great initiative.. we are more than welcome to host these meets if you guys are interested. We can ask our walk-in customers to join this group (if it helps the group and also the customer)

Thanks you Sujju sir. so people are giving this some serious thoughts, good to know that. this is anyway a good initiative. From the past few years I've been a regular customer to rcbazaar.com and most of the time i visit the store i can see new comers to this hobby with few or no idea. This could help these people get a solid start which many people like me couldn't get. This could also mean that we could interact , share our ideas and help each other. We could met up and a talk about thesematters.

hey i am in jalahalli west.yes this group will definitely help newbies.i am also a regular customer of rcb.we should also try to find out ways of making rc models at home from cheaply available materials as the cost factor is one of the limiting factors for most people i interacted with.if any one has done anything in this field please let me also know.

There is already a group for bangalore fliers. Check in fb, bangalore Rc fliers, anyone can join. A lot of people are there. People meet in hoskote every weekend.

@pravesh736... I dont think "anyone can join" asi tried to join the group couple of time there but no response till date. This is not an open group.

@rcb, It's not an open group, u can join and admins have to verify. that group is for bangalore LOS fliers. Maybe a msg to admin would help. I'm sorry it did not work for u.
personally, im an fpver, we have our own little groups. Not very interested in LOS topics.
I suggested the group as its something that is already there after seeing fliers struggling to meet people and make new groups.

i too am not in favour of creating a new group but if the existing one is not responsive to accept new members like us then might as well think of alternatives to proliferate this hobby across the board

 

Any flying sites in south Bengaluru?? Lots of places are there near Malla sandra, but too manuy trees and inaccessible areas near Nice road.

Indeed Sujju the FB group is not an "open" group. I created the group a while back to discuss between existing and flying member. We used to approve a new member once we meet them in person. Few things are in Grey-area so we decided to be a bit pragmatic.

There is going to be a major Aeromodelling show at Hasiru Valley Aviation Anekal off Jigani Industrial estate on the 16th Nov Sunday. Lots of Large scale models and Jets on Demo. Check on google maps for destination. Further Info will be available there on the Field.

I think it is a good idea. A couple of things:

1. An open FB group is good as it has ability to create events, RSVP.
2. One problem that I see with open FB groups is if you make it open people spam a lot. So, it requires vigil administrators.
3. It would be good idea to involve LHSs. It is beneficial to both sides.
4. Regularity of events: Too frequent meetups lose the steam. Too rare meetups do not develop good interaction/bonding among members. So, someone need to find a place and organize a meetup monthly or fortnightly. (http://jaaga.in ?)

That's my 2%.

I would prefer any name other than RCBangalore as its acronym RCB can be confused with RCBazaar or Royal Challenger Bangalore.

It would be a better idea to have one Bangalore Forum  in RC India and there is a wealth of info, expertise and Ideas RIGHT HERE !!! Maybe we need to ask / request Anwar Bhai on this.... Also its a pain to login to 2 different sites !!!

As far as I understand, RC India will still be primary source of chatter and discussion. FB Group is primarily to setup meetups and RSPV. It may be used send Bangalore specific information but that can be done here too.

I too would be interested in joining. My first set of RC parts are on the way!

@subhashjk0508  I think FB can be better way to manage this. If you guys are okay with it, I can open a group for the sole purpose of meetup scheduling. Everything else stays on RCI.

Will it not be ok to meet at a location where flyers normally come like Hoskote flying field on weekends?

@ashok - sir, we just want to have a quick meetup, and anyways hoskote is real far for many people and to much traffic too.

It would be better for u all to meet in hoskote. There are experienced fliers whose help u may have. And also the group would need a place to fly later, so one can recognise hoskote airfield too. Get acquainted. Watch planes fly.
There's less/no traffic on Sunday. It's far for everyone but that's where u can fly in a group.
Hoskote has fliers every Sunday morning till noon.   
Buts it's all upto u guys.

I agree. It will definitely be a more enjoyable meetup if we can all fly. The only difficulty is transportation. Can somebody please post directions.

Search for "Hoskote RC Model Flying Field" on Google maps for directions.

I agree it is far off and difficult to reach. However, one can tag along with people who go there weekly.

Thanks. I found it. 1 and a half hours away! I found something funny while searching, see the attached pic. If anybody is travelling from the vicinity of Bannerghatta regularly, please PM me. I might want to tag along sometime in the next few weeks  .

  

Hoskote is obviously where we will go flying!! this meet is more about what this group is about and how are we gonna make sure it does not go down with in a few weeks. im very fine with hoskote and its actually been home to many of my birds, iam going there for the past few years!! i wanted the first meet to be more of involved on how we go on with the group than flying and later for sure we're gonna be there often. so wats it gonna be??

Hey @subhashjk0508, I was in Lalbagh garden from 10:50 to 11:30 searching for you guys. I couldn't find you. I entered from the West Gate, waited there for sometime, and then roamed around the whole garden looking for people with planes finally coming back to West Gate waited some more and left.

Where were you guys?!

That's sad, But I thought you guys where not meeting for flying, so obviously you can't find some guys with planes !!
You could have exchanged phone numbers before meetup .
