I get my phantom 2 to india with me? Will I have to take clearance from customs or WPC??
Thanks
I had my Phantom and QX 350 along with radios seized at the airport customs office. Fined 5000Rs for attempting. 50 50 chance of being picked.

Hello everyone,

My package is still stuck at Mumbai Customs (>2 months). Two other people on this forum itself are in the same boat as me.

RC002578012MY (VS511)
RC001640861MY (manojswizera)
RC004030365MY (osbapat)

What are your recommendations? None of us have been able to visit the customs office. Should we get our packages cleared through an agent? My package doesn't contain anything objectionable whatsoever. Anyone who's had such an experience before?

I dont think any agents can clear your parcel, because people have reported earlier that they can do that only with a consignment of certain a amount and weight. And I assume that your items are not that highly priced. Moreover parcel that once enters Indian Foreign Post cannot be handled by agents anymore as reported by some members earlier. You can still try your luck as there are 3 of you.

However if your agent knows someone on the inside and is able to help you out, that would be another story.

Frankly no one knows exactly whats objectionable and whats not. They have charged duty on my package which only contained a number of props, while a package containing esc's, receivers and FC's wasnt even opened!
Best bet try to find a clearing agent if you can, otherwise contact Customs since all of you live in Mumbai. 2 months is the max I would wait.

Hi everyone
I ordered a parcel from HObbyKing in January
As per the tracking its in Delhi Customs and still did not reach me

I fought with the HobbyKing chat guy (twice everyday for a month) and they told that they are not able to track it properly.

So I told them to return the money and they returned after 2 week ( fighting in chat everyday for the money)

Now I am least bothered about that parcel.

So in my opinion is worth contacting and screaming at the seller.

Regards
Shyam

@SideWinder Thanks for the reply. I have tried contacting customs through E-mail and phone and... have never received any response from them. I've been wanting to go to the post office but time hasn't permitted.

@Shyam I think that could work for us but honestly it's the customs who are at fault Bang Head Bang Head

Any other suggestions? Can you guys help us in getting these parcels cleared? If you live near Mumbai FPO or something Salute

Hi, I guess you can add my name also to this list Smiley

RF223840162SG (bowser)

I am from Hyderabad and my Syma F1 heli with 2.4GHz transmitter is stuck in Mumbai Customs since Apr 22nd. I also got a notice from them about needing WPC approval. I cannot go to Mumbai to get it cleared. Is there anyone who has a contact in Mumbai Customs who can help me get the clearance?

The tracking status does not say it has been detained. Only says it has been sent to customs. Is there still hope for me? I am thinking of sending customs a mail asking if it can be released by paying a fine. Is that advisable?

You can try contacting your nearest WPC office for type approval of your transmitter.

The WPC site clearly states it doesnt require license to import 2.4ghz frequency radios. Why the HELL does customs do this!!! Bang Head

Edit: Just wondering is using wifi in India illegal without a license? Because my router reads 2.4Ghz wireless router  >Cheesy

2.4 Ghz is a license free band . But according to Indian Laws , every Imported Tx should be type approved (which declares power of Transmitter ) . Officially , Import license is also required for importing Tx-Rx.

But they should have stated clearly on the website! WPC website is all about licensing and importing. And look they even has 2 license free declarations for indoor and outdoor for 2.4ghz bandwidth. It kind of defends the purpose of those declaration say "No License needed for importing such items" and they say "IMPORTED tx should have a import license" although I agree on we must prove it has power lesser than allowed and that is why CE and FCC certificate is for... In 2.4GHz, you dont require license to USE it. But you'll need a license to IMPORT it. WPC FAQs clearly state that.

Q: If a particular product is exempted from license, still I need to notify WPC about it before use? Can I import the same without need of any license?

A: If the product is not Type Approved, then it is required to inform WPC and obtain Type Approval from WPC. Import License is required from WPC to import any equipment, other than Broadcasting Reciver and TVRO System.

You'll get details of procedure at the WPC office itself. Try to meet a high ranking officer. I have been trying to meet the officers at WPC office at my city. Found out that the office is closed since more then TWO YEARS!! No one knows why  Giggle

The procedure as described at the website cant be followed by a normal individual as there are many many things required to which we dont have access. So you should ask a WPC officer first as to what individuals have to do for getting type approval.

Unfortunately, there is no WPC office in my city (Hyderabad). Or I definitely would have tried to get the type approval.
