Title: RC Heli Demo at schools
Post by: VC on June 15, 2010, 06:05:40 PM
In a bid to popularise the hobby amongst youngsters, I have started organising demo's at various schools in and around Guwahati. This is a small video from my first ever demo. I was nervous as hell, as I had hardly had any practice flying this baby. Call it beginners luck, but everything went off better than I had expected! She turned out to be a stable flyer.

All the students signed up for a basic chuck glider building workshop, scheduled to be held in July.

Please wish my team, lots of luck.

Regards,

VC

You need serious stick time on the sim :giggle:

Kudos to the effort

BTW, is this is the model from Hyderabad ? ;)

Yes sir, the same one. Your comment about the sim bit has now left me wondering......did I do such a bad job? ??? ;D

If I could achieve such 'magnificent expertise'  :giggle: with this baby in my first outing, imagine what I could do with a Walkera 68 3D!  (:|~ (:|~ (:|~

Hey Great going VC!  {:)} {:)} Man, thats too cool, going to schools and giving demo.

Next time when I goto native, I will do the same there, should help small kids really wonder how great this stuff would be. It would be a dream come true for them even to see a 450/500 size heli hovering/sports flying in front them. Though I am confident now itself, I would need more practice to feel safe.

Iam really inspired by your interest in spreading awareness of this hobby.

Regarding sim time ;D Ya, you would need TONS of it, also you can slightly take it outdoors and make the heli go bigger circuits. The key point is once the heli is in the air, it should never touch the ground unless you run out of battery or if you need to tune the heli.

The "sim time" comment was to show that you need to "hold a hover".  The heli was pirouetting all the time, and that would put any beginner out of ease. Judicious application of rudder control is needed, which would come automatically with more sim time :)

That's the best part about this forum, there are people willing to teach you. Thanks Vinay and Anwar Sahib. I couldn't have asked for better Trainers. Points noted.
