Damn.. this sucks! Nowadays pretty much everything comes with wifi/bluetooth and uses the 2.4g band but they only find us to harass :banghead:

They harass us cuz all of us do nothing about this. We all want to fly and have fun but noone wants to take a proper step and work on this with concerned authorities. We all think like this-->

oh why shud i take such pain when i get all the things needed to fly somehow from some LHS or anywhere else.
oh i will get that Tx or Rx when I go outside India for next trip.
Oh its not my job to do something like this.
or some ppl - i got everything i want (for rc flying) then why would i waste my time on something like this.  And even if I do it what wud I get out of it?
Some ppl simply don’t have enough resources and time and think they will do it sooner or later but…..

so in short noone is going to do anything about this. we all are waiting for a miracle to happen. until then keep flying and have fun.

I have been importing things for a long time now and if my parcel is detained, my first question to them always is " WHY HAVE U HELD UP MY ITEM?" they simply say its because of this or that. And I ask them SHOW ME IN WRITING AND GIVE A COPY TO ME”. Believe me i have never asked a third question. Try this next time if ur parcel is held up. If they send u a letter stating that u need this or that permission then send them a letter back and ask "please give me a copy of order or policy under which i am required to produce the permission u r asking for because for all I know I don’t require any such permission?" All u need to do is ask them to give it in writing and under which policy? Its their job to show u the rule/policy by which they r holding any item. They will never give anything in writing. If they give it to u in writing and u cant handle it further then contact me on PM . But I sincerely hope u wont need to PM me.  I am giving my secret cuz we really need to do something about this and I am fed up. Also note be polite but firm when talking to custom @$$****s.

PS- some ppl do take pain and get proper permission like the guy whose plane was detained and he got it after 2 years of court proceedings. BTW I fall under last category as described above. Happy flying. Thx

"Apparently, Imran had got himself a toy helicopter from New York which works on Wi-Fi. Little did the actor know that the customs authorities in Mumbai would have an objection to it. The officials demanded that Imran get permission from the Telecom Department for possessing such a toy."

We are such a Banana Nation. If we have such an incompetent bodies like TRAI/DoT which spend more time for personal monitory gains, why does the nation honor regulations from FCC/CE ?

"...get permission from the Telecom Department for possessing such a toy." Such a metaphor.

I wish the use of unparliamentary language was permitted on this forum. "This sucks" doesn't do justice to description of the situation  :banghead: , I would LOVE to define it more accurately, given the chance........ >:D ;D

All the Govt. agencies copy rules and regulations word to word mostly from USA & other leading nations. They dont even have idea where to start let alone defining toys, RC planes etc. I have even seen companies copying policies from other companies (ofcourse Govt. ones). They dont even bother to correct it just cut & paste. We have many laws which are not relevant these days.

We have many laws which are not relevant these days.

The country runs on "Indian Telegraph Acts, 1881" (Yes! over 130 years old), long before Radio, forget TV or Internet were born. No wonder scams like 2G Spectrum could easily architected with the uncountable loop holes.

Just imagine, a 10 year old kid (as toys are meant for kids) knocking the door Dept of Telecomm to get his toy approved, when our netas abd babus are celeberating there new 3G booty!!! LOL!
I see a consent and unrelenting quote in such a report from the Customs "Approval of Telcomm ministry"

I wonder, if all the Laptop's Wifi, iPod Touch Wifi, Phone's Blue Tooth doesn't need such approval. I guess much of commercial interest of Telecom company's lobby if fueling the convenience one can easily slip with such devices.

Please forgive me. I am a kind of crackpot who strongly believes that USA never sent man to Moon and "That's one small step for [a] man, one giant leap for mankind" is nothing but worlds biggest scam.

The problem arise when they see a plane/heli along with the transmitter. I had been lucky to bring my Parkzone 2.4Ghz RTF with complete declarations that "Its a radio controlled plane" and marked as "fragile" cleared the customs of Bangalore on my visit back from Charlotte, US. And also was able to carry, in the second trip, was Spektrum DX6i... once again clearly mentioned that its a "2.4GHz Radio Transmitter" while this was in the luggage so they might have missed it and never asked to open the package.

Both the packages cleared all the customs from Charlotte->Atlanta->Dubai->Bangalore. Lucky me I guess :)
