Anawar Bhai,
Enough of destructive criticism of LHS.... How about a separate section for polls/requesting LHS for specific items like Specific Foamies (would love to get a YardBird F-22 kit), specific Motor, Lipo etc brand. This could be closely monitored by the LHS to get customer pulse.

Members can suggest a particular items and assure they would buy. He can go and create a poll, gathering public interest in buying that item by others to help the LHS ascertain how fast the item may move. I see many many items like Balsa stipper/Planner, High quality Xacto blades, Saw blades, hinging tools etc *only available at Towers*. They mostly carry bulk discount. LHS can even buy them in bulk, add the overhead, margin and sell it. Every one would be happy at the end.

I start with my Wish list :
1. Easy Glider/ Multiplex Cularis
2. F-22 Raptor from YardBirds/other ducted version
3. Rihno/Flightmax LiPos (if competitively priced)
4. TP/Turnigy outrunners (again price... shouldn't be as costly as AXI)
4. Z-Ben tool (again reasonably priced)
5. Tx Battery holder
6. Magnetic Prop balancer

these are just a few items came to my mind

I guess barring the price factor, the variety/specific item availability problem is an unavoidable handicap choosing to go to LHS. We don't need something like HC/Towers inventory, but LHS can boil down to 1/100 - 1/500 of HC/Towers offerings and still offer value selection to the fliers.

Anawar Bhai,

A few minutes, ago, I was using the "Who's online" (http://www.rcindia.org/who) link to see who is online.  I saw "Ujjwana making a post in RC Outlet and Resellers" and I told myself, "Dear Lord, have mercy on me ! Here comes another LHS bashing thread"  Giggle  Anyways, good to see this diversion.

We had some threads like this already ("What would you like to see in your LHS").  While I commend and encourage this, I hope everyone is also aware of the realities of making many of these reality.  Customer pulse... absolutely ! Implementation... ummmmmmm, let us hope for the best.

The big reality is the demand for a single item.  Other than things like the "AXN Floater" where both the characteristics and price are right, I am not sure there are many "sure-sell" items.  But then LHSes can always use the data to make better decisions.

I have one item to add to the list (for others, and it is more of a dream now).  A full electric RTF combo with a simple radio (including sim), close to Rs.5000.  I am sure the day is not too far, especially if you have the right contacts in China !

NOTE: Ujjwal, I hope you take the joke above in the right spirit !  You have as much right or more as me to voice your opinions here. And, the topic is made sticky.

Thats a very good way of
letting the Lhs know what is
required by the customer
that poll wud be a great way to do that.

Hey common Anwar bhai, I always take things in the lighter way unless some one hurts where it matters the most (the choices in the hobby itself).

Surely there are TONs of items which would sell like hot cake - your suggestion is one of them. We can brainstorm in any length the way volume can increase - to benefit both LHS and us. But there should be takers.

And about  'Beginner Combo', I just talked with another enthusiastic but silent member of this forum. We were thinking of manufacturing few very reliable beginner planes Kits at amazingly low cost locally (he is in manufacturing/fabrication business). What great job Sai has done by introducing Moss, could Re'ved/ taken forward. We don't need to get many things from China and add overheads. He even had another great idea which he might message you soon.

Lets see if LHS are interested in  this.

Wished the LHS stock some
gud cheap 2s/3s lipos of low capacity  for small planes.
N some charger/balancer
for these like the $ 6 HC's.
It cud really cut down cost

hi,

The LHS either dont stock the complete range or the prices are too hot.

Take for example the GWS Slow Stick, the most charming backyard flyer,

I am listing the price at which it is available  ( without shipping)
1. US - $ 16 ~ 22 for (kit) , $26 ~ 34 including  motor
2. Rotor Singapore - $31( Incl motor) , available
3. Rotor India        - $31(incl Motor) : Always no stock
4. Mr Sai              - $64(kit), Highly appreciated source, incl shipping
5. Ebay                - $50(kit), Incl Shipping
6. RC india forum    - $64 (kit), incl shipping

So if i presume the GWS is manufactured in Taiwan and shipped to us , the retails price should be same ( Excluding shipping)

As i am kind of price sensitive hence , each dollar counts. The LHS should somehow match the US price and it could also include a advance booking amount from buyer with some wait time.

My research on price is highly comprehensive as i am still not able to decide the cheapest method to own a slow stick.

So in the list you can add a Slow stick request

You are forgetting custom duties/taxes and the "interest factor" (money held up in inventory for long periods) due to slow sales (not enough buyers) Smiley

Now,that puts some problems our LHS es face in perspective.Still, the best way is to go with Mr.Sai(as he is the closest to international prices and is quite a nice guy)or to buy from the authorized dealers for hobby equipment in India.Obviously,it works way better with cars than planes. For the fliers, its either scratch building,or getting kits into India. No idea about helis.

Just a suggestion for Mr.Sai,how about getting some companies to sell their stuff through you in India? That would make it cheaper for us.

I had a casual conversation with one of my friend who is an Importer and he suggested me to get an exhausted list of most commonly used items and the ones that most people desire. Basically I am looking for high demand items that he could import and sell in the local markets. He is not into RC stuff as of yet but he suggested that we could make this hobby more affordable if their is enough demand and he could cut margins to bare minimums to generate the profit for his business.

Someday, he and some other friends of mine back in Delhi plan to setup a manufacturing unit as well to assemble electronics using china imported electronics parts. The idea is to instead of importing finished goods, they will import the unfinished material and assemble them locally to cater local market. This could turn up into a good opportunity if we have good demand.

Please post below what all items you would like to buy & import. Please post the direct link to the item if possible.

MODS: I am not quiet confident if this is a good practice on this forum, please feel free to close it if you do not find it a good one.

WOWW....this is an awesome initiative...

Well, I'd always like to buy a tx / rx from outside as its a lot cheaper. May be some indian company can start assembling the Fly Sky ones here with the 2.4 Ghz modules and tweak the menus etc for mixing per the local needs.

Another thing would be upgrade parts, like the metal upgrades, torque tube upgrades and flybar-less upgrades for helis. If they are setting up a production unit, they can get into smaller parts like screws, bolts, tail booms, rotor shafts, fuselages etc.  Thumbs Up

Wishing all the best to your friends and the over all initiative...

I have found that brushless motors are always out of stock, so you could start there. An elusive materiel seems to be "Dollar tree foam board" I think thats what they call it. Gorilla glue and UHU All Purpose Adhesive, are also hard to find.
