Is the Hoskote runway affected by flooding ?
Yes indeed. When I went there in Sept-Oct last year after a break, it was indeed flooded till ankle high.  Lets see how long can we continue flying!

Hoskote guys, I saw a big snake (5-6feet long) which passed by my car and was around a metre away from my car when I was entering the runway area .
Please lock your car and take extra precautions and dont let the kids run here and there.

In which case attach floats to the landing gear and keep flying - of course will need to sit inside the car or on the roof.

i'll be in bangalore from 3July to 17July.
I'll definitely try to come on 3rd.
Now i am in a dilemma if i should bring my scratch-built ones. I am worried i'll embarrass myself greatly, and also the repairing stuff i bought is in shipment. so the a/c is a total jugaad, but it flies.
Its not like i dont have space to fly here, i have space but the problem is that its too windy here.

My wife gifted me a Nine Eagles Sky Eagle. I tried it a couple of times and managed to crash it. No injuries to the plane; just to my pride.

So, I am here asking for help. We live near the NICE road on Kanakapura road. Are there any members in the area who might be able to give me some practical tips. I read a lot of tutorials and watched a few videos. Still, when it comes to practical flying, I think I could use some help.

Which brings me to the second part of the problem. Are there any places nearby where people meet regularly? I haven't checked out the place near E City. I tried flying in the land near my apartment (the area is still not developed). The wind is a little too strong and I crashed both times because of strong tailwind (at least that is my excuse).

One place I might be able to fly is in the basketball court at the apartment before anyone starts using it. Would that much space be enough for a beginner?

Thanks,
Pradeep

Flyers in Bangalore usually fly in Hoskote, Yellahanka, IISc etc. Please see a complete list in
http://www.rcindia.org/rc-locations-and-clubs/mega-list-of-rc-fields-locations-clubs-in-india/

Hoskote field is currently marooned and would be off the limits till Sept End. In the mean while people would be flying near Yellahanka Air base. Please contact the BAA members for more information by joining the Yahoo Groups:

bangaloreaeromodellersassociation@yahoogroups.com,

Do enough of practice on Simulator before attempting a Heli/Plane.

cheers.

Hi Anwar, people in Bangalore are flying just anywhere, including me in my backyard. The above pics are fron Annekal outside Banganlore, which Sujju and his team uses. But more popular fields include Hoskote and the latest near Yellahanka which people from newly formed BAA (Bangalore Aeromodelers Association ) use :

Link to BAA Yellahanka field (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=Bellary+Rd&daddr=Unknown+road&geocode=FcGUxwAdjvmfBA%3BFYViyAAdd2OfBA&hl=en&mra=dme&mrsp=1&sz=18&sll=13.133178,77.553815&sspn=0.003025,0.003449&ie=UTF8&ll=13.133898,77.579441&spn=0.048396,0.087891&t=h&z=14)

One may first like to join the club Yahoogroup and contact Moderator/Mr Indradev to get permission to fly there
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/bangaloreaeromodellersassociation/

Can anyone tell how long we will not be able to fly at hoskote lake-bed based on past experience  8-) 8-) 8-)
I also wanted to join bangaloreaeromodellersassociation@yahoogroups.com to have more information but don't know the exact process.
Can someone help me out? I have already sent a mail for this, is it enough?
Are people flying at BAA Yelahanka even on saturdays??
Looking at the current situation I am even planning to give IISC airfield a try.
Please help :help: :help: :help:

dinesh, the hoskote lake bed is half flooded, they have opened some near by dam itseems and have let the water in.
We went and tried the other half of the hoskote bed, it was flyable for foam fliers. It was dry.

I have sent you the mail ID of Mr Indradev. Ask him to add you. Also, both IISc and BAA's field is not 'as' open to everyone. Mt Eshwar moderated the entry to IISc and you have to ask Mr Indradev for Yelahanka's

To Fly foamies, you can come to my place as well.

I am new to this hobby and would like to know if I can fly my Rc plane in the electronic city location.
would like to join someone if any one is planning to go to the said location this weekend.

My small group  last flew in Electronic City field in Nov last year. That field is near to apartment of ' phoenixsunil' and you may PM him for the location. The route to the field is a bit obscure. I have myself not heard from Sunil for long , so if does not reply to your PM, I can  give you his No.

There is a comparable field behind my apartment in Kormangala where I occasionally fly Electric / Foamies. You can fly there if feasible to you.

I guess this answers the PM you have sent to me as well.

Hi
Am new to this forum and  I've been trying to fly things for a very long time and never succeeded.
I've built some planes out of scratch build plans of the Internet so far i have flown  them may be 10feet that is all.

I have spent a lot of time on FMS and i can do everything on FMS that an intermediate pilot could do with an actual plane.

So need some help just to get on track. I'd be grateful to anybody who helps.

EC ground is a Big NO-No for Nitro. Do you have previous experience of flying (landing) Nitro, Plane ? Do you know how to tune the  engine etc? If the ans is NO, I would highly suggest you to join experienced Nitro flyers at BAA's Yelehanka field or contact Mr Eshwar of ENR Model / Mr Deepak who runs his own workshops. People at the field would be happy to help you.
You may even contact 'Jatayu' on this forum. His friend has his own field in Annekal and you may fly with them if they agree.

Amar/BrokenProp, I am PMing you the mail id of Chetan who maintians BAA's yahoo groups . You may mail him for membership details and direction.

North Bangalore had three fields . Jakkur , which is now closed down completely. IISc campus, which has controlled access and you need to contact Mr Eshwar of ENR Models. BAA Peacock Field is now officially deprecated, but you may contact Mr Indradev as he might still be running it in his personal capacity.

Me and Philip were at the Doddabommasandra Lake Today, The Lake bed is dried and has a good amount of grass, has a large area as well.
Locals told that this lake bed is always deserted except Sunday's.

I was with the Sky surfer and Philip with the Bixler.

This looks like a wonderful place to fly in North Bangalore.  :hatsoff:
Atleast i don't have to travel 35 Km to reach Hoskote.

Any Flyers from North Bangalore interested ???

Hello,

I live in south Bangalore (BSK). I am a beginner and have just built my skysurfer. I have read here that Hoskote is the recommended area and I am planning to go to Hoskote on this Saturday (22nd). Are people around there on Saturday? Or just Sunday?

Also, I read in an earlier posting that some members try flying at Madhavan park, Are you still doing it there? I can try joining you there?

I am just a beginner and I am sure I have to cross many hurdles, so, any information/help is welcome.

Dadya

Hi, im planning to fly my ar drone 2 this coming sunday. Just received 2 new 2500mah batteries today and wanna give em a try.  any recommended locations in bangalore? preferably near old airport road as i reside in that area?
Also any ar drone flyers here in bangalore? having a hard time finding em on google.

Thanks

Old airport road? Watchout, you don't want to get your bird anywhere near the NAL or ISRO compounds, they might shoot it down. :giggle:

Hahaha. It would be a shame to shoot down such an amazing device!!  Any ideas where i could fly it near by ( without getting it shot at)  :).  i dont wanna travel too far.

Not sure, There's some open space close to where I stay, around the NGEF factory in Old Byappanahalli. It's not a huge place, but I find it good enough for my multirotors.

Title: Locations and Schedules for RC Flying in Bangalore
Post by: tahmadblr on December 08, 2013, 09:37:54 PM
Hello All Flyers,

I am new to the hobby. Have been a visitor of this forum for sometime and I got a lot of information (much of the information you could not process - until you decide to jump in).
Have purchased a foamy model as a startup. Wanted to know if the people fly anywhere near HAL or HOSKOTE LAKE BED, apart from Sunday.
I visited HOSKOTE yesterday 11 AM approx, it was deserted.   :headscratch: Guess, it is being in the right place at a wrong time.

Thought if I post here, would it help?Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks
Tauqeer

On sundays, most fliers will be there in hoskote, rest of the week is variable always because usually people go and fly whenever they feel like. but if u need help in getting airborne or meeting people, sunday is best. :)

Hi RC lovers

I am new to RC flying and visited Hoskote Lakebed this morning.. but looks like I landed at some other corner of the lake bed where there were only sheep, cows and some village kids to keep me company :P

Also, I run an educational institute and have a bunch of 9-12 year old kids who are very fascinated with flying. I was wondering if any of the pro's out there would be willing to demonstrate your RC plane and flying to 12-15 kids while you are there. I can get them to Hoskote any time next week Monday through Saturday. Please PM me asap.

Regards

Bhavesh,

You said you stay at Whitefield. It is nearest to you.

Hoskote Hobby Airfield is a straight path from Whitefield Hope Farm Circle. I travel from HAL via Whitefiled till Hoskote at weekends.

I find people from Mysore Road travelling all the way long.

Nope, Indranagar does not have a field, the Field is at Hoskote. quite a distance from Indranagar. i go there to chill and read books at the bookshops there around, If you have planes with you, i would love to come over and check them out though.

Indiranagar is densely populated, the last thing you want to do is fly around there, even if you could. I wouldn't! :P

Where do you guys stay around there? I'm like 2km away from Indiranagar.

Hi Arvind, I am in Koramangla Block I
there is a huge open field , while is being 'plotted' by developers but we can still fly small Electric planes and Quads with little precaution. It is much better place than IISC field, if you fly low and quiet.

Didn't mean it is closed. The once open area will now be surrounded with fenced fields. Fenced by the land owners.
Will try to get there and post few pictures of how it looks like now.

Could somebody post alternate location for flying being used (closer to Hosur Road)

Like when we search for : Hobby+Aeromodelers+Airfield  we get the location below :

https://www.google.co.in/maps/place/Hobby+Aeromodelers+Airfield/@13.08082,77.760278,17z/data= (https://www.google.co.in/maps/place/Hobby+Aeromodelers+Airfield/@13.08082,77.760278,17z/data=)!3m1!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x3bae054446086a6b:0xc4685899bb6c0e22

Hello, any active guys here from Bangalore? I have seen the Mega list of RC fields but none of them seems active in rcindia. I just got fine training using sim and planning to buy an RC Plane. I hope to see any active flyers here who can help me out.

Thanks.

Hi I have Just moved to Bangalore.

Unable to find a suitable place in yelahanka or near yelahanka for flying.

Unfortunately i have to fly a QAV 280 quad in the society premises, the only problem is with the little kids, they all gather and its hard to concentrate.

Another Issue with Yelahanka is it lies below the Practice area of Yelahanka Airforce.

Hence, Unable to figure out where to fly safely without getting in any trouble.

Hi Ujjwana

I saw a lot of your posts in the forum and then thought if you can help me with my query. I am interested in learning RC flying, can you please tell me if you are interested in teaching that or suggest me someone else who is interested? Thanks in advance.

Hey folks, I've recently completed build of two quads, a 450 and a 210 both capable of waypoint missions autonomously. I was wondering what a safe place would be to test features starting with simple altitude hold and GPS return to home. I'm not comfortable doing this within the city. Any suggested places? I'm in Indiranagar (east Bangalore) and only aware of Hoskote which is still 1hr away

There's a dead end type road on nice road, where no vehicles go. And there's no poles, trees etc over there, so the road can be used as runway and the whole place can be used as a flying field. I'll try to send a picture of the location. I haven't been to this place yet, but I've heard from someone that they test SAE Regular class and Advanced class size planes there. So it must be a pretty big open space

Hi Topalle, thanks for the info. If you could share the co-ordinates along with photo, that would be helpful. Where do you fly btw and which area do yo live?
