Yup, i have by now visited their office 5-6 times. Nothing you think of will work, just contact WPC Delhi or give in writing to the customs to have your parcel returned but i am pretty sure your package won't ever meet its sender.

As far as my experience goes, chennai customs are generally good in case of radio. My radio reached with no hassles with duty (which means they do know there is a radio in). A person known to me have also imported a 9x and then again a 9x receiver in a separate parcel both reached safely with no duty on receiver but standard 30% on radio.

You were right Vara! Yesterday I received a notice of show cause memo from custom office asking Invoice and WPC Type Approval.

I searched on the web and found that EQUIPMENT TYPE APPROVAL  is required even if the product is de-licensed. And It takes more than 5 months to get it and in some cases the time is 1 year.

Did any one got EQUIPMENT TYPE APPROVAL? I wonder how it looks like.

The 9x is already type approved, one needs to go to WPC office and ask them a copy of approval letter, some one should do that and share it with the RC community.

WPC in chennai is don't bother to pick up the phone. The WPC bangalore on the other had do respond but they say only chennai office gives WPC NOC and ETA(equipment type approval).

The 9XR doesn't even need a type approval since there is no radio module (by default). But since the 9XR box mentions the word 2.4ghz one needs to prove to the customs that there is no module in it.

I am planning to purchase the following RC plane which has a 2.4GHz radio control etc. The plane is very light weight and small and costs around $90. Shipping is around $120 using UPS International Expedited (may be delivered in 5-7 days). I am shipping this to Mumbai. I just wanted to know if there will be any customs duty that I need to pay? Any help/experiences would be really helpful.

Good that you enquired now or else you would have been real sad afterwards. Of course, don't order anything which has 2.4ghz radio in it, it is destined to get detained. Better is to import by DHL.

Thank you. In the forums I see that 2.4GHz radios are ok to import right? So it is a specific problem with UPS vs DHL?

Why do you need to buy a champ from foreign when you can get skysurfer rtf from rcbazaar which includes a rcb6i, lipo, charger, motor, four servos, 30amp esc and the airframe itself. You can use all pf these items in your future plane too which is a good thing. It`s a little dificult in the champ also it will take months to ship and the customs problem too so better go for skysurfer which is 10k another good option is buy an rcb6i from rcbazaar which qill cost max 3.2k including shipping and an lipo life charger from rcdhamaka which will cost max 700 including shipping and call rcforall guys if they can arrange an mr. Moss combo without an radio and an charger ehich will cost max 3.5 k including shipping so the total is 7.4k and no tension of customs and shipping delays also you can usr these components in your future plane.

Thank you so much. I am very new to RC planes and was looking for a good beginner plane for my son (9 years old). Can you please provide me a link to the Skysurfer RTF? There are many in the rcbazaar so getting confused.

Would like to inform you that your neck will pain flying this model as it will fly for 45 minutes with the current setup!!!! you can also improve the flying time with a better battery. One more thing just buy another motor and you can almost make any plane you want with this setup not the case with a champ.

Hello,
I ordered two items from hobbyking and both of them seem to take long time to come. my first parcel seems to have cleared customs and its say

6/28/2014 10:10:36 AM   INDIA   CHENNAI (MADARS) AIR   Send item to domestic location (Inb)   Air   BANGALORE SUB FGN POST
7/1/2014 3:26:07 PM   INDIA   BANGALORE SUB FGN POST   Send item to domestic location (Inb)   Air   CRC BANGLORE STG TD

what is that CRC? i went to b'lore custom office they told its cleared and forwarded. from last 15 days it had no movement.

my second order seems to be stuck in chennai for some time. is this normal? the tracking says this

7/10/2014 7:16:16 AM   INDIA   CHENNAI (MADARS) AIR   Receive item at office of exchange (Inb)   Air   CHENNAI AIRPORT SORTING OFFICE
7/10/2014 8:13:22 AM   INDIA   CHENNAI (MADARS) AIR   Send item to domestic location (Inb)   Air   BANGALORE SUB FGN POST

any help will be appreciated.

thanks

You might have read posts under this topic. Except tx rx parcels from hobbyking take approx 25 to 30 days. Have patience.  If it is cleared from customs it will reach u in 7 days.   They don't upadate any status once it is cleared by customs.
