Fixed wing model aircraft too can be used similarly

Difference is

A Fixed Wing model needs considerably more skill and practice to do that
For the payload required, the size would be enormous, and it would be spotted much earlier

Fixed wing would fly much faster.
Can be flown from further away.
With the automation available nowadays fixed wing is almost as easy to operate as drone.
Main difference i feel is automated drones is available in rtf, Which anyone can get hands on.

Iyer Sir, flying without any electronics, pure flight as a chuck glider is the best way to enjoy aeromodelling, and its also the most efficient in terms of costs. I learnt aeromodelling by this way only.

Answer to the question of topic is no, to be blunt. Does banning drones make the world a safer place, I think not, maybe 0.01% safer. But this is my opinion and am sure governments will look at it differently.. and of course "commercial" drones will still find it's place cause the money needs to flow right?

Well to kill our beloved hobby, a multi-rotor (Drones are flown by the army - are autonomous jet kind of aircrafts) need not attempt an attack on a VIP , not at all !

It has already achieved maybe 50% of its task (of killing the aeromodelling hobby), without aiding any sort of violent activities.  Clap

  • The rights to legally fly a hobbygrade aircraft - Gone ! (it is quite a global issue currently)
Flying club fields lost - due to new restrictions
why restrictions after decades of aeromodelling..... maybe somebody lifting a camera with 4
rotors did not understand "With great power comes great responsibility"
  • Importing parts, radio equipment, whole model, good luck with that  Roll Eyes
  • Scores of international hobby stores went under the multi-copter wave - loss of business, to multis (ReadyHeli, fastlad, to name a few) Help Me
  • Instead rise of cheap imports from BG and Aliexp  Salute
  • One more stupid question from the public when you are flying, concentrating hard and they walk up from nowhere / behind and ask "isme Camera hai kya?"  Giggle just guess which flying craft fed them this idea Head Scratching
  • most importantly, the ever looming law enforcement and their rules making a hobbyist feel like a criminal

I was a part of a club of weekend flyers, where they had to Ban all rotory crafts owing to authorities classifying Helis, multirotors, racing quads, co-axial toy helis everything that could hover as a DRONE !

I go so far as to advise 3D fix wing pilots not to do prop hangs for the fear of being classified as a drone  Giggle

and guess where it all started... with "the PHANTOM of the opera" and the "Chinese PARROT" and the likes (well you know what i am talking about Roll Eyes)

This might not be the end of the hobby, but may it not be the beginning of the end either

My comments may seem like rants (and they are partly   Grin) but it is Monday and I just could not hold back !
