That's because bigger players in action trying to kill business of smaller players. I am not talking about hobby RC here, something bigger business than that. if you are intelligent enough you'll know what i mean.

DHL and FedEx are no longer shipping HK products to India. Only EMS and Regd. Air Mail.

This isn't good.

Ha ha! Those "Bigger Players" now fully control things much much bigger than mere Hobby now ...

It was "People's" Own conscious choice, knowing the outcome well. Now face it for years to come....may be forever ...

Oh! Same thing happened with me, infact it was a little more rude. I purcgased batteries using some hk points, but hk don't uses hk points for shipping n wants to pay fresh. That moment my CC had some issues so that order became oh hold. Afer a week at time of payment i realised some little room available in the parcel for a few tiny stuff. HK Cs suggested me to cancel previous order n place new order to avoid messes. Here, even they were not aware of the lipo issue. And in my new order checkout didn't allowed lipo.

The HobbyKing Customer Support says:

"I understand that you cannot find shipping method available to ship some items to your country. Please be informed that our shipping options at the checkout page is system generated. Kindly note that every shipping carrier has its own limitations, if there is no shipping method on the checkout page then there is no available shipping courier available to ship this order. These limitation and restrictions are imposed by your country."

DHL said they are no longer shipping because of laws and regulation- a CS KAD said "Sir ye RC, Hobby, poora ban par hai, iss par money waste matt kariye, problem hi problem hai, drone se nahi - police ke dannde se zyada kaam hoga"

- "Sir RC hobby will be banned soon and I suggest not to waste money on this as it'll attract problems and quandary. No 'drone' is more effective than a police whack on culprit's ass"

If only lipo is banned to ship from overseas, why no official announcement or any media made any note?

Or

Do govt insist or want to encourage smuggling now in this hobby? or want to impose - forcefully "make in India"?

@rcpilotacro:
Sir,
big players wants to start manufacturing rc stuff? :headscratch:

....someone I was chatting with asked whether it was indeed true that RC was 'outlawed' in India!

This Hobby needs to be regularized - not "banned" !

.....but in the end,as often seen....life shall find its way - whether in the form of 'Make in India', or more regulated activity...

...and hope this is a looooong time away.

Hello Friends

Lets stop the rumor. Import of Lipo batteries is not banned. Certain carriers have changed their internal policies and are not carrying lipo batteries.

We regularly import lipo batteries (last import was before 7-10 days.)

So lets not encourage smuggling. Import officially.

Good luck.

Do you import batteries from HobbyKing?

Yes I agree you can import from other sellers but not from HK I believe.

India is said to be the 2nd or 3rd largest importer of RC items- it is a good business running well,so these rumours will just remain rumours, lets hope so

This seems to have nothing to do with recreational RC. It's talking about military grade UAVs. For hobby grade RC, US should be the largest importer & China the largest exporter.

I think importing LiPos from other sites also has got more difficult.

I saw this on one of the other favourite site to get stuff for my 450L.
If this is the case then guess it applies to all courier companies - LiPo shipments globally ???  :banghead:
Appreciate if anyone has more information / experiences to share.

http://blog.flying-hobby.com/uncategorized/all-lipo-batteries-can-be-shipped-by-ems-now

On a seperate note, I think I should now consider those big nitro helis as my next indulgence, since electric - large capacity LiPo will be difficult :)

nice to read if RTF is concern but last line in the post says:

- EMS CAN only deliver LiPo battery equipped inside the product (max 6S 10000mAh). We CANNOT ship raw big LiPo batteries with EMS.

Hope for resolution sooner.

Actually, just in morning, a hobbyking CS assured me that their company has started searching for a good courier company which can resolve this lipo issue.

Well brought some Lipos from www.banggood.com recently.  They came via regestered post at no extra payment.  The Lipos are of Zop Power, Lion Power and YKS brands.  Do not know how good they are but the Lion power and the YKS look good to last long.  Tomorrow will be doing the first fligths on the Power ones.  Lets see how it goes.

Well yes the batteries came to be in just 7 days.

cost....
Lion Power - 1300 mAh - $9
Zop Power - 1200 mAh - $8
YKS          - 2200 mAh - $22

all of three cells.
