Title: query regarding counter twist force
Post by: sajid6300shaikh on May 09, 2012, 08:26:21 PM
Hi pros,  :help:
We all know in a heli there's a counter rotational force existing due to rotation of blades in one direction and we balance it using a propulsion on tail of heli so heli remains stable.
My query is,
when we connect the motor on nose of our airplane then how do we balance the counter twisting force acting on plane's body.?
this question arised because every time my plane took off it had a tendency to roll in one direction.  :(
and me being a beginner had a hard time controlling it.. :'(

there is torque on the aeroplane too, evident when you hover like a heli, you have to hold off the ensuing roll with a opposite aielron, however in forward flight this is compensated by
(a) Skewed thrust line
(b) Cantered Fin (Some aeroplanes have a canter of upto 4.5 deg)
(c) by rudder and aileron trim

depending on the motor  prop and the RPM the amount of torque changes, however it is quite less as compared to the rolling force the aeroplane can generate in forward flight, so rudder aileron compensation works well. however there or other issues of this torque and it is different for a left and the right turn which we shall discuss later.

but your case is a premature take off and a harsh climb, the roll that you see is the incipient spin condition. for a high winger like that she should fly off the ground by the virtue of speed and lift attained. not by pulling back on the stick. read these  threads
