To all my friends "HAPPY LANDINGS"....

Hi Guys,

I was pleasantly surprised to hear that an INDIAN COMPANY has bought the IRVINE ENGINE rights from Ripmax last month.

Ripmax acquired the same from Mr Irvine senior's son 2 years ago. Mr Irvine was a keen modeller himself in Southgate, London.

He provided a free check up service to all engines whereby only parts changed were charged for together with return postage, no labour.

(Saying that my near perfect engine that just needed tweeking a bit at the lower needle setting had both bearings and prop supporting aluminum washer replaced when it was sent for investigating why it kept stalling... so you see nothing is free in this world)

As some of you might be aware the recent (upto 4 year old red engines) red engines were all made by OS. The older red engines that have "Made in England " stamped on them are the ones made by Irvine in UK.

My congratulations to the entrepreneur....

Who is it??? Please do advise, thanks and best of luck.
Deepak

Yes, great news!
I always wanted an Irvine 20 diesel, i wonder if they would make them?
I would really like to know of any Indian manufacturer of engine, what happened to the Indian mills? and the Taplin twin diesel. Are any Indian manufacturers making diesels?  these old deisel designs are perfext for vintage models, swing large props and make very little noise!

cheers!

Diethyl Ether, which forms 30 % of the diesel fuel is very difficult to get in India.

Any substitute for this chemical, as because I would consider buying  an RC version of Sharma diesel engine.

Sirji,
For 500ml, one is 800/-, the other 380/-.
Difference in quality?

I don't know really, but the cheaper one is certified as LR (Lab Reagent) which is more ty adequate as a solvent for kerosene/castor oil
