Hi Guys....I had been to CARAX in Baner,Pune, its located opp Sadanand resorts. They have complete range of R/C cars including nitro-powered S50, Choppers and planes on Display by Bombay R/C models! Also they have sales service and spares available. Its an awesome store, anyone in Pune should definetely check it out.

There is a hobby center in Gujurat somewhere. I think it is called Bugz Hobby mart. It seems they stock Traxxas, HPI, Kyosho and some brands I don't know.

IHC is the grand daddy of all hobby shops in India. The owners, Kumars of Kolkata are well known and if you have not met seen and spoken to Mr. Suresh Kumar who started all this in India you are missing on a big part of aeromodelling history in India. Till few years back they had branches at allmost all major Metros.
For people in Kolkata who do not know you can go even have a look at full size Auster AOP parked inside the shop, this was once flown by Mr Kumar. You should also see his pictures in DH 88, Hornet Moths.

They only stock glow and gas powered - The person I talked to "amandeep" is quite experienced - He said that they offer a free of cost 4-5 day training course (with acco) to anybody who buys from them

Sadly RC Dhamaka seems to have a tough time either with suppliers or our good friends Customs. Thier expected date of shipment arrival seems to shift all the time. from Nov 1st week, its already December end  :violent: :banghead: :'(

Anwar to answer your question... We are not too shy... but, only a handful are left... Aero Modeling in Kolkata is disappearing... Or, that is what I have felt in the last 6 months in the city... I wish, we had more resources for the RC enthusiasts in Kolkata...

- The India Hobby Center (Russell St) offers some spares and RTFs - though their high prices make most people scarred and never to return back...
- Aurura Engines & Models does not have a retail front and they DO NOT have an office/factory at the address that we found online (15 Shakesphere Sarani, Kolkata)... I emailed them, and was told to contact Indian Hobby Center people...
- Anwar Models is way to expensive... however, he too needs to earn a living...
- In Chandni Market, there is a shop called "Gemini Electronics" - they sell motors, crystals, transmitters... but only during the IIT Kharakpur competition time...
- Kadel Models - No storefront or ready inventory... they were VERY HELPFUL with advice and guidance... but are not in the RC plane business anymore... they design some UAV for the army.

If you guys meet somewhere to exchange ideas or fly your RC/free flight models in Calcutta... then.. please post locations... then we could all meet-up !

Sethji is right not only me but some of my friends also visited India Hobby Center Kolkata we were all blown away by their prices, they are our ONLY source in RC here in the North east.

Thanks for taking time to respond on detail. And please feel free to include a link (or even a write up) about RC India on your blog.  We have started listing all hobby fields in the country (http://www.rcindia.org/rc-locations-and-clubs/mega-list-of-rc-fields-locations-clubs-in-india/), but we are still waiting for proper maps from most places.  I request your assistance in listing any RC field in your vicinity.

Overall, there is more awareness and access to the hobby in recent years.  But it still is a fairly expensive affair.  Things like Hobbycity do make it somewhat affordable, but that is at the expense of local hobby stores. Looks like it will remain a hobby which is NOT for the masses for a while.

What would change the picture is class room level introductions with follow ups by dedicated trainers who are willing to help out with initial setup and training.

On the other hand, both in India and in other parts of the world, I do see 3 channels helis are one of the most common toy store items.  Some of the people who use them may move closer to RC.  But there also most people try to fly them, and when they crash, they just throw them away like most people did with remote controlled toy cars.

I agree with Anwar (ji)   :giggle:  Aero Modeling will gather momentum if introduced in the classroom... This could be part of the Physics curriculum... in Grade 8-10... and those interested will pursue the hobby beyond the school campus... (just a thought, I am not part of NCERT / ICSE board !)

It has been a expensive hobby... and thus out of reach of many... Many online store are making it affordable... However, some Indian hobby stores/enthusiasts are also trying to bring to masses... i don't remember the name of the business... but there is a Mr. Menon from Kerala... he is teaching aero-modeling to the youth and then providing them with RTF kits (for a fee of course!) ... the students then become teacher and then re-sell the RTF kits to others...

ModelArt Helis-- did some search in US based hobby shops/heli shops- The 3ch helis that gets marketed as ModelArt is from a CN/TW manufacturer who sells the same model as Phoenix in the US. 'ModelArt' is not listed as a manufacturer anywhere. One thing that i like is that they almost always keep spares for all the planes they sell. The 4Ch and above aones in stock are from some popular brands.

I found Indian Hobby center, Kolkata is toooo much expensive where the others are available at relatively lowest price for the starting model(Cheaper) and also cheaper for same model.

At mid 2004, during starting of my first Carrier, as user of RC Car & to gift, (Of course Full Function) I found Rs 140/- at Delhi Sadar bazar (Without Bargain), Rs 200/- at Mehta Building(Also without Bargain but old stock as next week, cost found Rs.160/- and I purchase) Kolkata Ground Floor Shops and at Indian Hobby Center , Rs.350/-(Appx as I cannot perfect remember but cost at first request in person) for the same 27Hz, Tx2/Rx2 based system, Car-6 Volt(4x1.5) + Remote-3Volt(2x1.5V). Later I just purchased Plastic prop from IHC for rubber powered model aeroplane.

The cheapest shop is also in mehta building or in bagri market or in beloon gali, but the area is same. I got informed that some importers sells on the upper floors, but in quantity and all are ready or almost ready.

I just stuck to one small shop in mehta building for RC Cars for gifts for budget. In that shop, the 6" indoor battery powered Heli now sells at Rs. 700/-, Same in New Market Footpath Rs.1500/-.

As, I have not sufficient time right now, I just share my experience of marketting. Of course, RC kit, Servos and other component, for the aeromodelling are found exclusively in Hobby Center by me though other places may available .

In mid 2006, I found & surprised that one of the best Aeromodelling Engine is exported from Howrah (Manufacturing unit Near Foreshoor Road), but I cannot trace and later for several time change/format of HDD, the address lost.

So, I request to add Mehta Building as one of location of RC Shops in Kolkata.

The small shop at right which you might see wholesell customers just orders or head loading of gift items (Thumb rule congested shops are have attractive rate). This is not RC Shop only but keeps all attractive gift toys. Shop is 4'-5' wide only. in opposite you can see much larger shop with RC but higher cost. Of course, there is no warranty and I found all working which purchased by me.

Welcome to the forum Kalyan - it seems like you have the right spirit. Just one doubt - are you a modeller or a seller/dealer?  I regret my inability to fully understand what you are trying to say. or convey to the forum. 

Nevertheless, I miss Kolkata today evermore, as visions of Canning St, Ezra St and Mehta Building are popping up in front of my eyes. A flashback of days gone by when I was as young and impetuous as you are today.

I am not a seller, or Dealer. I just purchase the RC Cars in quantity just to gift them (Of course, I have just checked the circuits reverse engineered, before gifting, for knowledge and warrenty has no value to me as I know how to make working if defective) at different occasion to children to increase the craze & enjoyment of RC so that their technical knowledge increase while playing.

I just surprise now-a-days, parents purchase mobile cellphone cost as high as 9000 - 15000/- but never purchase a RC RTF which require little skill & increase concentration. HAM & Aero-modelling is just disappearing.

In my locality, for the tight budget, I share 3d kite plans to explain 3d modeling, solid geometry & simple aerodynamics in use. I just use carrybag, bamboo-stripes, cellotape, Polystic White glue, Soldering Iron in combination of SteelRule & Glass.

Truely speaking I personally consider, kiting => 3d kiting => Control Line Airplane => RC Gliders => RC Plane/Heli may be arranged for self made hobby in cost axis and all are related.

Another true fact is that purchasing separate RC Plane spair is much higher than purchasing a ready item and modifying them.

Actually I hate the high business profit to using those learner, who may discontinue for cost.

Belief me, I have made Props made with Brown Paper(Thick), Polystic Gum, Some Hand made tools (Wooden Dice, Adjusting balance made by me) and of course scissor, Knife & made cheap prop replacement (for rubber powered Gliders made from Jute-Stick(Dowel), Thermocol Wings, covered with kite paper/Carrybag with thin polystic glue. Of course they are not last long but serves another perpose. I get informed that another model is awaiting to made by me.

Where hobby center sells a prop minimum 15/- to 20/- {Goog Prof. prop 30/- -150/- & similar to any international cost} I made at least 3 complete plane in that budget. Dont think that I made this for budget only. I belief that every problems till it fly perfectly after adjustment, the knowledge hungry view of the kids must attract then to this hobby, who also learn with my every mistake (unwilling or willing).

I am actually culture my hobby isolated from other association. I remember that, in my second year of diploma, gone to visit state science fair in BITM with friends and informed that the aeromodelling class held at Gobordanga (far away from Kolkata City, merely a suberban township perhaps) insted of kolkata (in 1996). In 1997 I found 2 Bengal & 4 bengal Air Sq. NCC Unit inside Jadavpur University teaches the same. Though I completed Graduation & Masters from JU but for continuing service simultaniously & Other problem I cannot join and I dont know that if they teaches outside NCC or give option to join in 30+ Years of age.

Please excuse me, as cost is not issue to others but to me, as I born & brought up with very low resource, and know how much price is valuable to a kid if not supported by the guardian.

Was at isro today. Was given a detailed tour of the entire facility at airport road and marathalli. The place is just awesome!! Got a close view of the next 12 satellites which will be launched by India (all in various stages of construction). And when i got out i discovered this store in the campus. The manager and his dad were so helpful. They spent almost an hour explaining about the diff models, showed me videos of their flight in chennai. His dad has been flying for about 5 decades. I have requested him to register on RCINDIA so that all of us can gain from his experience.

I believe that this forum is a  ;D real open mind forum :thumbsup:. The true answer comes from the real world and the reality of the answer may be best judged by open comments {:)}. Comperative study is essential to make proper study.

I not believe to swing the performance between 45% to 55% rather than 5% to 90%. Believe me, I started aeromodeling 12 years back but still I have not make my first RC plane rather than free flight Gliders due to high priced items :banghead:. In Kolkata Hobby Center, 600/- Rs. IR heli is sold at Rs. 2400/- and purchased by this forum member  :giggle:(name suppressed). One person purchased his beginer's electric kit with 24k+ and hearing this another expert comments that you still can purchase this with the same budget from Singapore by AIR travel. :giggle:

This is crude fact that we are now purchasing online and the market become competitive. Thanks to  :bow:VKSingh, Sai Uncle, RCDhamaka, FlyRC and other forum members :bow: for making this cheap items really cheap (With quality). We should encourage LHS but there is a limit.

Can you believe that seeing Aeromodeling and getting in touch with aeromodeller needs to show your aeromodeling performance so that you have to land your (Yes, your RTF surely) plane between legs and then only you can get the proper Identity Card (Actually Gate pass to Kolkata Race Course).

This is because the club is headed by one LHS :( . Again, information received that most of the balsa designs used by nearest IIT students even in competition is actually made by them and they canvases their performance by telling this. :headscratch:

There's mention of a particular web site which have newly opened and in subsequent posts some member have made fun of the pricing of this web site surrounded with funny emoticons(I don't want to give references of these posts). There is no bad thing in discussing pricing of a particular seller and the forums are for that. But again in a way which don't hurt any body.

well, here is an option for these LHS and Online Stores to add this option of customization esp in regards to connectors and combinations...

For eg: I get a dean T and instead to re-soldering and standardizing my arsenal, the combo option leaves me multiple choice..
For eg: I have Lipos that have Xt60, Dean T, and the list goes on and the ESC's have a mind and body of their own... LOL, this would bring everybody to a work zone that is practical and workable...

first of all, let me clarify that we are not related with, any means with either any LHS (we do have almost all the planes on webpage are in stock) or bananahobby,till now but we imported directly from the manufacturer.

you people are right that service is most important factor for this business.

For the images query, i agree that it looks similar, but pl believe that such images provided us from the manufacturer to us online.

Agree with higher side of price, I assure for consider special discount for a specific period if we find sufficient flow of interest in this models.

Roland's electronics is only an electronics + robotics shop, with very limited RC stuff. There are no LiPos, brushless motors are always out of stokc, and ESCs are brought upon request. But it's really good for robotics (and multirotor) freaks, many arduino boards to choose from, Xbee modules, etc. etc.

Im feeling so stupid right now!!!! THIS IS THE SAME EBAY STORE I HAVE OFTEN USED. Fantastic seller too, called him a while back for some stuff and was a pleasure to deal with! If im not mistaken hes based in Patna? I only remember that cause I remember he was kind enough to tell me not to order from him if I needed stuff urgently since fedex didnt offer the one day delivery from his city. Decided to order from him only because, well, how many times do u find a seller thats honest with you and doesnt use the god-forsaken term "ASAP". LOL

I have to say one of the worst websites that I have ever visited. Usability, which is the most important aspect, has not been given any importance. Seems like something a designer dreamed up while under the influence of something really strong.

Also this is not a store, we've been working on arduino platform with special sensors like kinect, sonars, IR etc to make intelligent quads, and we make quads as per the budget and requirements of our clients. That's why we don't have any pre listed items for sale.   :-\

It is not about budgets. It is about keeping things simple.  You don't have to get super star anyone to make sure, for example, that the font is something readable. And so on.

So how has the receptivity been so far ? Is it mostly college kids who are signing up for these workshops or there is some interest from the corporate world too? Do you talk about how drones can make life simpler in future or its just demo of how drones work? Do you charge for these workshops or are you just trying to generate interest in robots?

I think accidentally or deliberately you guys bumped upon a "clean look" which is actually not a bad thing   ;D
While it does look like patchwork right now .  A few suggestions :

1) You are wasting your precious top scroll . The logo is just too big and there is no content on the Rhs . If it's a large boxes and clean look you want to chase , you can probably use a Parallax like this site http://www.razorfish.com/ (http://www.razorfish.com/)

2) Though the colours you chose are fun and vibrant ,it doesn't really go in with a company set to make a name in robotics. You are in the Lego Kids "let's build a castle together" zone currently

3)Other stuff like size of the boxes ,fonts etc. needs to be sorted

4) Make your site SEO friendly . It's amazing what search delivers

5) Sort out your call to action. If you are not selling stuff directly why is the "Buy Now" button there ? It should say something like "Customize your Quad Here" . I see Buy Now and then just below i see a form. Totally confusing

6) You inserted social that's a big +  {:)} But in some pages it's FB and Twitter and in some other pages only Twitter

Maybe it will be worth your while to invest in a good websites. My guess is it will all be the cool colleges and schools whom you will be targeting . And they will most probably find you on the internet , and you sure would want to make a great first impression  :thumbsup:

Very informative serial crasher, yeah we're bunch of 8 from iit and Stephens .. We did some workshops and charge a very nominal fee which we devote for our research crew.. Our latest concept was hacking a kinect And try to fly the quad with gestures, well that's not ready yet but we have a few concept drones ready all programmed with common micro controllers.

This is a new layout which most E commerce sites are following, it copies the looks of windows 8. it looks good but sucks in terms of speed, needs at least 512kbps of internet to get good performance.
IBM, dell, and few other reputed e-commerce organisations are moving towards this layout and god knews why.

Roby, good effort. Not everyone like Win 8 tile look, so keep that in mind. The store link, should actually look like ecommerce web page. I like the simplicity of quadkopter.com. So you can give the tile look miss when it comes to store. If your intent is not to have a store, then label it differently, may be Products or Services. You have created a big picture for Basic Quad, FPV Quad etc, it makes it look a click able link which it is not and hence disappointing. Make the picture smaller or put a click able link. Basic to web design is if you design, you ask a layman internet user to use it and tell you what works and what doesnt.

Fonts updated, thanks pradish for  your reviews, will modify it .. It's good to see you all reviewing my site and posting your suggestions .. A few more modification and that will look amazing

But all this is history, right? There is no presence of IHC in aeromodelling any more, AFAIK.

My first aeromodel, probably thirty-five years ago, was a Chaser from IHC Calcutta. About thirty years ago, I came to Bombay, and within a few years, discovered the IHC branch near Charni Road railway station facing the western railway tracks. That branch is not even there any more. IHC in Calcutta exists but does not sell aeromodelling stuff, I believe. Stopped selling them years ago. I can go on and on about the fantastic things they used to sell (some of which were made in India and used to attract oohs and aahs from Western aeromodellers too), but all that's history. The IHC used to be backed by something called the Aurora Model Manufacturing Company, with their published address being (IIRC) 15 Shakespeare Sarani. All that is dead now, I believe.

I will be thrilled if I am wrong and if someone tells me IHC still sells aeromodelling gear. :(

Pls beware with thehobbyshop.in,  found out that they are bunch of college dropouts and send my friends to the location and it was shut down yesterday and even today at 3pm.  I think my order placed on 2nd October for close to rs 10,000/- is in drains. But wanted to caution all pls be do due diligence and do not go by few members reputation.  I could see many complaints against thehobbyshop.  I made mistake by not doing research,

I request mr.anwar admin to take note and if you found my compliant genuine and pls look in to the list of compliant in your form and pls take necessary action.

Such people who do not deserve mercy. Im not bother about my money, but felt cheated and shared to ensure they do not do for others and I'm not going to keep quite.

1) Lots of stuff available on site, it seems they are having very good business, but still they do not have any permanent contact number like landline or toll-free. No store address is mentioned on site.

2) All stock pictures are collected from www.hobbyking.com (http://) and other Chinese online stores. Good copy paste work ;-)

3) You can not see price without login. If they are genuine why hiding prices. Showing price is always beneficial to online shopping stores. Price always pushes the customer to buy something and become a registered user.

4) You can buy Turnigy and Zippy Lipo at best price from www.hobbyking.com (http://) only no other Chinese sites are having stock of these batteries. On other indian online stores usually you can find these brand batteries at higher cost almost thrice of actual price because, from last 3-4 months hobbyking ships batteries through Fed-ex only as Singapore government banned lipos shipment via passenger plane. If you notice thehobbyshop is still listing the same price that I seen 5 months before. It seems no one ordered these lipos yet ;-) :-D

4) Tried to contact site owner 4-5 times but never get any response.

I know any adverse comment on RCBazaar has been met by vociferous comments by other members trying to prove otherwise. I am just sharing my experience. Once I had placed an order for 15 AAA grade balsa sheets online with the option for store pickup. When I went after a week for pickup I was told that only B cut sheets were in stock. Since payment had already been made and I had spent two hours going to the store I had to pickup 16 B cut sheets. I was told that the order was taken as the stock position was not updated in the system. Strangely there was no email or phone call telling me of the position till I went to the store.
So today I went to the store to pick up some covering. Another 45 min of driving. This time I could see the rolls of covering lying in the store but was told that they could not be sold as the stock position has not been updated in the computer. On returning I checked their website. It does not show an out of stock position of the covering. Certainly one does not feel welcome at the store. I have been in this hobby for more the a couple of decades and have been to many hobby scores in India and abroad and have sweet memories of how the sales people interact and guide you. Sorry I never felt any warmth in interactions at this store even when I went to pickup the RCIndia Anniversary Sweepstakes prize.
I have more experiences which I am not writing about. Writing today after a fruitless 60km drive to and fro from the store. >:(

I too had a same experience with them. they had to replace a duct fan unit on my skyhawk, Had to wait for 2 months even with constant remainder to them and at last after i called them for the nth time, they pulled it out of a model and gave it to me!! They went down on my reliance list!! only get products which is not available else where. if this goes on they will loose me as a customer!! We know you guys are expanding but make sure you treat your customers as customers!! no offence just my opinion!!

Since i had excellent response from RCB (Suresh, both in Bangalore and Pune, recounted elsewhere on this forum), i had recommended RCB to Mr. Baijal, an old friend, who took up this hobby over 33 years ago. I was taken aback when he narrated his experience on going to collect his Sweepstakes prize. It would be really nice if you sent him a pm or gave him a call.
I still think RCB rocks.

Sujju I just pray that I would get a reply like this from Pankaj man...I was searching for a UBEC and found one on THS then ordered it same, after I made the payment along with a lipo I got a maol saying that the payment failed, so I made another payment..2 hours later I got 2 shipments under processing in my account..I email and  call this guy to cancel one order, but no reply no answer nothing..I felt like I made a stupid mistake by ordering from Thehobbyshop after I started going through these posts. Then later under the advice of some forum members ordered the same items again from elsewhere. Now am really not sure if I'll grow old  and die waiting for THS's processing to turn to "sent" or him to reply to my mails for a refund on the extra order for the same item.
I highly recommend rcproduct.in, God bless his hard work.

All this happened yesterday as on 10/02/2015..if I loose that order, its gone..its upto the universe to decide, but thats it! This guy is outta my good books.

I would like to make a positive comment about an online RC product store, "RCMUMBAI.COM"
I've been into this hobby since a few yrs and was not able to find a decent store who could provide quality products, until i found this store.
I started with smaller quads first, but a few weeks back i bought a walkera qr 350pro with devo 10 from there. then i bought the g2d gimble and ilook+ too from there. I really had a pleasant experience with this store.
I think there is no other online shop in India which can provide the variety of quad copters this rcmumbai.com does.
And the price is very competitive.
Even when compared with the other international stores too.
And The gimble which i purchased was faulty. it had a minor problem.
I send it back, and they provided me a new one.
I was given an option to upgrade to a g3d gimble, and i went with that.
Thought this might help others. so sharing my experience with this online store.
The only draw back of the store keeper i found was that he sometimes takes very long to get in touch.

I got disheartened to purchase from rcmumbai because of the same reason. They do have amazing prices and a wide range of products. I think many of the hobby stores are managed by a team of less than 5 people and if you have a retail store along with it, the more difficult it gets to manage I guess?

I have had more than one seller forget my orders, so it is only imaginable how much queries they have to put up with.

Actually i'm not a professional website designer.
I'm just a student.
We were given a IT summer project to make a website (on the school's servers)
But then my teachers said that the website was way beyond anything they had expected.
So i decided to bring this thing to life (putting on proper servers)
i created this with a 20 students group :P
So i basically have no idea :)
But if the website developer is making everything from start, like custom CMS rather than wordpress or own theme like then it can require that much time.
I actually used readily available wordpress along with some plugins and a theme :)

There should be a product finder website also. So that we don't have to open every lhs website to search for a product. :)

I tried to contact owner multiple times on instagram, and once he told me items are out of stock.

Agree, but my experience is different, I wanted to buy locally from robu.in(Pune), but they dont deal with Tarot Motors, FrSky transmitter, so literally I am collecting individual parts from each part of India.

Has anybody purchased items from Happy Landings India.... how is the rating.... how was the experience.

I purchased some spars and covering sheers from the website and paid in full on 17 Jan 2021. Till date (i.e. 29 Jan 2021), I have not received the items. The tracking page says that it was packed on 23 (i.e. full 6 days after placing the order) and that it should be delivered by 28 Jan 2021 (today is 29 Jan 2021). The only saving grace was that I got a call from the owner that there is a slight delay in dispatching the items... but never expected it to be 6 days of delay. The worst is that my calls to the owners have not been picked up for the last 3-4 days. Yesterday he said he will come back to be for the delay not then no pickup or calls from him. I hope all is well at Bengaluru and that I order has been shipped correctly.
