Title: Is Hacktronics India reliable?
Post by: Swapnil on September 13, 2015, 03:58:55 PM
Hi Everyone!

I recently came across the below link.

http://hacktronics.co.in/home/17-hc-sr04-ultrasonic-distance-measuring-sensor.html

They are selling the HC - SR04 ultrasonic sensor for  :Rs: 85 !!! I'm tempted to buy a dozen of them!

Can anyone from Bangalore confirm whether this is a genuine store and whether the products are of good quality?

Thank you!

I was skeptical because all other stores sell that sensor for at least 2 to 4 times that price.

Are the products of good quality then?

Have you bought and used the HC - SR04 ultrasonic sensor or the Nordic nRF24L01+ 2.4 GHz Wireless Transceiver? The picture you posted is too small.

No. I personally haven't used the ultrasonic  module. But i am planning to buy the nrf24l01 module next month. All i have bought from them is RDA5807 FM MODULE(7 OF THEM), 16X2 LCD(3 PCS), 20X4 LCD (2PCS),MANY ATMEGA 328, one arduino uno  clone, AND OTHER SMALL ITEMS.

I'll place a small order and see how the stuff is. If the quality is good, I'll be buying tons of ATMEGA 328 ICs from them at  :Rs: 130 per piece!

Yeah thats one way to evaluate if things are as per yout standard. Let me know if those nrf24l01 modules have real ics or fake Chinese copy. Btw what are you making with those nrf24l01 modules?

It's not about 'standard'. I just care whether the stuff works or not. I read a complaint somwhere online by a guy who bought some 8051 boards from them. That's why I started this thread. I buy stuff from all major online hobby electronics stores. But Hacktronics seems to be providing stuff at the least prices.

The price of the nrf24l01 modules is so low I just wanted to get a few of them and try some range mods.

i bought stuff about 3 months ago

they have among the highest shipping for indian online stores
but maybe - that was because of my location

the seemingly low prices are negated by high shipping

they have a number listed on the website  call and see

Their stuff is okay, but thing is their price looks lower initially, when you check out they add lot of cost... poor support... or no support I had asked about library for LCD I had purchased,  support guy  was telling me that, there is  no library or driver and there is no need for it....!!! finally I did lot of iterations and found one working library. I had found sunrom dot com & electroncomponents dot com are good, Rsdelivers India is also good but they don't have stock in India(can take up to 15 days).  Robokits co in is okay too but when I had asked them for replacement under warrant they have excuses and did not provide anything.

Never ever buy anything from robo mart I had purchased some motors and one type of 3 motors were not spinning and smaller 3 motors have bent shaft which was running like vibrator motor, I sent photos to them and called they were telling bad words on phone....

Very bad service.  I have been following up with these guys regarding lost shipment.  Poor response to enquiries.  And there is no phone number to call to get things clarified.  They keep asking you to check with FedEx for lost shipment.   Absolutely irresponsible.
They finally reached out and said no refund / re placement will be provided as it is not their fault. When I checked with FedEx, they confirmed that they will be settling the claim with FedEx. Which means, havering hacktronics will be getting double benefits. So much for customer service.  We need to make sure that these guys get it of business.  The only way is to spread the feedback.
Update: when I raised the issue when them, they disabled my login to their website.  Very unprofessional.
