Title: Any good aeromodelling shops in Manila?
Post by: flyingboxcar on August 26, 2010, 08:16:03 AM
Does any one know of any good hobby shop in Manila. I went to one yesterday and though they do stock some ARF's most of thier stock was either static (plastic kit) models or car related. They did have a good stock of Heli spares though

Maybe if there is one around who deal in airplanes primarily it would be worth visiting

Captain... Please call Joe Marudo at the Pro Hobbies.  He is a close friend of mine, and runs a heli only store.  He will guide you with anything RC related in the Philippines. His contact information is : http://thepro.ph/contact.html

Please do mention my reference "Anwar from Qatar" ;)

Divay
I visited the green hill shopping centre yesterday but could not find anything of interest. There are some shops on 2F selling mostly die cast and plastic static models, on the same floor there is a toy shop which had some coaxial helis etc nothing more. Third floor did not have any toy/hobby shop

Anwar,
Will try speaking to Joe

Thanks

Anwar,
Thanks, did speak to Joe and he told me there was shop dealing with fixed wing things next to his shop. He explained the location as well
Went and met Joe, had a chat, he deals with heli's and car, the guy next door stocks all fixed wing electrics.
I picked up an FMS P 47 from there, wanted to pick up a Hunter as well but was not sure about the volume of luggage hence left it back

Joe requested me to say hello to you

Great    I had my suspicions that you would be able to find something nearby, since his store is in a mall that is "hobby focused" :)

Joe was my initial mentor in RC !  And he learnt the old school way (pattern flying) in Japan, before concentrating on helis.

Yes he told me that, and the mall is Hobbies of Asia mall, near the Mall of Asia.
I have one picture of Joe along with few local fliers (who were at the shop) actually gave my phone to the shop assistant to click a picture and he clicked a video. Now I need to figure how to download video from my new phone

I was able to meet Joe again at his shop in Manila, and visit his house near the Taal lake (which has the world's smallest active volcano also, very beautiful place!).  He is now dealing with Outrage brand of helis etc, and a fuel brand named Rapicon from Korea).  If anyone is interested in these, please get in touch with him... he will be able to give you good prices compared to other sources.

Some pictures of his shop and his flying field which is only 200meters from his shop :o

I also saw an interesting Trex 450 based FPV setup there, by one of the fliers at the Pro Hobbies field.

I forgot to take pictures of the receiver unit for FPV :(

Looks like, I forgot to post some pictures of the Big Foamy warbird which was picked up while in Manila a few months back.
So here it goes. Check out the thread for some pictures.
