Hello Everyone,
Since the RC hobbies are new to the Indian Market,the RC stores in India are very few in number and that too with limited stocks and Brands.
It becomes very difficult to decide that where should be buy our stuff from.
I am starting this thread for every one to please share their experience of Hobby Shops with everyone on this forum and help others for the best deals.
Do comment your personal experience with any or all of these and your overall views

Do make sure to List a store that you find good but is unavailable in this list

The results will vary based on the members of the group.. There are some hobby shops ment only for cars.. So the outcome of this will not be accurate..

Dear sir,
Agreeing fully to your satement, i would like to state that atleast this will give a rough idea for buying stuff commong to both cars and planes like fuel, battery, charger, engine accesories, ESC, motors.
Also most (not all) of the stores mentioned above stock both cars and planes.At least this can prove to be a little helpful and be a nice source to share individual experiences.

1. Great place to buy Balsa , CF Rods
2. Good range of ARF (Balsa/MPX) - at competitive price
3. Nice Electronics - Motors, Batteries
4. Nice range of accessories (horns/Hinges, Glow stuff)
5. Last but not least honest and experienced advices for free from Sanjeev, who can take out hours to explain to newbies as well as old timers - this could be a single most USP according to the LHS terms!

Good to see this thread getting bumped, I urge everyone to vote. 

How about a poll for the 3 worst? Ones to stay away from.

This info can be equally important, I would think.

The problem with a "worst poll" is that it is too easy to abuse.  When you make a "worst / avoid / stay-away-from" list based on proper information about bad experiences (and the open discussion of the same), then the shops have every opportunity to clear their names.  But if it is just anonymous votes, that would cloud the efforts. 

I would rather follow the "even if 1000 guilty people go free, not even one innocent should be punished" rule on this.

VC has the monopoly on the chuck gliders, i see even anam stocking it , is it from VC ?

Nope, I feel it is best the people report individual bad experiences.  When a pattern emerges, we will note the same on the mega list.

And i guess there some thread already running about bad experiences with LHS'.

You've missed thehobbyshop.in (http://thehobbyshop.in) . (Pankaj Verma). It's a very good store based in Calicut. Good service, fast shipping. The only drawback is that it doesn't have Paypal.

All the LHS are very helpful for us and i have a small feedback for the LHS owners.

The main thing i exp while browsing different sites is that the out of stock items are been displayed with the stock products, so its like a hunt to check each product stock status. There are hundreds of products on some LHS and when you look closely then around 30-40% or may be more items are out of stock or sold out. Instead the shop owners can create a additonal category like 'out of stock" "sold out" or "coming soon" etc so that its convenient for the users to browse for the products.

Sure. But he's primarily for Delhi-NCR, and Nitro planes I think

He also has some car stuff, i once went to his place and that was probably the first time i met him.

The online shopping of rc stuff is now easier as http://www.spherehobbies.com is now open with good stock. It also has shopping cart and available stock figures.

Updates some new LHS to the poll, make sure you check them and cast your vote.

Please let me know if some new/old LHS is missing

P.S. I deleted some of the existing options from the poll since they had got no votes from quite a while.

I have started feeling that stock availability is a prime variable while rating an LHS. Considering that Aero Engineering Works (http://www.aeroworks.co.in/) is slowly becoming one of my favourite and I would like to change my vote now :thumbsup:

Even i felt so, most of the high demanded items like a 2.2A lipo's are out of stock on nearly every LHS.

why people like rcdhamaka there prices are not competitive, am i missing something

What exactly is not competitive ?  I assume you are also looking at the brands.  For example, Multiplex planes are much cheaper at RCD then ordering from outside.  Do you pay the same for a Maruti and a Honda ?  Now whether you want a Maruti or a Honda is your problem.

And RCD has always had some of the best customer service. 

Secondly, there are many shops who come with a loud bang, try to blame others for high prices, offer low prices for some time, and then disappear completely.  FlyRC was a recent example.  Some shops are longer term, and they reduces prices when they can. 

Cliche, I agree, but "don't judge a book by its cover". 

Also, people seem to think everyone does everything the exact same way.  If there is a 50 Rs difference between similar lipos at two places, they think the shop with higher rates are milking people.  There is no thought towards the fact that their circumstances may be different, they may have gone through a different set of bureaucracy (which changes by the minute and by city), their rent structure may be different etc.  Finally, when the low cost place is out of stock, the "higher" price shop is still much better than ordering from outside.  These are just realities in life.

+1 Anwar sir.. Specially the 50 rs difference, true you never know what are the circumstances. Its a sellers choice afterall to decide what profit they want to sell their product.

Just a correction, there are two TheHobbyShop options, If the poll can be edited.

www.hobbysea.com is also missing.

Again it shows only stocked items. Even you confirm order and makes zero stock, you can not get again the details of that item. it is a "+" point and "-" too.

RCD would do better if most of their items did not show up as "Sold Out" - it gets a little frustrating. However, their shipping is lightning fast and I've received exemplary, personalised Customer Service from RCD.

no best lhs in india, all of them sell whatever they want, u can buy from whoever sells what u want/need. most are out of stock 300 days a year. some sell better and more reliable stuffs than others but in india pricing is key to being the best so its kinda controversial as there are many LHS selling cheapo chinese products at cost almost on par with branded items of other LHS. :)

I am sorry for swearing but newcomers into hobbies should know about this person and in general he has done this with a lot of people this should not be taken lightly I registered a complaint at consumer court I am yet to hear from them but at least raise voice and alert people against this particular individual

I love RC dhamaka and RC bazaar because they deliver on yime I have very bad experience with RC Mumbai they have the worst delivery. Other websites also have delivery issue

RC dhamaka has good stock nice heli models and spares and they ship really fast i receive my orders within 2 days.

Dear Readers.... I started off with this RC hobby a few years back and then enjoyed it a few times after flying my Multiplex Easy Star II learner's plane. But as I moved to a different location in NCR, I do not have a place where I could fly my plane anymore. Left with no choice I have decide to sell out my plane and its remote control and get myself a RC Car which I feel can be played with less of space.
