Ali Express is very similar to e bay, except it's China. There are some very good deals on tools & hardware, and RC models & accessories. It's huge!

Its an awesome online store. Just a word of caution, when its free shipping they mostly do china post air mail not registered you have to mention to do registered air mail. And one more thing, with CN air mail many people have lost their package (i have lost twice) so please discuss with ur seller about lost package while shippin before placing your order..

Hope it helps

Sphere - That price is for 5 units, per unit is $ 3.64. or Rs. 195 against your Rs. 730. Forget comparisons, read carefully first. ;D :giggle:

Thanks Satya Gupta for these very valuable inputs. A buyer does have a certain degree of protection though: (quote from website)

"We Don't Pay The Seller
Until you confirm the satisfactory
condition of your item
Your money is safe from scammers because we only release your funds to the seller AFTER you confirm you are satisfied with your purchase"

"Full Money Back Guarantee
If your delivery is late
We will give you a FULL REFUND if your order does not arrive within the stated delivery time (60 days maximum)"

So, there is some degree of protection :)

though the servo price looks lucrative... please go through these...

http://www.rcmodelreviews.com/fakefutabaservos.shtml

there even was a deal here..
http://www.homeshop18.com/6-pack-futaba-s3004-ball-bearing-servos-bonus-extensions-imported/kids-baby/baby/product:15726295/cid:4239/

in order to save some bucks on these servos u are putting your 10K worth plane, engine, and the life of others on the field at risk... in case of a project, robot etc.. they may be fine,..!

@sanjay - the S3003 on ali express are fake

Please look at the screw holes, they are not correct. The screw hole should be enclosed by plastic on all sides, and not open on one side like is visible in the picture

Post by: sanjayrai55 on January 22, 2013, 10:57:37 AM
Aero & Yashoda, you are correct. These Servos are fake! I checked the Futaba website, and the servo's screw hole is indeed encompassed by plastic all round.

However, I am quite happy buying tools & hardware from there, as well as "made in China" products.......can't get a duplicate of a duplicate!

:giggle:

Sorry Guys we did not read it correctly. However, we were quoting for Futaba servos and not for FAKE Futaba servos.
Assuring you all one more time, we only sale quality and genuine stuff..

And yes.... for fake servos it is tooooooo expensive as it would cost model engine, radio and efforts.

This MUST not be Futaba as Futaba dealers cannot sale the products below suggested minimum retail price.

Good luck..

Anybody with sense would stay away from www.alibaba.com. They offer even to ship Norcotics to anybody across the globe. ???

Yes that is there but rem one thing many sellers ask for other payment methods like paypal, western union or bank transfer.

Because they dont trust escrow and yes if you dont want to use alternative methods then dont buy them. Aliexpress strong recommends payment via escrow.

Many sellers are very genuine and good guys. Actually aliexpress take a very high percentage from the listing price which is why they ask for alternate payment methods.

I don't know about that. I am interested in Tools/hardware/RC items. I'll leave the narcs to the experts, Rao. I will not stay away from Alibaba, and I think I am sensible. If you think otherwise, you know where you can stuff your very offensive opinion and comment

A typical example where it is useful to but from Aliexpress::

Diamond Needle file Set

From HK: $ 5.99 + shipping  http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__8512__File_set_10pcs_set_.html

From Ali: $ 3.82 incl. free shipping  http://www.aliexpress.com/item/10x-Needle-Files-Set-Jewelers-Diamond-Wood-Carving-Craft-Tool-Metal-Glass-Stone-010262/658348617.html

Multiply this multiple times and then the benefit accrues

The title of this thread is kind of funny. When you travel in China, the Chinese convey theft (like to be careful about pickpockets etc) to people who don't speak Mandarin using the word "Alibaba" :giggle:

Cool trivia chief, but a major part of the world feels Indians are cheaters. We all know that is not the case and sometimes that is the case.

They probably chose the wrong name for themselves esp when half of the world grew up knowing the real 'Alibaba' related to chors (even if he was the protagonist, the chors take up grandeur of the story).. :giggle:

I had a good experience this time, don't know about the next one, but I think I will buy again.

@sanjayrai - another chalees times to come I suppose  :giggle:

I did ask our Chinese contacts about the use of this word, and they said it comes from the famous story itself.

Wonder what the store owners were thinking when they named the store ;)

Probably Alibaba's girlfriend was named Hiba(Gift) and the chinese thought Ebay was American's way of saying Hiba ;). The name transpired while cloning ;)

Only problem they have reached my house in Gurgaon, and I'm still in Mumbai for another month  :banghead: :banghead: ???
