One step at a time :)

Hello there,
Please do read and sign this petition:
https://www.change.org/p/mr-hillol-biswas-director-aed-directorate-general-of-civil-aviation-draft-car-sec-3-series-x-requirements-for-civil-remotely-piloted-aircraft-system-rpas/nftexp/ex20/v3/348916364?recruiter=348916364&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=facebook&utm_campaign=share_page&utm_content=ex20%3Av3

RCI has > 10K members. We need all the signatures we can get. It's a good idea to sign it if you are unable/willing to directly contact DGCA.

What does that mean? Can anybody explain?

We would like to expressly state that we do not claim to represent any activity by Drones and Multicopters, which have recently entered public domain and which have become a cause for concern globally.

We feel that the CAR Draft has been perceived primarily with reference to Drones, whose flight characteristics and envelop are grossly different from regular model aircraft flown for sports, hobby or recreational purposes.

From what I understand,
The draft is focused on multirotors only.
Primary focus is on larger crafts. While they are equipped with GPS, telemetry and stable video recording apparatus which may infringe on privacy, hobby planes on the other hand do not have such equipment. They are solely meant for recreational purposes.
This petition is focused on getting hobby airplanes out of the category of so called "drones" as they simply can't be compared with multirotors and giving much more freedom to the average hobby flier.

Here we go again trying to pin everything on multirotors/ request exemption for plane pilots. And with a Change.org petition (which in my opinion is unlikely to have as much impact) by an organisation that claims to represent all the aeromodellers in India. Once again we have the stupid request for a ban on all payloads and asking for other extra regulations that aren't even in the draft. The argument that fixed wing models up to 30 kg pose less of a threat than multirotors up to 2 kg and so should have laxer regulations is pretty funny to read.

It would be nice if people actually thought about the condition of the hobby/ industry in India as a whole before writing/ signing petitions and comments intended only to push their own interests.

Retreat, Hell!

Here we go again trying to pin everything on multirotors....

That's mostly because of aerial photography drones and people flying them irresponsibly. Just a year ago they were rare, but now almost every photo studio in my area either owns a DJI drone or rents one. Some of the major event management companies in my city have as many as 5 AP drones.

Also, multirotors are mostly flown at lower altitudes and/ or high speeds increasing the chances of mishaps.

Planes, on the other hand, are mostly flown on large open fields away from people (and often on the outskirts).

That totally makes sense. But, from their perspective, both hobby planes and multirotor 'drones' can be 'misused' the same way.

Maybe we (us as well as the DGCA) should focus more on regulations regarding 'where' UAVs are flown instead of weights and heights. UAV's should be allowed to fly only in large open areas (like those within educational institutions or outside densely populated areas).

The time for all these debates and discussions is long over. This petition has only a few hours to be complete

If you have a different viewpoint, go ahead and write directly.

But it is too late for discussions now. In fact, I had started this http://www.rcindia.org/rc-general-topics/the-dgca-strikes-back/  over 3 years ago

And here I thought we all were under the same category, guess not. Doesn't matter either way. Our fpv quads could still be flown without the need of any registration(3" quad)
Those who agree with the draft sign it, and those who disagree, don't sign.

@SK1701 Quads are the main issue, capable of being flown precisely and holding position, carrying cameras, other payloads, etc.
So, yeah.

As rightly considered by many, multirotors are pretty much the worst thing to have happened to aeromodelling.

Please people,
This thread is going in the direction of "DGCA strikes back".
We don't want multirotors to be boycotted. We just want planes to be in a different category.
Not meant to offend anyone.
The signatures have crossed 03k, that's good news!
The multirotor guys who have been offended, please feel free to write to DGCA. Multi's are a part of the hobby as well. We just want planes to be categorised differently.
As they both are different types of RC crafts.
Rules for one won't work well on other.
We must also consider the fact that the person who wrote the suggestions may not be knowing so much about multirotors.
That's all. Not intend to boycott quads at all.
Their misuse potential is high, yes.
why don't you guys make another petition for quads as well?
This petition got 3k signs in 2 days.
Yours will be able to get enough signs as well.
Most of us will be pleased to sign that too!
Peace.

The fact is that Multirotors do not have to be flown in"Line of Sight" and can be remotely controlled at great distances. Those Fixed Wing aircraft that offer this feature should be in the same category

It is a group of Fixed wing & Heli enthusiasts who have taken this initiative. Since the DGCA original notification was issued over 3 years ago, multirotor enthusiasts had adequate time.

There is no use in not taking initiative, and then trying to pull down someone else's initiative. Everyone waits for someone else to do something although they are the ones who need to do something themselves. Instead of grumbling over the petition the signing of which is in any case voluntary, either make another petition or write individually.

Why continue this? We get it,  you guys don't like multirotors. Just remember that most of the people who sign are the ones who don't read and blindly sign. After this link got posted in idrl (Indian drone racing league) the petition got 200+ blind followers who after signing realise how stupid they were. So let's just leave it at that. All I'm trying to say is read before you sign and only if you agree. I don't agree therefore will not sign it.

There was never any compulsion to sign

Incidentally, has any representation been made by Drone Fliers? If not, please do so ASAP, even whether in a individual capacity
