Title: Hobby Shop Association : Attn Hobby Shop Owners
Post by: rcforall on April 01, 2009, 08:46:55 PM
Hi All Shop Owners ,
From the thread on the association it appears that most members Hobbyists feel that we should take the step of an association first .
I am starting this and before anything will like to state I dont want any position of office in this body but will be ready to work towards making this a reality .
Let get together  on line to begin with like Ganesh has said  by exchanging views on this thread this would build a base for a larger organization {:)}.

I second this.

I have a few points to make here.

While we are community as strong in number(i guess atleast 100 of us are there in India)  but its just that we dont get together that we are under immense pressure to even secure a place to fly.(Mr.Sai if u do vist sholavaram in a few months time we will be able to buy a house in the same place u used to park your cars)

I know I have tried to tell members there that we need to find a big enough  land of around 4-5 acres .
Fix up with the owner a rental and share it out among members .
This way the owners will be committed to allowing us to fly , it is private property hence no one can object .

As far as I can see the moment there is a problem like this there is bound be a tug of war where we are the rope sometimes one side wins sometimes the other but the rope is the one pulled in both cases .

People  dont understand freebie flying days in Chennai are numbered .

Hey Ganesh ,
What about an aero modeling club ( note not association ) like  Paid Golf Club , or presidency club etc  ;D

Sounds Great ,
Where are we planning to fly ?
If  we are talking of houses around Sholavaram flying there would be impossible .
What do you think of a CLUB with runway , some refreshment stalls  , may be a club house etc
Like a RC resort which is being planned in Kerala

Sir our ultimate aim is to get some land allocated for our hobby separately. Once we have done that (we are far from it but we are strong willed to attain it) we can plan a whole lot of stuff. Like i have taken inspiration from a club in california where we can store the models in a room in the club itself, having a r/c resort(for land, air and sea). We all can put in a effort to attain this. We cannot do it in a short term but if we put in all our effort i guess this should be achieved by 2015. Also this would enable us to fly on all days ratter than the difficulties we face today (i nealry lost my plane this weekend when a lorry wala parked in vehicle on the middle of the runway in admiration of my landing approach in a dead stick) :o

WOW   an exclusive R C Modellers ' Country Club with a club house with Lockers facility for members to store their models, a refreshments lounge, with some acres of land large enough to  let several flyers fly simultaneously, Tarred Runways along with short grassed runways for Sail planes and such which don't use landing gear and full time staff to maintain the club, Sir are you serious  :o or because it is 1st of April  :D

Ganesh ,
2015 views are OK but what about having a place to fly 6 months down the road . If you consider that  dont know how you guys will last till 2015 .

We  electric flyers  dont have so much of an  issue we make smaller planes or get smallers foam or Balsa ARF's and get down to a park or a school ground or a  badminton court . Like what Chan does with his nasty at Shenoy Nagar park.

But what about the glow and gas flyers ( costly planes )  ???  till 2015 .

GUYS
I GUESS THE SHOP OWNER'S ASSOCIATION IS A NON STARTER FROM THE LOOKS OF IT 2 DAYS  AND NOT A SINGLE POST IN REPLY TO THE CORE ISSUE . SO BEST IS TO LEAVE THE MATTER AS DEAD :o

well sir that was not a Fools day joke.Thats somethin we strive to do.But thats somethin we will not be able to do alone. We wanna tkae each step at a time.First we have registerd the club. The next step would be to call in office bearers.Once thats finalised we want to move with the sports ministry to first get ourslves affliated with them.Once thats done we can hope to build a club

Overall, I would suggest, for any association, a very light weight approach, which if it lasts long enough prove its worth and be easier to be recognized. And if it does not last long enough, at least it won't cause heart burn or spurn ppl out of the hobby and make hobbyists dread the notion of clubs and associations.

As was suggested earlier, this forum can be a good meeting place for all hobbyists and vendors and new comers. Once it lasts for a long enough time and we are all comfortable to co-exist it will be easier to form any association.

All that is fine Ganesh , but I think what needs to be done simultaneously as the governmental procedure is a long drawn affair is to locate a private land , rent it out and divide the monthly cost among members  to ensure flying days.
Develop a run way and again divide it among members on a No profit no loss basis for tension free flying till all ministry matters are resolved.

Frankly I am not affected by these problems as we dont have these issue in Kovalam  but my suggestion is in the larger interest of aeromodeling.
