Title: Grassland in kharghar (navi mumbai) great place to fly
Post by: Pikle6 on July 23, 2009, 07:40:22 PM
hey guys i have found out a great open area in kharghar to fly surrounded on one side by pandava kada hills. it is complete with grass and belly landings are a delight also there is a road on the side on which no cars come as cental park is being built opposite to this place and a lot of open place there. for planes with landing gears this road is as good as a real runway and about 700-800m long . am going to post a video soon which i took it today though it is flooded in some areas as monsoon seasons it looks good

You should really start using the magic of Google Maps to help others with directions ;D

Here is a sample of guiding someone to the main RC field in Qatar  (the long GoogleMaps URL has been shortened using f4k3url.com) :

It's old post, but thought to reply, as this place is still open to public and a real huge free space to fly away from crowded places in mumbai.

@anwar: you are close to to map it.

The correct URL is: http://f4k3url.com/pandavkada and it's hardly 25 minutes drive from Vashi.

This place is 200 mtrs. form my house now this place is reserved for the Golf Course, but has the public access to it. Other than this, there are 3 more big grounds spread in acers where anyone can come and fly.

Seems very prospective. Any sort of runway?

Don't we need some kind of permissions to fly there? I am not sure of this, I guess the experts in the forum can comment.

Also, the stretch of 800 mts of road as mentioned above is very good as runway but please be aware that it was a hot spot for street racing and hence was always under the scanner.

There were frequent visits by police, although I do not know if the situation has changed. Please check if it is still the same.

It is always safe to stay on the good side of law.

PS: I was a resident in that place until 2010, right opposite the golf course on the other side of the road.

HI there...

Here is my FPV video at Kharghar. It is surely a good place to fly, but some construction has started (i believe for Metro) in the same field... it was rainy season then. Mr. Anand (anandrenuka) is the best person to get in touch with for more details on the field.. :)

Sure looks pretty

The water could be a bit of a hassle, but then I guess it's only for a couple of months in the year

there are total 2 fields other then the golf area part (there are 2 more fields which can be used but never got time to see in detail). This field is still vacant as the metro work is going on the opposite field on the otehr side of road. but that field is still so big that the opposite part can be used as field if required.

if the property markets remain low then they can be available for too long years :D

In bhondsi (Gurgaon) our club took a small collection, and hired a 'dozr to flatten & clear a cool runway
