Hello Everyone,
@ Gp Freak :- I agree with your point mate. As Goods Below 2000 Rs Are allowed to import Duty free.
@ Abdul :- Nice to know that you got it soon and also there should be some reason they charged you 50 % of the duty I don't know but maybe if there is no reason then they shouldn't  have charged that but well we cant change things now . Well at least you got your parcel mate a way sooner.
Regards,
Aman.

I'm looking to get an fpv kit for my 250 quad, Quanum goggles and a vtx/rx camera kit. The goggles shouldn't have an issue in customs, but vtx/rx is what I'm worried about. Has anyone ordered without an issue? Thanks

Indian Revolution - 100% Pure 100% Hygienic

Hello my friends!

I will be very grateful if anyone can help me in this:

I used EMS service.
Inside the parcel: One tiny motor, a switch and few small plastic parts. No TX, no wireless stuff, just plain simple items.
Total weight: Less than 500gms.
Till date there is no update.

Hi All,

I'm traveling form Toronto to Goa this week and was planning on bringing my hexacopter kit to work on while I'm staying in India.

Originally, I was shipping it as unaccompanied baggage as i'm stopping in EU for a few days to see the sights.

Everything was ok to go, but the Customs Broker on the India side said they won't accept it due to the Remote Frequencies and the size of the Hexacopter.  It is big...900mm Motor to Motor...and all equipment is stored in a big Pelican 1740 case.

He told me i'm better off not bringing this item to India, and it will just be detained and cause a lot of problems.

Got any solutions, or experience with this problem?

I'll have to organize this remotely, as I'm already in Budapest.

Any help would be appreciated.

What's the big issue? Bring the Tx as your accompanied baggage and disassemble the rest (if possible the parts of the frame too) and send it through unaccompanied baggage. If you are bringing other items, pack the components separately...not together. Don't declare the whole thing as hexacopter or drone or something. Just declare individual parts separately e.g. brushless motors, parts of hex frame, hobby parts etc.

There are Rules which require clearance of Tx Rx equipments by a different agency (not customs). Those customs officers who know the rule, refer such equipments to the agency for clearance (don't remember the name but you can search the forum...experienced members know that) and there is no scope for "flexibility". Other parts can be cleared by customs officials themselves. But if you mention the whole thing as "drone" or "UAV" etc., detention is possible if the officer is aware of the DGCA ban (not every customs officer is expected to know laws other than customs laws). Bringing it in CKD condition will not make it appear as a quad. That's why I suggested it.

As for the radio, if you bring it in checked in baggage of hand baggage (if allowed by security) then the chance of getting it cleared is more. There is no clearing agent (customs broker) involved in case of accompanied baggage and scrutiny is less than unaccompanied baggage (there is simply no time) if you opt for green channel.

Seems like the laws are limiting an industry thats growing exponentially.

Well UAVs are banned in this country by DGCA (not customs). Its our good luck that Customs is still allowing import of "drones". Not all customs officers are aware of DGCA ban and since there is no specific internal circular regarding such ban in customs, they let it go in most cases when declared as "toys". In one notable case they seized hundreds of such drones (mini quads imported by one plus one mobile) for lucky winners and destroyed them. Other than that, there were no major drone seizures by customs.

40mhz has no restriction. Its a toy frequency!

if you get restriction notice on tracking site then its only that custom wants money. If you order through register then postman will collect mostly 40% of the value  if they think the invoice is not right or if they are satisfied with the invoice value then maybe 10-20%

bOX size also matters

but they won't send it back, they will contact you! Money matters!

ohh! i thought you ordered online!

Well in your case you should contact the airport customs if the package is still with them. If possible explain them that its a toy and completely legals. But doubt they will be interested in hearing you so ask how much duty to pay then you are talking there language. Pay the duty and get your item.

if you have the original invoice then might help also mention that its for personal use and don't need the licence!

They must have given a detention memo. You should go there with your passport, detention memo, invoices and price lists (if any). If they say that helicopter is restricted, ask them about notification or circular under which its restricted. If its about the value then you can show your invoice.

Hey everyone this is my first post on RCIndia and unfortunately the topic cannot be more depressing. I just moved to Pune from New York and wanted to carry over my hobby of flying quadcopter, I've been involved in this for over 2 years now starting with basics like Cheerson CX-10's to Hubsan's and DJI's.

Unfortunately I did not bother doing any research before ordering myself a Phantom 3 :-/ and now it's stuck at Delhi Customs with FedEx which is asking me to get either a NOC from WPC or an ETA. I feel so stupid having done no research otherwise I would have avoided ordering one in the first place.

I was under the impression that my brother has an Import License and thats all it would take. He frequently orders computer chips etc for his Bitcoin thing. I took the liberty of contacting a WPC Agent in Delhi who said "No Drones are allowed now". Imagining that I was ready to pay for his services I am heartbroken.

Can anyone here guide me to someone who can do this? I am based in Pune thats the major problem as I won't be able to come to Delhi and run behind some Government officers cause I already know how our great country functions.

Please PM me, or call me on 839 088 9009.

Thanks and I hope to post something more exciting soon :-)

Cheers!
Shri
