Hi experts,

Need small advice from you.
I am about begin covering of the wing, fuselage and tail-plane of the balsa model airplane.
I got rolls of covering film (unknown brand) for this purpose. Problem I am facing is I am unable to strip out the protective coating on the adhesive side of the film. (The Youtubes demos simply whisk it off the film effortlessly) ! Tried desperately, but not getting results
Is there a safe way to remove these protective covers without damaging the film ?

About 1/4” from the corner, makea diagonal cut inthe backing film.
Be careful, don’t cut the main film.
Now if you bend that corner, you’ll be ableto get a fingernail under the backing film.

The other trick is to rub the corner on your palm.
If you’re lucky, a small triangle of the backing sheet will release itself.

Asking my wife to do it invariably works.
But then she’s the RC AUNT, so her fingers have a different magic...
So trust your wife

Regards

Don't wake a Tiger until you've factored the teeth

I take 2 pieces of cellotape, about an inch long; stick one on each side of the film on a corner at right angles. Then holding the tape tabs just peel off

Thank you Sanjay and Iyer Sir.

Normally the protective film peels off quite easily, but here I got a roll which was particularly difficult. I tried the tape method, but that didn't work. The angular cut and then finger-nail peeling worked.
Guess the roll must be old stock perhaps.

Thank you both for your helpful suggestions.
