Hello Fellow RCians,

I am Kunal Sawant, a B.Tech Aerospace Engineer by profession. I have been into RC Planes since the start of my engineering and custom made a few planes, flown and crashed them successfully. Since getting attracted and involved into all this RC madness, I have kind of got addicted to remote control cars and planes, but the problem we all RC enthusiasts face is that an event suited to our abilities is never conducted where we can show-off our skills, practice and share knowledge and experience regarding our RC equipment. A country where engineers are 9 out of 10 people standing together, the RC infrastructure of our country is a sad thing to be observed. Only physical sports are given importance. But if our country is more based towards technology why is our RC infrastructure lacking ? People meet and compete with RC cars, planes and Robos but without proper platform our fellow RCians are gonna diminish and the newcomers are gonna lose interest in this field of technology and fun.

So when me and my friends roamed around and saw the crestfallen state of our RC enthusiast, we thought of initiating an idea. Small RC events keep on happening all around India, but frankly they are not doing anything to improve the RC hype. It was an idea of an idea to start up a pan-India RC movement to bring all the RC enthusiast from all over India under one roof. To induce the competitive spirit and to uplift the innovative thinking we RCians have, to show the world what we posses and that someday we can lift the RC sports to the level of F1 !!

So with this small idea we started working together to build the most exciting event of India, and with all work scheduled, we will be launching a pan- India RC event in the coming year. We will be presenting us RCians to the Indian public in a completely different light. Our goal : 1) to provide an all-over India platform to the RC enthusiast 2) to encourage more people to join the RC gang 3) to launch a a RC competition like nothing else witnessed in this world 4) to try and involve all engineering colleges in India to take up the RC mantle and increase thought process and innovation in RC 5) and lastly, launch our very own standardized RC car, plane and other equipment.

I request you all RCians to come together and help creating this wonderful world where we can come out of our shell and create wonders. Your support is essential to us and with you people by our side we will surely achieve the goals that we have set. We want to transform the RC world and with your support we will definitely succeed.

Are you guys in this idea ? Do you want to race ? Do spend your valuable time in replying.

PS: We will be conducting the first official meet in Mumbai, second in Bangalore, third in Chennai and forth in Pune to kick start the production of the mega-event.

Jai Hind

RC India - Flying and racing with open minds !

Are you not aware of previous efforts like http://www.amai.in (at least for the flying type) ? They do conduct "all India" events in a well organized way.

Mixing various RC disciplines does not seem to work, at least based on the examples of other nations.

Yes Anwar, I have learned flying from Prashant Sir who's is a member of Aero Modeller's Association India and did attend their event in 2013 at Pinjore, but the way we want to do is in quite a different format from the conventional ways.

And yes many a times a gathering of various RC disciplines don't seem to work and thats our hardest test, to make it work with a gathering.

We will be releasing a video letting people know at what level we have planned our event in the coming week. I hope the RCians will love what we want to bring to the table.

RC India - Flying and racing with open minds !

I can quickly attribute it to the number of "self-financing" engineering colleges that have sprung up all over the place (100% applicable to Kerala) Smiley

We used to say "every 3rd person you meet on the street is an engineer these days".  I guess this is a little more extreme version of that.

The real question is how relevant an engineering background is to RC.  Not much, based on the crowd I have seen so far.  In fact engineers get distracted easily because they have many thing they can tinker with, while non-engineers indulging in RC seem to enjoy it more because tinkering with RC makes them feel like they are engineers for that duration Grin

I am car and plane enthusiast....the idea that you have specified above is great..because people like me are looking for a large platform to compete and show our skills to the world. Though i got clarity about wat u r trying to achieve, have you got any social media page so that we all can join in and see ur progress and get ready for the competition...!!   I am soo eagerly waiting for ur event...i hope it does change the face of RC competition.

May i also suggest that u include robotics...like robo-wars in it...coz many of my friends and me are eager to get a platform for robo-wars

I studied/attended/completed engineering Giggle so hope I'm an engineer (job also says so). Totally right on the point.

Patient Zero

Its not about just getting to the part where many are into RC. Its also about the safety, if this hobby grows too much there will be many people who cater to our need and any person who wants something "RC" can buy it from a local store. Not many get into the hobby as it is considered expensive. People from some other nations with a vast RC community just buy RC stuff crash it around not considering its consequences. With the indian jugaad mind letting everyone have the power of RC isnt good.

Just saying that promoting RC is good but it should be done in a controlled manner. All the best guys.

The RC community in India is like an undercover musical band thing, they rarely come out in open and thats why only a selected kind of people know about it. During my early flying days I always kept on searching for like minded people to meet and enjoy the flying together but alas a thing like that never happened, there were RC meets no doubt but not a very public meet and only a select few people met without giving other people the chance to join in. I am not telling thats their fault..they wanted more and people to join in but were not able to communicate properly to the public regarding the meets. And still even on many RC forums people keep on searching for groups to join in but the many end up getting disappointed.

And if we keep the RC power to select few will further discourage people to invest in this field. Many people are still treating RC as a toy, because they don't know its real value and haven't actually taken up efforts to built up a RC car or plane.

But yes its true what you have said. Sir, advice from experience people like you is always welcome. We will surely look into it regarding the Indian jugaad mind.
Thank you Sir

Practice, and only Practice will make you perfect

Kunsaw

Meets like this happened annually, latest DGCA advisory has prevented enthusiasts from taking up such events due to DGCAs intervention, so ! for the flying types , it still is fly at your own risk

You are absolutely right sir. Though colleges are one of the thing whose support we intend to take to promote out RC and hence thats where engineering colleges comes to play because art and commerce colleges would not be the suitable ones to approach at the start for the technical event like RC and hence at the start apart from the various RC groups, aiming for the engineering colleges as well.

As mentioned above I have already been part of such events being from the Aerospace background myself. The Wings India and Aero Modeller's Association India have tied up to enhance and promote aeromodelling in India.

Hello people,

We here have been working out pretty well with the event formation. The track design along with the event logo and everything else is completed. There is one thing we actually need help from your side. Our track design has been made ready, and hence we wanted someone with a buggy or a truggy to test ride on the track. I know our RC equipment is costly and precious to each of us but now currently I am asking you all guys as a fellow RCian to take up the mantle and help us in testing out the track. Before going public for the event we want to test out how our track fares in all the conditions with the car's variable speed and weight because we dont want any hindrance during the race as we want you guys to enjoy as much as possible.

So if anyone is interested to come to our track and test drive their RC model on it then please do drop in your number in a private message to me. We will contact you and fix a date and time suitable for you.

PS: It not that we will be driving your vehicle. You have to come along with your model and drive it on the track yourself while we take readings and measurements.
