Practice, and only Practice will make you perfect

Now that a lot of people are flying AFPD. I am starting this thread to upload your videos, you can use it to show your acquired skills upto that point or for taking some opinion on a particular mistake that you are making, for instance say, Hover with the aeroplane facing away from you. Real life video for me has to wait till my Contour GPS arrives. Here you go, my Amateur effort. Used Fraps for capture

I was practising hover in pheonix till now. Was doing very good in pheonix(Using Zivko Edge, both has this model). When I tried in Aerofly there is lot of difference. Pheonix demands more rudder input and no torque roll was there when I hover but Aerofly demands more aileron input to keep it steady from torque roll but minimum rudder input.

Which is more realistic?

[For planes Pheonix lacks the reality of stall. Normal planes stall but in pheonix, planes are not stalling so I usually edit the models to put the CG little forward so that it appears like a stall effect at low speed]

Aerodynamically , Aero Fly Pro Delux (AFPD) is much closer to the real thing, more real than Realflight G5.5, my opinion and a lot of people in other forums have voiced similar opinion. AFPD  has the German passion for perfection

PS
In AFPD you can increase Wing Loading, change span etc

Edit
Expanded AFPD

+1
Eventhough I am a complete newbie, I feel that the controls in Aerofly are closer to the real life situation than Realflight.

good flying, rohit, you can afford to be little less jerky (it is almost like Bang Bang control input, is it to do with your controller ?), plan out your manoeuvre and call out what you do , have a sequence card it will help you, i can send you my sequence (It's about 176 sequences) first 86 are for practice and the rest are  competition sequence incl F6d sequences

Thanks Gusty bhaiya and yes most of it has to do with the controller. First of all it is old and almost worn out, due to which the the analog controls are no more smooth, its not proportional anymore. When I give in small inputs, I don't know why it over reacts, thats why they say not to use a game pad for flying in sims. Secondly, I don't get the feeling of the controls with a game pad compared to a real TX. I don't have a sim cable for my RDS8000 and at this moment I can't afford one. So, will have to manage with the gamepad.

Sure, I would love to if you could provide me the sequence. And thanks so much for all your suggestions.

hmmm... i m no expert to comment on that .. good effort absolutely ... i was looking for the inputs rudder.. i can do inside rolling circles perfectly with elevator n aileron on the field.. but i want to use rudder blend it together and make it look smooth..rather than a wobbling rolling.. and timing of elevator input changes a little when u use rudder...i know its complicated to understand what im saying but its true.. Commander if u can explain that it will be of great help..
i ll try uploading a video from realflight ..  not a big fan of aerofly .. dont like the stall effect and physics

alam,
mechanics is aeroplane dependent, at 90 deg bank there is no lift, nose will fall at 90 deg bank, to counter this you could do two things

(a) while rolling pick up the nose when you are level by 5-7 deg. So when you pass 90 deg bank nose falls on or near near level attitude. Here you don't need rudder input, which side you want to turn depends on which you push/pull your stick when she is at 45 deg bank.

(b) use adequate rudder to PREVENT nose drop at 90 deg bank, more so when you are doing rolling harriers (this will depend on you fuse lift in KE, Rudder area and moment arm)

Perfect you slow rolls first, do some hundreds of stall turns , perfect ones, then do the outside turn (i.e rolling right turning left, then switch to inside rolling turns)

if you look at my rep #24 video you will see what i mean, today i flew both types on addiction and Su 30 fighter models, the former with rudder and the later without one. will post video soon.

about real flight, i find aerofly much closer to real Aerodynamics of the aircraft than real flight. though i fly both (Some of my real life models are there only in realflight)

VTOL - Vertical Take Off & Landing

good flying, rohit, you can afford to be little less jerky (it is almost like Bang Bang control input, is it to do with your controller ?), plan out your manoeuvre and call out what you do , have a sequence card it will help you, i can send you my sequence (It's about 176 sequences) first 86 are for practice and the rest are  competition sequence incl F6d sequences

gusty bhaiya i have been training on afpd for quite some time now and would love to have a sequence card like yours could you kindly send it to me

thanks

coderbanna !

For a noob, very good flying Thumbs Up, a friendly advice, don't use this aeroplane, this one is yak with gyro! use the one without the gyro and streamers, your flying will improve! Aerodynamically aerofly is closer to the real thing compared to g4.5/g5 realflight (Don't know about g6).

Keep it up

> which S/w to be used to set the controls ( T6 which came with TX does not work on any of the com ports. I am yet to try Turborix and ATeasy.

@rastsaurabh  LOL lot of queries

1) yes FS 6ch can be used as remote, i used that same only Smiley
2) yes standard USB programming cable works fine.
3) Standard cable driver, PPJoy, T6Sim (if you want i can give download links)
4) FMS is free simulator, aerofly pro can be got from any of your friend if he has the DVD.
5) if you get past all those 4 points above, "How to connect" will be at ease.

@rcpilotacro sir, this is YAK with gyro in realflight 4.5, you can clearly see the difference, its damn easy to fly just not good with aggressive maneuvers

VTOL - Vertical Take Off & Landing

hey gusty bhaiy ai just used fraps to record a 5 min video and the size is 13.3 Gb could you tell me what settings you used on fraps i believe its mainly due to my resolution of screen.

if the size is fine could you tell me how to reduce it to make it viable for upload to youtube. i dont think uplaoding 13.3 Gb will be fast  Grin

i use camtasia/imtoo to resize them, camtasia directly uploads to Youtube, it is cool and a must try

PS
camtasia screen capture sucks, fraps is better, hotkey F7 to start recording on fraps, toggles flight info on aerofly, so when you are capturing flight info is off, depending on what you want you need to do the opposite on aerofly

Moment I use fraps the aerofly slows down tremendously. Even coderbanna video is jerky with very low FPS. Whats the remedy. or just my CPU is slow.

My fraps is recording for only 30 secs. Gusty any links for full version.

@sundaram the video i recorded was not jerky, i converted it to Youtube FLV format so it became a bit jerky. files recorded are like more than 13-14 GB Smiley so you have to convert them before uploading.

Beepa Fraps 3.4.1, (3.5.5 is available. dont touch it as of now) is what i use, collect the full ver from me (Only 2.48mb). you need to get a good graphic card. i have the ATI Radeon 1050X gaming series, costed me more than the motherboard.
Fraps is the least heavy on the system while capturing video, rest are surely heavy, it is also used for benchmarking video. in fact if you see my twin yak video, even that was recorded while playing back the recorded video, and flying and recording, glitchless.!! Go ATI Radeon!!

Gusty sir,

I have Futaba T6J TX and Reflex XTR 5.03.0 sim that came with h/w cable

Is reflex sim close to real aerodynamical flying? Have u tried Reflex sim?

I need ur sequences cards, Aerofly and beepa fraps 3.4.1

Will the h/w cable that came with reflex XTR sim works with the aerofly s/w that u will be sending?

Could u be kind enough to sent and answer my queries?

Thanks.

Also eagerly waiting for ur comments on NGH 9cc engine and a flight video.

thanks again
