I received two recently where there was no duty payable. Did not pay anything additional. AFIK the 30 or whatever is charged when duty is to be collected. There is no reason for the postal authorities to collect anything otherwise. After all, postage has been paid by the shipper for delivery to the addressee.

Your understanding is correct - Sushil. However, here the issue was the swapping of postal charges with custom duty.  Tongue

I started getting parcels to my Office address , which is a SEZ zone, thinking it other ways that the Customs officials may consider not putting and charges. So Naive!!.

But I still  get it at my office address and customs puts duties as randomly as for other people. What benefit I have getting at office is that my office reception receives my packages and its more secure than my apartment security receive it as there is no one at my apartment during day. There is another benefit. Being addressed to an Organization, the postal guys would think twice before flicking my package.

At the end, it might just not matter. YMMV

FLY HIGH...!!!
2days back i received my parcel throug swiss post.It took 16 days to reach me.This booklet came yesterday separately.There is a sticker as if un delivered return to a address which is chennai address.I'm so confused.

I've recently goods worth more than Rs.25,000/- from HK, including 5 units Tx (6 Ch), 10 BL motors, matching ESC's, props,  Brushed  ESC's and batteries etc.etc.etc. and have not seen this booklet. All I got was a sheet of freebie stickers. What is this booklet all about? Strange that I didn't get it!
