Title: No More Spektrum at HobbyCity?
Post by: PankajC on February 11, 2010, 01:30:29 AM
Well, sometime back I had bought the Dx6i from HC. At that point, they were selling RX as well, now all of a sudden I noticed that they had stopped all stocks of Spectrum receivers. I contacted them and here is the reply
----------------------------------------------------
Dear Pankaj,

Spektrum refuses to supply additional stocks to us, they have discontinued all support with us therefore; we have no other choice but to stop selling their products.
We thank you customers for your understanding and patience in regards to this matter.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Best Regards,
Ricky

Not too surprising :) Other retailers (people like HorizonHobby) would have issues when people start going to HobbyCity for Spektrum receivers, and then start getting everything else they need from there too.  One big reason people go to Horizon (and others) is for Spektrum and they tend to get other things from them too.

They are available at a variety of sources.

Although with responses like yours, it is obvious why HobbyCity is banned in some other forums, while Tower is not :(

my response was in general and not direct to hobby-city as I have not mentioned or named any company. Why would responses like these ban their existence in forums ?

Because, your response implies that "Hobbycity not carrying Spektrum receivers equates to less availability of Spektrum recievers in general (which is not necessarily true), and it could impact the sales of radios even from LHSes (which again is not true in general)".

The point is that Hobbycity has become such a major force that every other shop (LHS or otherwise) is seriously threatened by it, because people are patronizing it so much, and that leads to their banning from forums, manufacturers being strong-armed by other shops to prevent sales through HobbyCity etc. For LHSes, the ones who provide good service will prevail, as it is really hard to flight with HC on price on such a large variety of items.

Ok that was definately not my intention and am pretty sure spektrum transmitter holders will definately go to other sources to buy receivers..amended my earlier post..hehehe..

Hobbycity over a couple of years has definately taken over the market, its more because of the price, quality and service. If LHS and any other shops are doing the same then why would anyone bother to buy from HC ?

survival of the fittest...

well the main heading of this post says "No More Spektrum at HobbyCity?" doesn't this imply that less availability of Spektrum recievers in general ?

I never new that HobbyCity was also banned on other forums. I thought you were just not allowed to talk about LHSes ( except one ) , and you could freely talk about international sources.

I guess the terms and conditions of such forums is getting tighter and tighter.

Three cheers to RCI !

Look at the response from Hobbycity. It does seem that apart from the stock that is already with them, they are not getting any more fresh supplies from Spectrum
