Re: Bombayrc shut down
one has to extra careful esp when u are an online shop like BRC. they cannot shut down their web site for a stupid reason like update etc when you are paying the money in advance. i host some web sites myself so i feel the reason given is flimsy by a big e com LHS like BRC. its better to deal with some one who also has a physical existence i mean a normal shop also somewhere. i feel the BRC guys may be talking to some one to sell their business and when that happens the site may be up again.
guys keep the info posted on this so that no one gets cheated

Re: Bombayrc shut down
Wow.. a 404 error ("page does not exist") being thrown to the user is absolutely the worst way of doing a website update / upgrade. At the least, a simple "We are updating our website, please contact us at <email> or call us at <phone number>" message would have been much more appropriate
The IT folks who are helping them ought to do this themselves, even if it is not specifically requested by the customer

Absolutely no sympathy if they were to shut down and which I hear is absolutely correct. I have dealt with both the coowners.partners and both were poles apart.

Mugen Seiki Rules
Re: Bombayrc shut down
I thought I can pick up their old car stock at a closing price since I too heard that they are closing from reliable sources. Moiz wrote back saying they are not but ready to offer cars. Replied apologizing for the rumor, but no response from him after that.

While agreeing with you in general, you need to start posting more of the comparisons of local prices against what it costs to get the item from outside. I am pretty sure that getting the item in couple of days is a huge attraction, and people will be willing to pay a premium for that (added with the knowledge about the 35% duties you have to pay for importing).
Just Compare these and kindly add 35 % duty.
Lipo guard

Ebay India Price - Rs. 520
HK Price - Rs. 133 + 376% = 520
ESKy Blades
Bombayrc shut down
Ebay India Price - Rs. 800 for 4 blades ( Rs. 12000 for 60 blades) whoa!
Ebay HK Price - Rs. 400 for 60 blades + 2900% = 12000 (wow)
Prop Saver
Bombayrc shut down
Ebay India Price - Rs. 400 for one piece ( 2 for 800)
Ebay HK Price - Rs. 125 for 2 piece + 640% = 400
need i say more? These are just few examples. why this debate is still on?

Partially answered here :

It is all about volumes. That is why we said from day one that RC India will try to increase the number of hobbyists first by providing any and all possible support to beginners, even if it irritates the LHSes. I am sure that if the number of RC hobbyists increase 10 fold (or even 100 fold), that will bring price parity at LHSes (as the volume goes up).
