Post by: RumblePirate on February 21, 2014, 08:30:48 AM
Guys if the total package value is less than 10k inr, n weight less than 1kg...
Then which is cheaper option to buy spares /complete kits :  :headscratch:

1. Hobby King (import)
2. Local Venders ( India )

Depends on ur patiences, HK will take atleast 1 week to deliver and LHS can be quicker, but trade off here might be the part u looking for as well.

1 International Hobby Shop's(IHS) -
Pros: Price,Availability, feedback, reviews and community support for individual products.
Cons: longer delivery times, impost/custom issues, warranty servicing issues.

2 Local Hobby Shop's(LHS) -
Pros: Quick delivery, better product servicing, no customs/import issues.
Cons: Availability, Price, re-branded products with less documentation.

3- If you get items from ebay, amazon India then its almost similar to LHS, and if its from there international websites then experience is similar to HK.

NOTES:
-Quality issues plague all the entities equally in my opinion, you can get a damaged product from anyone, but what matters is how is it handled by sellers and time consumed and lady luck!
-Also HK is cheap when you ship via International Registered Parcel, so price factor varies as per selected shipping mode.
-Many LHS usually sell many products that are available in IHS, with a premium with warranty & servicing needs to be ascertained before purchase from LHS's.
-Custom Duty will be charged as per declared value by Private shipping services while in International Registered shipping it depends upon the mood of the valuer/officer. A 500$ ,1/2 kg small box wont attract attention while  a 2 kg 50$ big box parcel may get charged.

There are many other threads in this category which you should read for further info and peoples experiences.

Thanks guys,

that's what I n most beginners like me would like wanted to know. So it is generally cheaper marginally over HK than Local dealers, the trade off being post sales service, marginal longer delivery time, .

I  personally wont mind buying some consumable parts like quality motors, servos, etc from HK which you guys hv mentioned will eventually go off some day (hoping not so, lol ). Hope HK opens a sales office in India soon, fingers crossed.

thanks again guys appreciate your comments
