So, India has banned the import of foreign drones which I don't necessarily agree with. However for those of us who still own a personal drone and want to carry it for vacation back home, it's best to cover all the bases if you're stopped by customs.

I searched a lot for this but it wasn't straightforward to find. To fly a drone in India you need ETA approval from WPC. If I'm not wrong, this is specifically for the remote of the drone because it operates at certain frequencies. I did a search for RC231 which is the RC for my DJI mini 2 and there is already a ETA for this. Posting it for everyone's benefit.

Edit: Although this applies everywhere in India, it will be enforced most likely only at customs if they want to trouble you.

It definetly makes no sense...why would they ban the  import of foreign drones.. its like as if India is manufacturing world class drones.. list the number of drone manufacturers in India which makes drones like DJI?? before taking such a decsion the Govt must considder all these points.

The craziest thing is that you are allowed to import parts for drones. So assembled in India is fine. Wow, so much for the sentiment.

My question was do they make fuss on domestic travel as well?
Anyone experienced this on domestic onboarding and travel?
