I have ordered some stuff from lowpricerc.com. Will let you know once they arrive. Prices of most items seem cheaper than at Hobby King. Shipping is also faster. The best part is that someone responds to your mail immediately. It would be a great idea if you could check the stock status with them before you order. They did not have Y connectors in stock after I placed the order but they offered a replacement priced higher at the same price or a refund or store credit right away.

Sai Sir, why are you grinning !! you already had some bad experience with them ?

The bad part of LowerPriceRC is that they dont have any review of their product, and hardly any on popular RC groups. Though few of their items like BL motors look exactly like HC, you cannot be sure. Apart from few items $3-4 less than HC, I dont see much of a price difference

Not at all I buy from their  suppliers  so really  never bought from them .
I was laughing  at the fact    50 % of the topics now  a days has shifted from actual aero modeling to knowing who bought what  from HK and their experiences with the entire process .
Now  with LPRC and RCTIMER  wonder where the forum topics are headed    :) 8-).

My opinion we need to move away from this  and develop technical content  to make this is  serious forum .There is nothing new  being spoken that has already not been covered
This is not my opinion only many  of my friends and customers  have told me so in conversation.

ANWAR JUST FEED BACK  NOT ANY FORM OF CRITICISM.

Guys  don't forget HK was at the same point  a  couple  a years back as compared to Tower Hobbies , Hobby lobby etc   so  as a business man I will not  write them off as no competition to HK.
Tower was the leader a few years back, today it is HK  , tomorrow could be LPRC or RCTIMER who knows  .
So if I were  a  a HK fan I would  not take these leads lightly .

i really would not want to offend anyone with this

the forum was created so everybody could share their experiences with others so that it might help others too

as i see hk is undoubtedly a great place for a beginner to consider while investing money in this hobby also the quality and price of hk i would say are nearly unbeatable

and this for the experienced one's becomes a way to expand their reach when they are short on budget

and yes i myself have experienced the customs here have loosened the rope making even airplanes in reach for everybody

i also believe that discussing these issues is a part of AERO-MODELLING

if i know correctly enough content is posted everyday on people scratch building like

anwar bhaiya's latest quadrotor build
gaurav bhaiya's airbus and md80 build
and ashta uncle regular dose of innovation
aerial photography
vc bhaiya's excellent boat (naughty cal) build
a lot of new things from which i get to learn everyday

and in between people selling their stuff as they want to invest in larger things and buy some lipo's

and a healthy dose of helping people with their problems like lately i needed help and i hence trusted only rcindia and got an answer for my burnt esc

i absolutely offend the fact that topics about hk should be considered as something hindering he forums quality as people just get to test new dirt cheap excellent quality products (turnigy lipos are one of them) and help others know that they can get them fast and at affordable prices

and to the people who think so that there is nothing new being covered i would like to apologize and say that we would love to work towards in achieving that goal as who would not love to have that rcindia develops more technical content

i know that everybody has their own view and this was just my view

Look out Mr Sai, there are other technical talks , model showcases, R/c club talks happening on the forum. It all depends what topic rings in you.

With India cities having hardly any 'Brick and Mortar' Hobby shop (leave alone R/C) or any formal clubs, "What, where, How"  on the equipment and clubs are deemed to be most popular questions. With most of the *Real* modelers of yester year, with some exception, keep with themselves and hardly any posting, what you expect from those hardly 2-3 years in the hobby ? Talk about High Alpha, Reynolds Number and Canard design ?

I seriously see R/C seen steaming up, with at least some more good news awaited from serious veterans like Mr Ramesh.

Western forums have large majority or second and even 3rd generation modelers so questions of our taste would be more dominating there. And as a matter of fact, I have not seen criticism like yours, and people openly suggest/reveal source of the parts, unlike in the other Indian R/C forum where non LHS talks has been made almost like eternal Sin.

As your later comments, lets accept money is very important, even westerners started hating Globalization word, which was so fashionable some years back when it became costly for them. So, the rules of open market would rule even in the R/C world: Who sells cheaper and gives best service. No emotions attached. Full Stop.

And finally, KUDOS Subbu.... such a Crisp reply from kiddo like you (hope you wont get offended, considering we have senior people like Don, Mr Ramesh etc).
Were it not HK selling such an affordable Heli like HK-450, people like my friend Vinay would have taken much more time to invest in other costly Heli option. If you see the bright side, HK opened avenue for LHS selling Premium heli by giving more people an affordable start...

Haha Sai... don't fall for that !

See this comment from Gaurav (equating the forum to a "fish market" ;) ) : http://www.rcindia.org/rc-locations-and-clubs/search-for-peopleorganizations-aeromodelling-workshop-in-a-college-in-dehradun/msg8944/#msg8944

And here is my response : http://www.rcindia.org/rc-locations-and-clubs/search-for-peopleorganizations-aeromodelling-workshop-in-a-college-in-dehradun/msg8962/#msg8962

Further more....

1.  What we need today is just more people in the hobby.  It absolutely does not matter if they start by buying from Hobbycity or RCForALL... I for one, could not care less !  Let us not fall for the elitist/uptight air that some people in this hobby seem to carry, where ARFs and RTFs are frowned upon.  These folks absolutely have one thing bigger than everything else, that is their ego.  Because if they are able to see the big picture, they will realize that it is the some of the same folks who start with buying an AXN Floater today from Hobbycity, will go and build the most amazing true to scale vitage model with custom decals ! These beginners are the same folks who will come back and discuss how carbs work on glow engines. If someone cannot see this and makes fun of discussion about procuring their first kits from Hobbycity, I think it is a complete lack of judgement and foresight :(

2. From a commercial perspective, all these people who start of buying from Hobbycity, and talk a lot about ordering from outside, or even discuss the classifieds sale items here in details, they are ALL potential customers for LHSes.  I hope every LHS in our country realizes that what we primarily need is a critical mass of people who are in this hobby.  This is THE main reason I started this forum. That critical mass is also needed to both strive for and sustain the legality and even existance of the hobby (this is where the efforts of groups like AMAI come in too).

3. Finally, and I have said this before too... I am quite comfortable if all we discuss is trade on this forum.  If someone get bored with this, let them bring up informational topics, and I am sure people who long for that will jump in. There is no point in critisizing what is happening quite naturally.  If you want to see change (or a different situation), YOU drive that change (and the forum is built to fully welcome, appreciate and support such activity).  Personally, for the immediate future, I would like to see discussion on how to get a complete radio plus sim plus airplane for around Rs.3K to 4K; more than discussions about dihedrals and thrust angles.

Happy trading eveyone ;)

Anwar Bhai,
For more people to get into this hobby we need to get the costs down. Your critical mass will only be obtained that way. People with vested intrests or should I say conflict of intrests were smirking and talking technical language and veering away on this thread where the only idea was to get the costs down. Lets face its a free market. If the LHS's want to charge more they should add value. Why on earth would I pay Rs. 100.00 plus shipping for a propellor when I get it at 1/4 the price at HC? Lets not have that customs story back again. I guess everyone is bored with that line. I hope I get the message across.

Mohan Varghese

Oh no !  This is not about LHS bashing.  I guess my response is a bit misleading in that aspect :(

The question is about "technical or pure aeromodelling talk" versus "trade and product talk".  Some members feel there is a lot of one and very little of the other.  My take is that second one is natural, because it is something people come across all the time, as they are either beginning in the hobby, or they are getting their 5th model !  The first one ("technical and/or modeling discussions") are usually about issues people face with their existing models, or when people try to do something new, and those are much less common.  So the only way to have more of the second is for the same people who want to see such discussions initiate such threads.  They can ignore all the commercial stuff, and wait for the other type of gems to pop up !

You guys made my eyes glaze over with your verbose posts.

Actually - Sai does have a point - too much trade talk and the seasoned aeromodellers

get bored - which over a period of time means lesser and lesser experienced input , which

means more beginners asking the same questions over and over again.

Saikat - Sure Sai has a point.  But the point is that no one is preventing non-trade talk. It just does not seem to happen naturally, as compared to trade talk.  I would say it is around 20% to 40% now.  India needed a venue for trade talks, and that was the primary motivator for RC India.  All non-trade talk is good, and are truly gems, but they are happening as a bonus ! :)

Initially I used to prompt/initiate such threads, but now I feel we have a good number of the common scenarios covered.  Let the experienced modelers share their passion and wealth of knowledge by initiating such threads... everyone would benefit from it.

We have to understand and live with the reality that trade is always going to be 2x to 3x the non-trade happenings in this hobby.  Case in point, go to rcuniverse.com, and tell me what is the top-most item in the menu on the left ?

How can there be tech talk without trade talk first? If you want to talk about scratch build, you need to have motors, ESC, battery etc., in your hands first. And you need to find out where to buy from first before you build, so as to estimate the budget. So trade talk first and then the rest.

Totally true. not only you or me subbu, But I have never met a person till date who has so much of patience, and makes decision right.

I am not making this statement based on what anwar said above. But it is true on all the cases I have seen till date.

Except one thing that Anwar does not agree to the point that a good sim on a good comp is very close to real flying.  ;)
