Hi,

Will be ordering few parts from USA. They are providing only USPS priority mail or express mail.

What are your experiences with the Indian mail n customs once such packages reach Indiale? Is tracking available once in India and how much time does it takes to reach our doorstep?

USPS Will Become EMS When it reaches India..
SO you can track through EMS tracking..
EMS Is a Good option But About Customs, Based upon your luck..
I have got a parcel from us through usps Reached me in 9days afetr shipping with some customs..

even priority mail is excellent but ask the seller to give you the tracking number.  It is like registore mail in India.  Have used both with ebay.com and found then both to be good.  Express is 3-4 days but costly about 50% more than priority.  Priority takes about 15 days.

I did also order via priority mail
The tracking says custom clearance  parcel being processed at customs
Does it mean it cleared customs
Can someone tell when can I expect my box

Which mail service should we choose from amainhobbies.com .? Confused with there courier service options...

The shipped it on the same day, 01may14. Left from La/CA US On 6th may.

After that no tracking info., I've given up on it .. Lol

One sentence! USPS's service to India is Pathetic !

lost 3 parcels ! they don't rep to mail, they i guess throw parcels into water or worse may be stealing them !

I lost 4 parcel last year they are just stealing

Oh boy, I just ordered a frame and it is being shipped via USPS. I should have read this post earlier.

pay a bit extra get it by UPS,FedEx or dhl ...saves alot of time and u get it quick ...not customs hassles

The site I was buying from did not have UPS/DHL/FEDEX options. Grrrrrrr........

In future, I will buy from sites that have this shipping option.

Lost 2 very important parcels through USPS. Never chose them thereafter.

Is usps priority mail is any GOOD because .....i read in lots of places that ....normal usps is not GOOD rat all.....
How much dhl chargers for Shipments in India ....I am going to order cloverleaf antenna from usa worth 65 dollers ....what is the chance that it Geroh stuck in Customer.....  and usps is chrging 40 ¢ which more then half the cost of ...antenna itself ...what should I do

priority = 40usd
priority mail express = 50 usd

i would suggest you NOT TO BUY  with first class shipping , it will NOT ARRIVE, (india post will steal it ).

Once you receive customs notice for paymenT ....what are the options to pay that duty ....by check or. Online.  What maethod you prefer .... 

Till now I only received one time custo.Duty notic didn't paid it and claimed a replacmemt for parcel from banggood

seeing the antenna itself, customs will most likely ask for some licence or permission from wpc (http://www.wpc.dot.gov.in/)

we live in india , only CASH is accepted , no online facility , (they dont prioritise you at all , even if you pay them)

UPS AND DHL CHARGE 70USD FROM US TO INDIA I BELEIVE

Means I have to go down to customs Office pay duty and get it myself

IF YOU WANT TO GET IT FAST YOU CAN GO THERE N PAY THEM CASH THERE

OR YOU CAN PAY THE 'UNKNOWN AMOUNT ' AT YOUR POST OFFICE ON THE SPOT

SO it will Arrive rat MY local post Office with a customs duty slip??? Attached with it..

if you are lucky one , you get receipt also , but the post office system of india as i per my experience is very 'kanjoos' and will tell you only amount of customs duty. and take money from you.

usa parcels (only) attract huge customs duty.

i would rather urge you to consider some other option as the HUGE amount of money paid by us to customs , isnt worth the service they provide

maybe you can buy lots of other value for money goods than paying them customs

@ Kartik:- Well you if you choose any Method In USPS you can ask the seller to Register it for Extra Security I think that Costs about 13 $ USD Approx and charges increases with Increase in parcel weight or Dimension well in that Feature also a First class Airmail Becomes Registered like Registered Airmail Coming From Other Countries Eg :- China or Singapore Or Hongkong.Also A Signature will be Required at the Time Of Delivery but yes if you choose Priority or Other methods you can ask the seller to Register Them too as its More Secure and ordering by DHL would not be good as they are detaining Items Related to R/C or Radio Tx/rx because of New Government Rules and Regulations ( Well No Offence to Them as they are just following the Rules well this is what I think. Well No Offence to them)
Well I think Duties are To Be paid or Collected at the Time of Delivery right?? It is always collected at the Time of Delivery maybe sometimes in Advance needed but I think always collected at the time of Delivery well this is what it think.

and yes after the parcel arrives in india, it can still take significant time to doorstep after release from customs (sometimes a week) so no value for money at all

also registered mail WILL BE inspected and charged. as i mentioned the india customs charged specially from usps parcels

as i remember my 2 REGISTERED mail (usps) were with customs duty

TILL DATE they have NOT arrived

when did your parcel arrived in India how long it is in customs???

What item did you order in that package? ?? What Ways its cost ....

generally it takes 6 days to reach india. as i saw in tracking

another 7 days for customs clearance , may vary till months if you dont submit invoices

another 5 days to home

total expenses 40usd priority + customs + item value

STEALING as the staff customs admitted itself, is now a profession at india customs

the PAIN i have been through those 2 parcels , better not ask details as it will refresh my memory.

cost was 6000 of 1st and 10,000 of 2nd parcel

What is the difference between priority and ...express gmail Service. ...why charges for express is 10 doller more then priority .....why????

They both use almost same method whole way

Well Just An Other Way of Making Money Guess( No Offence).Well The Parcels of Priority and Express Shipments When will be in Transit i think Express will be a bit fast but when they are dispatched to India then Even a Express Parcel will be become like Registered Airmail only and it will take time.If you see in India Sometimes if we are sending a latter to Someone inside India then if you use speedpost and Some other Persons Use Registered Post then Sometimes Registered Post which has Lower Charges than Speedpost may Reach sooner than Speedpost It Really Happens.

yes you are correct on this one, priority mail express intl is well known EMS service that is handled more faster in both countries. the fact that its express in nature and name 'EMS' only makes it 10usd expensive than parcel service.

even i would recommend


as chinese EMS are 25-30 usd only, same goes for singapore post EMS

With my talks to delhi customs officer i remember singapore post and USPS have some parternship.

Since then i have STOPPED buying with usps.

I asked them to declaire value of the antenna not more then 20 dollers and ship them in a very ordinary packaging with nothig written ON i. .....metion the product as toy antenna or Just antenna
And they have agreed to do it .... 
Would that help with customs clearance and duty lavied ON the product???

i cant say about duties though its around 28% i think.

My package was shipped ON 2 june from usa and today I received MY package rat HOME no customs paid but ON the box 321 rs should to be paid by me which I didn't .......   really happy Gotta the newest airblad antennas 5.8 ghz system ...thanks blustoneairlines

Last month i have lost one parcel. I ordered some fishing Lines from Ebay on May13 and they shipped through USPS priority mail after waiting a month there is no news about the parcel so contacted the seller for the refund.  :banghead: :banghead:

Surprisingly, of ALL over a Dozen times, my experience with even "Unregistered" USPS package has been better than Registered HK/China/SG post.
Though they dont provide tracking once they land in India, they have always reached me in in much better physical shape and not even opened or charged by customs.
But yes, YMYV

yes i recently ordered with priority mail , from jun 2 i received it on 22 jun , paid 3000 rs customs , do you think its worth the time they made me wait for the parcel.

may be they considered me as RICH - delhi ncr resident n so, so extract as much money as they want from me.
