After completing a few sorties, i have not yet been able to stay airborne for more than a minute.
I figure if i can fly for ten continuous minutes then i will score better in my exams because of increased attention span  ;D

How long can you fly?

Close to 42 minutes on AXN Floater with a 3s/2200mAh. The wind was perfect for soaring - no more, no less.

I have never tried any "endurance" flying.  On a typical day at the field which would last around 4 hours, my personal stick time would be about 30 to 45 minutes, but it may be spread across 5 to 10 planes and helis (mostly belonging to others, most of it is trimming flights).  I spend a lot of time with others on a trainer cord, which cannot really be classified as MY stick time.

I have seen Sai and mpsaju mentioning that they typically fly 30 minute sorties on their EasyStars.

Oh!! Easy* is bit better than that on 2.2Ah

I wish to break the one minute barrier soon, but its too windy here.

On my 550-600gm scratch built pusher with a little bit of throttle management I get about 15min on a 3S1P 1000mAH lipo.

On my plan built cessna, I used to get 40min of flight. Not only me but also others in the field ( Especially Akshay) got bored. After an autopsy for all the electronics its now hanging on the wall in my room:D

40min flight on a cessna? what do you do?
I think i would get satisfied in a couple of rolls , loops and a few circuits.

I fly regularly on weekends for 3~4 hours. Longest duration flight was on my easystar, about an hour in kite mode :) at our field (pancard club) you get constant rising head wind over the baner hill from 4 to 7 pm. Absolutely any one and every one with intermediate level flying skill can fly for 2~3 hours without landing if they want. its literally like flying a kite. Plus you come down with the battery almost full  :thumbsup:

me usually 2 to 3 hrs on my bit costliest RC model (UAV)! ;D
on easy star 45-50 mins with 3s 2200maH lipo on nitro i used to get 30 mins on my Faster 20 model and on AT-40L low winger 20mins!

Well, I guess this all depends on a) gliding capabilities of the model b) height and availability of thermals and c) throttle management.

Thats was very informative but it was just a general question of pilot's skill and not the model's capability.
How long do you fly?

I think any pilot with more than 20 hours flying experience can fly as long as the model's capability and flying conditions permits.

I really don't think  a pilot's skill - unless one's a beginner - is relevant. If you can stay up for 5 minutes you can for 500, fuel, battery, fatigue permitting.

What do you do in a sortie? do you plan something or just fly in circuits?

In case you are referring to the question "Anything else?" then it was directed at more knowledgable folks who know more about flying and aerodynamics than myself

I am getting the feeling that this thread is drifting away from what i originally intended but lets see where it goes.
I just wanted it to be light and not be confrontational.
