Sideways forever

Hi,
After a lot of thought, considerations, research, i have decided to get into RC drifting, mainly because it requires least space, and requires good skills to achieve precision and perfection, and its stylish and looks awesome.

Inspired by some awesome drifting videos, i have made a plan to make a drifting track on my roof, its going to take a lot of time and resources, but eventually i want it to be as close to be a pro track as possible.

I want to start an exclusive drift club, the club will be based in New Delhi.
Our first track will be located in South Delhi. (On my roof)

The Track
1. Asphalt looking relatively plane and smooth track,(not too slippery), with those racing lines and maybe small chicanes, and artificial green turf to fill.

2. Track will be meant for two 1/10 cars running together at a time, with lots of curves, hairpins and also a good long straight stretch, or a few medium straight stretches, depending on which plan i finalize.

3. The track will be day/night, meaning your drift cars with LEDs will look cooler, and i will also add some illumination on track. White 1-watt LEDs will look awesome.

4. A mini parking area, for parking those RC cars of drivers ready/waiting to race next. It does sound somewhat stupid, but it will look so cool. Smiley

5. Still camera spots for video recording, hopefully someone could volunteer as a cameraman following racing cars. Also i am going to put together some car mountable wireless cams.

6. Obviously, music - this one goes without saying.

5. Driver's seating area - i am not too sure about this one, it might take some possible track space, which i am sure no one would mind standing for a longer track.

6. Already have a refreshments room ready, i can keep a small refrigerator, with energy drinks, cold drinks and snacks etc. I wish we could keep beer, but there are a lot of reasons why its not a good idea. Also have a toilet on roof so you dont have to go downstairs, not too far from action.

7. There will be some more room with shelf, for maintenance, repairs tasks, charging batteries, cellphones etc.

Type of events and activities
1. We will obviously be getting together for casual racing, practicing as per club members convenience and my schedule. No entry fees or anything, if you can bring some refreshments for the club, its cool, but its absolutely not required.

2. Prized events - they will require some fees, how much? depends upon the number of drivers participating, how much they can contribute, all the fees goes into prizes, i will be gaining nothing but the fun of racing with fellow rc enthusiasts. There will be timed races(if we can manage to get reasonable transponders), and style races, where we will post footage on rcindia forums, and people will be able to vote for the winner, but individual events will be announced with details on the forums, that's for later though.

Other Misc stuff
1. We will name our club officially, register a domain, get a logo designed, have a website with videos, pictures, list of members with their profiles, contact details, how to join etc etc. There will be no forums, i am hoping when we get to that point, we can have a little section in rcindia.org forums.

Our vision
1. The main motto is having fun, that is above everything else, that is implicit.

2. Spreading the hobby, inspire and help others get into this hobby, who knows how popular we may get, maybe we can encourage more hobbyshops, and increase demand for RC equipment in india.

3.We will not be primarily about speed, it will be secondary, we are all about style and precision, so in events we will also be giving points for how well you pimp your ride, with custom paint jobs, decals and lighting.

Requirements to be a part of club
1. One should be friendly and willing to help people, respect others and should not be selfish or obnoxious.
2. One should be member of rcindia.org.
3. Should own a rc drift car, however people who might be interested in getting into this hobby can be guests and observe the events, but there name will not be officially in listed in the club. It doesnt require any drifting skills, if you go and purchase an rc touring car, and have no idea what to do next, you may join and the club will help you get started.

This is my initial plan, let's see where we go from here, how far we can go.

What do you think? I would love to hear suggestions? Anyone interested in joining? Let me know!

I have pretty much everything planned out, but any one willing to contribute in any way is more than welcome! Anything you can help with.

The only thing which i haven't figured out yet is video editing. If someone can help with video editing, it will be appreciated and I will be grateful. Or any other help for that matter, the more hands the merrier, i can take care of almost everything else, but with my limited time, there's is only so much i can do.

Basically the more people willing to volunteer, faster we can get things going.

That's an awesome plan! I always wanted to get into drifting. Just that I'd get bored drifting by myself Smiley

This is an awesome initiative. If I'm ever in Delhi, I'll come down to the track Smiley

Thank you, I have some more good news, i went to Adventure wheels in gurgaon to get myself a new RC kit
i bought this one
http://hobbyproducts.adventurewheels.co.in/productdetails.aspx?id=1711&colid=0&catid=575

I also ordered this radio
http://www.spektrumrc.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdId=SPM2121 it costs around 12k but i think its worth it, it will take around 25 days to arrive.

Now the real work begins, i am going to put some real work into painting and designing body shell, i am gonna make it "monalisa" of drift world! LOL cliche! But i am going to put a lot of work into the body, its one of the most important part of car as it is going to represent me.

About Adventure wheels, its in gurgaon, and i highly recommend it, the person helped me beyond what he was supposed to, i could tell he shared the passion and he's not just doing his job. I talked to him for more than an hour, or maybe two, he gave me a lot of useful tips, and he was not just trying to sell his stuff to me. He gave me sincere advice.

Actually i was so amused to see their collection that i couldnt resist myself from buying a ducati 916 , modeling, detailing kit for my work desk, paints brushes and whatnot.
He also told me that they are building a track there in 15 days or so, lets see how it turns out.

I'll probably post some pictures of different stages of modeling, and painting my body shell for tamiya tt-01D kit.

I also checked the prices, they are competitive with international rates, they have tie up with Tamiya.

The only negative point is that they dont have RC planes or Helis, or else it would have been awesome.

Mugen Seiki Rules

Great timing. I was planning an onroad/rally car conversion for street, light offroad and drift use. Work is on. Look forward to this. Tamiya makes nice drifters, but 1/10. Lets drift....

i had setup a temporary test track, it was nice..
But the sad truth is not many people in india.. and even fewer in delhi/ncr are into onroad or drifting.
I didnt get any support or encouragement to do it.. it seemed like i am the only one excited about it..lol

If this doesnt excite and attract people towards rc drifting then i dont know what will.

But yeah i have given up on this.

dude i heard u r in town(thats just a phrase  Tongue ) btw,i heard that ur track didn't work out well cuz no body in the NCR has got on roaders,so well i do have an on-road car(sprint 2 sport with tape tires) and i know a very good place to drive them,i have driven there once and all i got on my car was a little (very little) dust, plus there's a canteen just 10 m away from where we are going to drift, the surface is quota stone(polished) and i would invite u to come there, just contact me if u are interested on- 43215792,we will talk out when to meet ,just wanted to tell that do bring some pipe(soft)for making boundaries or anything u think that will work  Thumbs Up,and if u know any other person who can come do invite him too, remember i will not be paying for ur canteen charges!but i think 100 rs would be more than enough for one time,so thats my plan and call me ASAP.

Please avoid SMS lingo. Take the effort to use complete words. That makes the post more readable and more pleasant to read.
